Your loader is a Dunham Lehr Farmhand model 2 or 22. I have the same loader on my 1979 Ford 3600. I'm not sure if 1960's tractors were sold from the dealerships with those loaders but I think an actual Ford loader came on those older tractors whereby they have supports running back to the rear axle, and the Farmhand 2/22 loaders don't have the rear axle supports but are mounted to a subframe that's bolted around the transmission area and front end. This allows for the quick-disconnect feature so you can simply loosen 2 large bolts on the loader's rear mounts which opens up a jaw-type clamp. From there, lower the bucket to the ground and then unhook the 2 legs on the loaders lift arms that swing down to the ground to hold up the whole loader while you back the tractor out of it. This leaves your whole loader rests on the ground positioned at like a 45degree angle so you can then re-attach it by pulling the tractor right back into it and doing the reverse of unattaching it

Those 4000 Series 3 cylinder Ford tractors are very durable even if they are almost 50 years old. The Ford company made a better loader than the one you have there, hydraulics supplied by a front mounted pump running off the engine crankshaft. Not a quick tach unit however. You got a good deal on the one you have.... but as a few others have commented, it would be more safe to leave the torch handwarmer in the house. Loose straw/hay along with a gas tractor could make for a really bad day. There are some pocket type handwarmers, chemical type, that would be more safe. The electrical cord on those engine block heaters are intended to be left plugged into the heater element (the part installed in the block). You can just use a tie wrap to secure the cord to the frame (away from the carburetor/fuel). Good luck from North Dakota. Enjoy your videos.

Re: the hand warmer for the blowtorch, if I were you make a holder for the torch so it can't fall over, think a plastic soda bottle case. The idea is to spread the footprint the torch sits in so you don't accidentally knock it over. With all the dry straw if it ignited I'd doubt you would be able to put it out. Any time you use a naked flame think fire safety please as you only get one shot. Neat little hand warmer. Stay safe out there.

For grading your driveway and dirt it helps to add a box on top of the rear scraper to add weight in ... it also helps as ballast for when your lifting heavy stuff with the loader

I'm probably to safety mindd cause I was raised by a safety director for the USAF and so see the torch on straw with leaking fuel,reminded me of my cousin's cousins who where playing in their grandpa's barn. Lost the 75 x 35+ barn full of hay and the milking herd with fillers. Please be careful.

Yay, We live in North Florida. No Snow Plowing. Well, unless the weather keeps bottoming out like it has been doing for the last few years here. It snowed twice in parts of North Florida this winter season. In 30 or 40 years, I may be needing to do some of that. Dude, you sound like Southern Prepper 1 and I mean you sound like you are twins. Glad I found your channel. We just picked up 5 acres in the woods. We have been looking at tractors for a week or so. The 5 acres is raw, so we just got a permit to put in the culvert. Yay, one step closer to moving out of the city.

I had an older tractor with a similar size bucket and what I did was bolt two 6'' X 6'' X 8'' long angle iron to the inside with holes big enough to quick pin an 8 1/2 foot Fischer plow, no hydraulics at all. I then took the lift chain and attached it to the center hook of the bucket. I adjusted the angle manually just by pulling a bolt and swing the plow left or right and drop the bolt back in. The plow blade still had the spring trip, floated by itself and was pretty fast plowing and could stack snow great. I did have to add around 800lbs to the very back of the tractor but... Great video as always and Happy New Year !!!!

august great ideal for a plow on a tight budget or with limited hydraulics. He will need to fix his float function on the control valve or get a new control valve (he said it is broke). If new I would want a joystick control over the 2 handle unit for bucket work.

Wish you were closer.......i can get grader chains that still have 50+% life left in them for the price of srap steel......$10 a set. On a tractor using the way you do they would give you all the security you need for a long time. Been plowing 5 years on the same set on my 410 backhoe. Like your videos......keep them comming.

Some good advise, Consider a front mounted blade. They work way better. Why would you unplug the block heater cord off the heater? Leave it attached and tie the cord to the frame somewhere.

Tractors is an interesting topic and you will get a lot of interest, You should have talked a bit more about the tractor and why it is so valuable. Why you want the tractor what you use it for and if your happy with that size and so on. Another benefit to a tractor that most like is the things they didn't think of before they had a tractor that they can now do. Like loading and unloading heavier things in/out of a truck. Moving soil/ compost around the farm.

Maybe not for this year, but a used snow blower for the 3 point hitch could be an extra revenue source for you in the winter if there isn't already someone clearing driveways in your area. Cheers!

Front end loader is the best tool ever invented. Have a mahindra 4035 with FEL, use it all the time on my 5 acres. 2 levers and the bucket comes off then can mount any skid steer attachments. Forklift attachment is worth it's weight in gold. Have a blade for the back like yours and an 8' wide finish mower.
@MrCoaster36
@MrCoaster36 6 лет назад
Your loader should have a "float" lever position. In float it will just sit on the ground and float over any hills or valleys. Probably just like the rear 3 point hitch acts.

I wouldn't recommend using that heater or torch around hay and/or straw. We had a rule at our farm, no smoking in or around the barns with straw. I have fired employees that thought we were joking about that rule. We had a smaller barn go up from an electrical short. Figured a mouse chewed the wires, the quick spark before the breaker tripped was all that was needed. We figure the mice had a little bit of straw packed around that area, because we had to fix wires in that area before. You don't want to loose your animals, nor your equipment. You especially don't want to find out if your insurance company is going to be honorable.

I love your old Ford. They are great and it's amazing that you can still get parts for them. My Bandsaw Mill wants to come over to your house and turn all those huge trees you have into lumber... LoL... Millie is funny that way! I also love how you put scripture in at that end that's relevant to your videos. Seems much less preachy that way. I'm a Christian too but still, I don't like egotistical preachiness. Nobody does and in these increasingly degenerate and depraved times it's important to represent in more relevant, accessible and inviting ways... like how you do it! :)

Very nice tractor I have one myself they work great for 4000 is a very strong Ford tractor I believe it’s about the only good thing for ever has built the loader on your tractor is probably about three years to five years newer than your tractor is it’s a quick attach style afford 4000 originally came with only a fixed amount loader with the PTO driven hydraulic system you can upgrade I don’t know if you could on yours but you can upgrade to the high flow pump which mounts off the front of the motor you see a lot more flow on the hydraulic system for ploughing it and usage and know your tractor would not have a float feature on it it’s a twin stick control so does not have a locking float the walking floor wasn’t in made for another 10 years. And you may also want to pick up a set a egg tires for the front because the ones you have on will not help you steer us in the snow you’re gonna want deep rich three line tires

A magnetic heater for the oil pan would work very well. Wasn't able to see how worn the throttle rubber boot was, most are waaaayyyyyy to tight (the nut on the bottom set ) should have it slightly tighter then it De-throttling. As most are oval. Our first diesel was a 1969 Ford 3000 Super Dexta (English made) was a wonderful tractor. Had a 4000 and 5600. Do let the engine warm up at least until the needle comes off of the bottom. They did call for a 30W (diesels) engine oil have they come up to using synthetic in them should work well.

I hooked an old plow up to my loader bucket and it put too much strain on the lift pistons so I cut all the extra garbage off the plow and welded up a couple brackets so I could pull the bucket and hook the plow right up to the loader arms.. the weight with the plow in front of the bucket compounded as it stuck out too far and made the pistons leak too often. since I made the change the piston have lasted five yrs.
