Ever wonder what nib size you should get? This is a video comparison of multiple pens and nibs- even within the same type of pen. Compared with: Pigma Micron 0.20mm & 0.25mm Gel Pen 0.38mm Mechanical pencil 0.7mm
I currently use .25mm microns for drawing but I want to start using fountain pens. To start with what fountain pen should I get if I wanted the nib size closest to my micron? Later I will probably want a slightly thicker nib. I loved the comparisons you made. I really like the look of the TWSBI but not sure if they would have the nib size I want.
@@jenniferjones3396 Hello! As an artist, you’re going to LOVE fountain pens!!! I just went to an urban sketching session and the artist was comparing his tools - including the Pigma microns and fountain pens. I would recommend getting an EF… not any Extra Fine but a Japanese EF. That’ll get you closest to the range you need. I have a video on the Pilot Metropolitan ($25), I have one on the TWSBI ($35- Taiwanese), & one on the Sailor 1911 Compass. I think the videos are all Fine nib, but you can get an idea of what that line looks like. Metropolitan & TWSBI F will run around 0.3 to 0.35. Also, this depends upon your ink (dry vs wet) & paper. To take the guess work out, use a stable Waterman’s ink or Parker Quink- both are cheaper and should be in your toolbox. If you have a chance, please check out my video on the Rapidograph pens- like microns but refillable! WELCOME to the rabbit hole, Alice!😍
