I wanted to save as many cosmologists, estheticians, PMU artists, etc. as possible before they being their journey with Styleseat.
This review is based off of the changes that have been made as of the beginning of 2022. I first started using them at the start of 2020.
Here are some important grievances with Styleseat as a booking system:
- Discounting services $50 without information their professionals
- Their Pixel flags all clients who book with booking link as a client they brought in with their marketing efforts
- They encourage users to book with another artist/professional if they don’t book one of your services right away
- They push clients to checkout on their platform so they can take their 2.75% of that payment. If you have most of your clients checkout on a separate platform they will shadow ban or hide your profile. When you search your business name, competitors will appear who have their clients checking out on their platform.
Here are the two booking platforms that I have researched and found to be fantastic for all artists/professionals:
- Vagaro
- Acuity Scheduling - I use via Squarespace

My goodness this is facts. I have a business degree in marketing/management and I definitely saw some fishy stuff going on. I only been using them since June. Charges started off as just the transaction fee of $1.50, then went to 10% marketing fee, next thing you know it was “we’re taking 25% since we brought this client and reinvest it into marketing.” 😒 styleseat stop playing with me. They’ve been emailing me back and forth while still taking $40+ per client that they AREN’T bringing me 🤦🏽‍♀️ I completely closed my calendar and I’m about to close my account and just build my own website. Somebody in style seat saw an opportunity and got greedy. Without us stylists 🗣 they don’t have a platform 🤷🏽‍♀️

PREACH! That’s so upsetting! They were charging each of my clients $10 to book and another $10 if they moved their appointment. I had no clue. I’ve been using acuity and I like them so far! I’ve also heard great things about Vagaro.

@@browbeautybyvictoria wow, that’s terrible. All at the expense of those who are using their platform to better themselves 🤦🏽‍♀️ greed is going to be their downfall. I’ve heard about acuity and many people left styleseat for them. I may have to check it out!

For real same I’m about to close mine as well because if that one client did not open up to me I wouldn’t know what really happened they act like the want to help you but yet it for their own benefit

Thank you I thought I was the only one they was doing this too. They charge me the fee and everytime my clients give extra for tip, they take the tip too. They don’t only charge first time booking, they charge everytime. It’s so sad, yes someone need to get a law suit against them asap cause I want all my money back .

I was going to get back on StyleSeat cause things have been slow but now I remember why I deleted it in the first place lol. They took my tips all the time. Sometimes they’d take $75 from my whole appointment. They’re crazy 😭

Thank you for this video! I’m using Styleseat and I’ve reach out to them and haven’t gotten a response. I’m paying for Facebook ads and using the link. But, still being charged the marketing fee because they “brought me a new client”. Very frustrating!!

I’m so glad you found this video helpful! Please track the clients who contact you through your Facebook ads. Take screenshots of messages/comments and attach in your email to them to ensure they don’t charge you the “marketing fee.” You’ll lose so much income if you don’t!

Im so happy i found this.. i lost so much money on here..not to mention I'm paying monthly subscription.. dont hate yall. Lol😅..clients would send me a message dont get any message. And i always just so happen to go onvthe app and see u have messages.. they cancel and don't book because of this.

I’m new to StyleSeat as well! Definitely about to delete it! I don’t want clients thinking I’m trying to get over on them because Style seat changes my original price!

Sounds like someone needs to start a class action lawsuit! I was told by a good client that styleseat sends her emails promoting other hair stylist to book with! I’m DONE!

Styleset has also started to charge the clients the full amount before the service. Which causes that’s awkward interaction between us and the client.

She’s so not lying that happened to me yesterday I got a client come get a service from then she told me styleseat give them a 15 off apparently that 15 off come what ever service the client book for and the worst then is I the stylists not even aware of it

I’ve been with them for 5 years & I can’t take it anymore. The fees are outrageous & every day it’s a headache with them. I’m switching soon.

This was very helpful I love acuity but I was giving StyleSeat a try for more exposure but I've come to see there no customer service support at all. How do you get you account deleted from the platform?

I'm so sorry I missed this! I'm sure you figured it out by now, but those reading you will have to contact their customer support email and ask them to delete your account. You can have them send you your client list, but know that they will email all of your clients with competitors information.

I'm so sorry I missed this! I don't find styleseat to be a good app for gaining exposure. I would first join local Facebook groups for surrounding communities and post there. Build a website(I use Squarespace) and opt in for giving clients the option to sign up for email blasts(I have pop up). I send email marketing quite often. I'm also looking into displaying my services on class pass.

I found everything you said to be true. I figured that I’d check my clients of for a service lower than expected and they started asking me to pay an upfront cost of $50 for each client they brought me.

Im experiencing this now it is so annoying.....how are you charging me to book this person, I had a service I was suppose to get $100 for and they said since I had to pay for the "new client fee" not only that but I have to pay $35 a Month...they are so annoying

I keep mentioning random charges from styleseat to my stylist. Constant notifications from my bank for pending charges.

I did notice that they would charge .99 or 1.99 for booking appointments. This goes directly to them and your stylist is not notified when you are charged. It’s very unfortunate, but you can reach out to styleseat about this!

So far I’ve liked acuity because I have a square space website so it’s easy to manage, but I’ve also looked into Vagaro and LOVE that platform!

I wasn’t able to make my appointment and the stylist wouldn’t issue a refund or reschedule because I didn’t show. No phone number for style seat. If I’m booking through style seat I should be able to go through customer service at least not through a stylist that doesn’t want to work with me at all

This is common practice in the industry. Reason being is because by the client not coming to their appoinment, the stylist loses out on revenue. Hypothetically, if every client he/she had booked that day did the same thing there would be no revenue made. There are many expenses every stylist must pay that clients aren’t aware of(rent, supplies, booking system fees). If the stylist doesn’t have these processed in place, the will suffer greatly financially. Your missed appoinment could have gone to someone who was on wait list or perhaps asked for a sooner appoinment. Styleseat has positioned themselves as the booking platform and not so much client management. You are able to dispute via styleseat, but if you didn’t show to your appointment and your stylist tells them that they won’t issue the refund. Previous I wouldn’t charge for no-shows and I lost out on approximately 5,000 in one year. Your stylist was only protecting her/his business. It was nothing against you personally.
