So where I live I feel really lucky for dam fishing. Around me is J Edward Roush, Missinewa, and Salamonie all three dams. The divers that went down to fix Missinewa when I was a kid said never again, supposedly had catfish bigger than them in it. Dam fishing is my favorite and I dare say I would almost rather be catching Drum at Missinewa than white or black crappie slabs or blue cats any day. I've decided what I like the very best about your videos that you show lots of casts between catching fish. There are rare times when we catch one on almost every cast but it more often takes a lot of casts to catch a fish on an artificial lure.
The siren is not for the lock its for them turning on more generators or opening the gates that could cause the water to rise. Opening and closing the locks doesn't effect the water level. I have locked through those locks 40 to 50 times Been a few years I think 2007 or 2008 was the last time i went through them. I used to fish below both dams when they where letting water out I found if you used a heavier lure or ad some weight to get it deeper you could catch bigger fish. I used to know that river pretty well from cordell hull dam down to cheatam dam. Yep the skip jack do make good bait for sure. Thanks for sharing and keeping it Real!!!
Next time if u want to keep them without ice (dead bait) u can perform “ike jime” it works well with keeping the freshness as long as u keep it out of direct sun beam and occasionally wetting it will keep them from spoiling for bait or eating!
I think at this dam, at then end of these rocky road towards the dam, there is a honey hole full of catfish. It's in a little cutaway without current, and is deep.
I go up on lunch (work at carmax in rivergate as a tech) and fish. Catch skip jack and sell them to a paylake in portland. call it overtime 😂. Still waiting to run into you man!
Take those on a hot day. I caught a 1 lb 14oz bass today and lost another of similar size. Then I managed to find every snag in the lake and broke 6 inches off both my rods and had to call it a day. Started good, ended sour.
Lots of fun there! I'd much rather catch a lot of small fish back to back than spend hours on one or two lunkers. That's just me though. How does the intro thing work, do you request them or do folks just send them in?

Alex those were really good sized Skipjack for saltwater stripe and big catfish. It's hard for them to resist the double grubs while working them close to the top like that. 👊👍

Realistic Fishing why on earth would you use only 6 lbs test. A fish would snap your line in a heartbeat here in Florida. The rule is down here 15 lbs is a good start point and move up from there. That or braid. 6 lbs is nothing compared to what we catch here. Snappers, kingfish, tarpon, sharks, and sawfish basically if you use lower than 15 you have no line as you get snapped unless you fish lakes and rivers to which you start at 8 lbs and work your way up. My rods are set with 30 lbs test with one Carolina as a base of 80 lb mono and a 30 lb mono leader. Dams don’t exist in Florida unless you fish lake oakacobee down south but that’s on a system of levees.
