currently im just learning... and figuring it out.. im taking courses in film making, and deciding direction... Travel Videos is definately what i love.. im 49 now, but when i was young i traveled all over Asia, but always tried to live in a hut with families in small villages... I loved how times i had to take a small boat, because no other way to village... i loved how i would get up at 5am and meet the men of the village in the village center to drink coffee and eat noodles... not knowing any of their language, they still made sure i was taken care of... then i got married and had kids... due to an unfortunate accident, ive been a single parent for a long time. now they are grown and learning to live on their own.. i thought about mission trips, and practicing my film making as i vlog... but right now, im showcasing how i learn my cameras... how i learn film making.. and trying out little quirky things...
Yeah Sean is right, Im 32 and started last year and I'm about to reach 80k in 14months. When I started everyone literally said I was too old, YT is too crowded or everything has been done before. This literally changed my life, my clothing brand blew up because of my channel and I was able to quit my job and I just feel like all the learning over the years was worth it once i started. Anyone can make it fr like he says "You just gotta press RECORD"
I started my channel 8 months ago, clueless. It was you and your channel that helped me massively to start and learn so much. Thank you so much, may God keep blessing you!
That first one almost made me tear up, being to young in my profession is something that affects me even in real life, it is the main driver to help me work harder and basically proven myself, thank you man.
Sean please give us some tools for those of us who have already started but need tools to keep getting better. Love your perspective on things would love to hear from you ❤
Yes! It is so overwhelming but I’m thankful for channels like Think Media that are truly helpful and are ahead of us the beginners. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge Sean! 🤗
Dudeeee awesome information! Im still growing at an incredibly slow rate… but I ain’t giving up and whoever’s reading this and you’re on the same boat, LETSSS GOOO we ain’t backing down
I feel there is no need not to admit everything you have just shared because we are struggling with them all. We agree with all that you have said. We are confused and need help. We thought it was easy, but clearly not. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. We wish you a perfect weekend,
I started a channel 3 weeks ago. It's about Chess and Football combined. Will do learning curve in relaxed way for beginners (target audience) as myself in Chess, will do future Football tournament. Thanks for the quality content and tips, i appreciate it.
I started my channel 4 years ago when I was roughly 17 and was pretty consistent. Had to put the brakes on my channel as I focused on my business (video production) and pursued my dream job of moving out of home and becoming a fireman. I've been scripting dozens of videos, got an office in my new apartment to actually have a space to film in, and am now creating with a much deeper understanding of the platform. I'm so excited for what's to come!
Great tips! One thing I that you don’t want to do is compare yourselves to other channels in your niche. Just because another channel has more subscribers in a shorter period of time doesn’t mean you’re not succeeding at RU-vid.
Comparing is hard and happens faster than a blink! Although, looking at what others are doing in your niche can be helpful to learn what is working and not working so you don't make mistakes.
I have been at RU-vid 3 years, and I have missed just 2 uploads in that time. Still not monetized, but I always think long term and I know I will get there soon :) Becuse of your channel I don't ever quit! Just hustle it and make it :)
Sean, got the book, absolutely love it! Thanks for this, my channels progressing, and these additional tips definitely help with #1 courage/confidence on the RU-vid journey. 👊🏻
Sean is right, been following him for a couple of years now. I'm 59 and posted my first video 4 months ago. I've never used a smart phone before, never edited, and i was almost, not quite but almost as bad as Johnny from cobra kai with a computer. But i learned enough to start and i'm still learning. Still trying. If you don't start, you won't succeed. Simple "old man" advise.
I can relate to all of these 7 C's especially the courage part. I am so glad that I got over the fear. #1 is not giving a sh@t what other people think but that should be the same approach for your everyday life and not just RU-vid. Great video! 👍
You are absolutely right. Thank you. This applies to almost any other venture as well. Business 101. I am interested in making videos that show environmental degradation around us and what efforts are being undertaken to improve it, how effective are those efforts. This could be rivers and lakes pollution, air quality, Superfund sites, dumping, etc. I can get 50 videos out of it.
That's right I was worried about what people think but now I finally about to start I over come my fear today I am editing my first video finally .gonna learn as I go how to post video with better tumb nails ect.
I have no control over others. So I just got started. I have pressed the button. 38.3k views in last 28 days. A couple of months ago I had 12 subscribers. It works.
