An amazing story, I am amazed by these people trying to find their families. I loved the book and cannot stop thinking about how these mother felt having lost their babies. I would love to see a movie made about these amazing humans.

I've read this book 3x already, and am sure I will read it again. It's so beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. I cry every time I read about Gabion being adopted and imagine the feeling of helplessness Rill had.

It's also sad what happened to the 1,600 children taken away from their Hispanic mothers and never return them back to their parents..... It's a child trafficking Black market in the United States and all over the world..

I’m currently reading her non fiction book featuring real stories of these children. “ Before and After. Co written with Judy Christie. Yes, they need to make a movie of this and hopefully soon . I believe the last child sold by Georgia Tann was in the early 50s So time is running out.

Just finished listening to this. Despite this being about a fictional family, I cried. So sad to imagine families being torn apart like this. This is still an issue today, by the way. For annyone who is unaware.

Absolutely. And the overturned Roe vs Wade law is only making it worse. Adoption is trauma.

So sad to think about all the poor lil confused kids in families w/out a lot of $$ but not lacking in love & how different their lives were after being adopted. Joan Crawford can't be the only one to adopt children & then horribly abuse them.

Loved the book although it was hard to read about the abuse so many small children had to endure. I hope your book, video, and talks that you give will bring some peace to the families and victims of the tragic and despicable story.

Excellent book. It was tough though to read and imagine kids being treated worse than an animal. Although this book is a work of fiction, Georgia Tann was a real person. A real life monster.

As Francis Bacon says 'some books are to be tasted, some to be swallowed, some to be digested...' similarly "Before we were Yours" is a book to be tasted.

I don't think it stopped when Tann and those that helped in High Political and Medical died. I think it continued and I suspect I may have had a twin brother taken in '63 from Baptist Central in Memphis.

Don't forget all those who knew what was happening, but allowed it to continue. Including the staff of the "orphanages" Some of whom were just as evil and abusive.

I am reading this book and want to know if the Foss children are real or fictional?
@selenang2623

Actually it's quite dangerous to be adopted. The child might be raped and abused. Some of the luckier kids got really kind adopted parents just like angels. Some even get new siblings who look beyond biological ties and love them. I like this story Before We Were Yours very much . I learned that the cost of adopting a baby isn't that high , I mean the admin charges. I didn't know that before reading this book. I hope more parents will be able to locate their ' stolen ' babies. Parents might not want to interfere their grown up children ' lives ' but it's a relief to know that their biological child are in safe hands and turn out fine.

This is a terrible generalization. Hundreds of thousands of children are adopted into wonderful loving families. Please consider deleting your comment. It jus is not true. Sure, there might be some bad adoptions, but consider how many children are abused by their birth parents. I would bet that is more prevalent than your reckless statement. I was adopted. My parents were wonderful. I never considered looking for my birth parents.
@ritageraghty3261

@@virginialincoln7960 Why should she delete her comment? In reality, there are far too many adopted children getting "re-homed" like unwanted Christmas puppies. Another, there are great many child organ traffickers being too interested in adopting children who will later disappear and never be seen or heard again. Many traffickers are even *doctors* with private clinics and they have no problem in adopting kids from anywhere. Trade in children's healthy organs is highly lucrative, if you must know -- and they are free from age-related diseases, more valuable than adult organs, wouldn't you say so? Adoption agencies truly needs to be policed and people adopting kids need to be vetted.
@AK-sm3kp
@AK-sm3kp Год назад
@@virginialincoln7960the commenter used words like "some" and "might" that show that she is aware that there are those who get great adoptive parents. If she used words like Always, Every, and Always, then that would make her comment slanted and one sided.
