04:29 - 04:58 Impressive comparison line up. In the morning Dr. Frunkey be like Yacht Master II, GMT Batman, Sea Dweller Sub, mmm... AquaTimer Chronograph Galapagos will do!
The bodega already had that separate lock bar piece. The curved lockface, backspacer, fuller, it goes on and on...it definetly looks like a begg knife still. I love the look of these.
Wow, I'd been watching Astio videos all week and was kind of surprised your channel didn't have one, then here we are. Also exactly the spec I'd pick on materials and finish. Love how the tang of the blade follows the lines of the frame when closed. That's s feature I became a big fan of years ago on Andre Thorburn and Tashi Bharucha designs. It just looks clean and more finished, and as you said, draws attention to the tight tolerances between blade and frame. As far as the flipper tab, I honestly have at least three knives I really love, which I would like even more if they had smooth flipper tabs with no jimping. I'd rather deal with the unlikely event of missing a flip than the ugly and uncomfortable jimping.
Ah man I’m gonna have to study that tip transition because it looks like two knives on top of another and it geometrically doesn’t make any sense. Maybe that’s the point but to a machinist like Todd there’s gotta be a reason
Very very nice. I actually think the fact that it’s a JVO design already is a big plus. He makes incredible designs. The fit and finish looks great.. the materials is well done .. it seems the really fit it all together quite well. If you stay out of the political side .. I think it’s worth every dollar.
I'm sorry dude, this knife is so butt-ugly. It's got a horrible crooked grind and nothing makes sense by the looks. There are fancy knives that look great, this is definitely not one of them.
Kar Lizen “You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”. The good thing is nobody is forcing you to buy it.😆
I read that after 3 years of not receiving a cent from the "California Group" Todd Begg has elected to sue them to recover proceeds from the group using his designs. I would sure like someone to confirm this so I can continue to purchase his Reate made knives without feeling I am supporting a knife maker I prefer not to be associated with. I presently own a half dozen of the "Steelcraft Series" and don't know if I feel good about doing so.
I like the blade finish but find the lockbar portion of the handle to be extremely ugly tbh. I wonder if all the Bodegas you find online marketed as "Begg knives" also aren't built by todd begg himself.
Todd built 5 Bodegas in the entire history of Begg Knives FYI. This has been clearly stated since the company started. All Bodegas except 5 of them were built by the same 5 guys over the last 8 years.
@@beggknivesofficial interesting to know. I've seen quite a few knives on sale marketed as "begg knives" in the last months, since i didn't knew about Todd and Begg Knives splitting up, I was wondering who was building what.
Unidesignstudio Design me to horrible customer service 6months to get an answer back and still never got the knife fixed they sharpened it to a recurve I asked for a sharpening choile after they wouldn’t replace the blade since it was there mess up and then they blew me off $2600 knife I had to then sell for around 1400 just to recover some money back cause blade was so messed up
Definitely at odds with my personal experience. I sent in a Steelcraft series Kwaiken for service once. They sent me a shipping label PDF so I didn't have to pay to send it, I got it back within a couple of weeks, if even that, and Mark personally answered my emails. Based on that I would definitely buy from them again and plan to.