Thanks for all your great advice, been on my journey for the last few years but more recently with more consistency just keep telling myself to believe in myself and just keep going and if I can help one person, then that's rewarding in it self.
You are great inspiration to us with your wonderful wife and your sympathic team. I respect you because I know what you've all been through. I wish you and your wife Heather and family a lot od health and happiness.💖😺
I don’t think age matters! I am 32 just started my channel about 6 months ago and almost have 2K subscribers. I have no idea what I am doing haha! But figuring it out as I go! My page is all about travel. You will never know what you can do until you try it!
*I totally agree with Sean.* I have been building my channel for 9 years + and I have reached 48K subscribers. It’s actually good achievement in my niche. Very slow and bad achievement in today’s age of short format viral content. I dominate my niche and it’s still super difficult and hard to grow my channel. Can anyone share some tips and guidance on what should I try next?
Thank you for the video first.. Then for all the people who are reading this comment I want to say only one thing "Don't give up. ALL OF YOUR HARD WORK WILL PAYOFF SOON, stick with what you are doing no matter how hard it gets" love from ToyBabies.. Save trees🌴🌴spread love and humanity ❤️🌱
Clarity, Cinematography is tricky at the best of times.4K - 8K, 35mm - 4k Restorations are technically interesting Cinematic video is another well talked about topic, good 7Cs some are more tricky than others. informative 10mins content.
Loved this video. I resonate with your energy, and style. "I'm god's gift to humanity," had me in stitches. I will apply these steps and hopefully start to grow. Will be hard as my market is small, as I'm a psychic medium. Thank you for your words of advice kind soul.
Really nice, some time I don't really need to watch your videos , I just give a thumbs up because is awesome. Also I will like if you guys can make a video of how to use the RU-vid studio well and also thumbnails.
I'm not afraid of other people's opinions. What I'm FRUSTRATED by is that what I'm interested in making vids about doesn't seem to be very popular at all. I'm talking search volume in the
Sometimes that can indicate you have the ability to come in and dominate that search topic.... I've seen that happen with others, and also myself in the video lighting area. So, maybe there is opportunity! :D
What stops me from creating content is that when it is time to press record I tend to forget my lines, overthink what I planned to say, my mind goes blank and eventually get discouraged
I love this!!! It’s definitely easy to get discouraged. I started last year around this time. I currently have over 400 subscribers. What is considered good growth?
Great advice! It all seems so overwhelming, but I guess how the natural selection works. If you can't handle it all, maybe being a youtube creator is not for oneself. As a novice myself, it gets confusing to follow "all the advice" out there, but the 7 C's seem like a beautiful framework to follow. Thanks for this video and looking forward to your course next week!
I have many failed channels but with my main channel I burnt out in 2019 at only 1.6k subs and I haven't returned yet. The returning is harder now more than ever
I have a question, so i have had a channel for 7 years now. I stopped for one year and some months because i went through my husbands cancer and grieving and all that, i started being constant again after everything going on, I have been doing it in Spanish, i am wondering if this is the right path. Should i try in english? or just keep going? My channel is in Spanish and i love it, but i have that in the back of my mind and i would like to know what you think.
Q: I have more than one RU-vid channel. Can I use a video from one channel and add it to my other channel with out it getting a copyright ? Example: I have a unboxing channel that i unboxed some weights. Now I’m wanting to use that exact video from the unboxing channel and share it to my Fitness channel without uploading the original video to the fitness channel. Thank you. I also watch your uploads a lot Think Media. I be having that fear of what people think and learning to not fear other people assumed opinions .
Ordered your book! Camcorder on its way, what is a simple video editor program will be compatible with a laptop. Need that too. Should I get the v,editor first and then get the laptop? Need to get 2nd hand. So much to get going. Lapel mic, softbox.. etc. Will spend under 100 bucks for simple editor .. I don't speak sepcks.
On the topic of courage, how would you approach the concern of not wanting your workplace to find your content and the fear that you could lose your job if they think your content is not a good look for the company?
I doubt your content is something that your company should find questionable. Unless you are doing rant-filled videos that might make their customers uncomfortable working with you, then they should have no say or grounds to take any action. Share good, positive content and you'll be fine. Good luck!
I think there also could be an 8th c "continuity". How will you use the audience you have gotten and your popularity to reach outside the boarders of your channel
The earliest I have been. My channel is about finance and career tips. Please how do I get enough data to show me how to see when my viewers are online
