I’ve been watching for a year and I still struggle with getting them to look anything like this. I can do it, they just look very basic and amateur. :(
Thank you!! I'm so happy you find them happy! Have you seen my royal icing tutorial? I go over icing consistency there in more detail. You can watch it here, hope it helps: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HxGBClkllNE.html
Don't worry about it, you'll get there. It's definitely a process and takes a lot of practice. But with every set you will learn more and get better I promise! I've seen many people start out and now I'm just mind blown have far they've come. My cookoes used to look terrible when I started, so don't give up, you got this!
@@Normlyabnrml Take a photo of each set that you make. I promise that your cookies aren't as bad as you think. We can be very critical of our own work sometimes. Comparing your progress with pictures can be very reassuring.
I started a little Cookie business and it is doing well. I started off by watching your videos. I appreciate everything I learned from them. Thank you for your talent that's taking mine to another level!!😊💜
thank you for doing it in real time, I went to a dcorating class and the instructor said I was going to fast, its because I had been watching all the speeded up tutorials.... I had to really concentrate to slow down. These are simple but adorable. Will be making these this year. Though in Australia, I will be doing a Sandman, not a snowman !!
You're not the only one, so many people go so fast thinking that's really how you're supposed to do it because that's what all the videos show. And omg a sandman!!! That would make an adorable cookie 🥰🥰
Thank you for those clear instructions. Glad I found your channel. It’s my first time trying Royal icing decorating . The cookies are made, tomorrow I decorate. Hope they turn
This year will be the second time making royal icing Christmas cookies. Thanks to your videos, (You are a terrific teacher.) they turned out not terrible. This video has me looking forward to this year's batch.
Awesome work! Also, may I know, whats an alternative for a piping bag? My bag broke :( Poor thing lasted only 2 years lol! 😂 Anyways, I hope you all have a great Christmas! Merry Christmas everybody! ❤ May your lord give you strength and happiness throughout the coming years. Love yr work, girl. Keep it up! ❤❤
Thank you!! Corn sryp is the key to glossy icing (or as glossy as it will be when its dry). You can see my royal icing recipe here - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HxGBClkllNE.html
Can you use a normal cake decorating bag? And how do you get the black? Making cookies tomorrow and thought i would look up this method. Seen it for years, and didn't know what it was called. Making the cookies as gifts for neighbors and i would love for one to make suger cookies that didn't look like 1st graders decorated them! Lol
Sometimes if I think the area is big enough I won't do it. Or if I'm piping on a layer of icing that is just crusted over it I may not as it's not always needed. Or if I'm using my outline to fill it then I won't squiggle either
Thank you for your fantastic videos so glad you talk us through every step. If you are using flood/out line all in one, do you still put the little squiggles in the smaller spaces?
Thank you!! I always use 2 consistencies, but if you're only using 1, you would normally have it thicker than a regular flood, so it wouldn't be so prone to cratering. So you wouldn't need the squiggle.
These are so cute. Perfect for people who don't have christmas shaped cutters or don't have the patience for it. Santa is my favourite it looks so fluffy and plump. I've followed your tutorials before and they were much loved by family. Thank you.
The base is partially dry, so it has crusted over but if I push my finger on the icing it would push through. But you can pipe and it will stay on top of the cookie
I tried the first Christmas tree but when i went to do the dots, i presumed it was with your outline icing but I'm getting little tails as i dot them, any suggestions? That part of the video i fast, so wasn't sure how exactly how you were doing them, thanks!😅
Which cookie was it? I've posted so many videos I'm not sure anymore 🙈🤣 but if you are doing any wet on wet designs it's always best to use your flood for the dots. If it's dots on dry icing and you get peaks you can try using your flood with almost no pressure on the bag or you can use your outline but then touch the top with your scribe and sort of push down the peak or lay it a bit flat!
@@LittleCookieCo the first Christmas tree in this video with the little red dots as garland. I thought from your video its dry on dry, I did try pushing them down but they were stubborn lol. I'll try again with your suggestions, thanks again!
Ah ok! Sorry yes, I know what you mean now. And it was on dry icing, but it could be your icing is a bit stiff so when you pull up it's coming up. Mine also may look perfect but they do sometimes have a bit of a peak too. Try going in with the scribe or thinning down your icing just slightly, and when you put the dot on, make sure your bag is right above the cookie and almost squish the dot if icing against your cookie then let go of the pressure and lift up. Hopefully that will help break the tail and not have it stick up so much
@@LittleCookieCo I'll keep that in mind for my next try, thank you! When you suggest thinning down the icing, I'm presuming i have to empty the bag back into a bowl, thin it then put it back into a bag? I'm guessing there's no way to thin what you are already using in the bag?
Yeah you'd have to put it back into the bowl. I mean you could add a touch of water to the bag and smash it around til mixed 🤣 but it's probably not the best method and you may add too little or too much water. I'd only re mix some water if it was really bad (it bugged you a lot) or your scribe wasn't doing the job well. But I can guarantee most people wouldn't notice those tiny details. You could also just knock them off with the scribe too once dry, I've also done that a few times 🤣🤣 fun and effective haha
