You could put a door on the back so you could use it as a dino trap. The dino chases you inside then you exit the door, run around and close the gate. You could put the door on the back and then build a small sidewalk around to the gate door.
😢i havent played in like 2 years and im currently on herbivore island with about 10 tames... i was worried it was going to take multiple trips to move them to my final base location... you have no idea how helpful this is!
@@Fynixmech can’t go any further than the pillar Won’t let the foundation be put under Only allows the foundations to get attached to the fence foundation Think it’s safe to say it’s patched I guess I’m kind of stuck
Obviously I'm super late, but head to swank grab a baryonx hit south cave and clear it grab obsidian, dung beetle metal and crystal, make polymer and craft cryopods
Too bad this is no longer possible. The problem is you cannot place the first foundation in the center of the pillar. I guess the game maker was worried players would make the X plant dino killer boats again.
Nice design you've got, thanks for sharing. I just wanted to mention that you don't have to do the old ASE pillar and fence foundation to lower foundations anymore. With the new ASA build mechanics you can use the cursor keys to raise them up and down after the first click when placing them (same time as when you can rotate the structure). Saves some time and resources and it's also very handy for base building on slightly bumpy ground to minimise having to split your foundations over two levels.
Thanks! Yeah I found out this way shortly after making this vid. The only thing I don't like it you kind of have to eyeball it more to try to line the foundation up straight. I can see where it would be useful though for sure.😄
By any chance do you know how to override the “can’t place stone ceiling: Requires nearby foundation support” or how to add foundations to the stone ceilings so I can build out a stone ceiling one more so it’s 3x4
Add ceilings to the tops of dino gates, add "doorway walls" all around those new ceilings and you got a taming cage on top to drop wild dinos into Youll also need somewhere to stand to tranq them from, so either make the pen itself a bit smaller, or add extra ceiling etc, do it to suit you Personally i would use Pillars not gates, and build the cages out to the side, and remember you can build out about 5 tiles from your original foundations now, and go relatively high Only real limit is when it comes to navigating trees, rocks, canyon walls etc Always find your own personal balance of Form vs Function Great design though, and thanks for sharing, hit the LIKE people, it is the LEAST you can do for YTers Ooh and dont forget Tuso deterarets like Turrets or Plant Species X maybe on the sloped bits I dont play official settings, so YMMV, but i havent tweaked raft restrictions AFAIK
Definitely can do this as well! I have a few versions of a taming boat on my channel. Plan to do an ASA one as well. Thanks for watching and for weighing in on it too! 😁
When I do the 8 triangle ceilings I can’t place the last 3 because it says “can’t place stone triangle ceiling: This structure is too far away from the platform!” What should I do to fix this problem? I’ve already placed the 2x3 stone ceilings and the 1x5 stone ceilings but it won’t let me make it 4x4 from the rudder, can I please have some help from anyone? I am also on PS5 This is kind of urgent so I’d appreciate if someone could reply and help me out Also what are your settings? Maybe I can set my settings to the same as yours and I’ll be able to build out further
Whsat the hell fell out of the sky at the beginning and landed in the water please I keep replaying it and I cant tell.. its so random XD GG on the Tute!!
Yeah most raft builds tend to be kind of tight and close to the build limit. Some people have different priorities in what they like in their base so you can change as you need to.
Been waiting for you to make this video for ASA...Thanks! Learned something new for the control stick. I had a cellar door their but like your ramp idea better.
I've always wanted to raft around some areas but my main issue is I play ASE on console (I know this is ASA but that's not on console yet so I've no idea if it'll have the same issue) and as far as I know on console there's no way to zoom the camera out, even in orbital. So if I build too much, I frankly, can't see shit, and can't drive LOL. This can be someone mitigated on plat saddles due to first person riding, though not ideal. Other than that, certain dinos are EXTREMELY prone to slipping off. Great tutorial, I just wish the platform didn't keep me from trying it properly!
Thanks for thinking so! I played on console for years with raft builds. You can't zoom out either way. I think whenever I made huge builds, they were either see-through or I just drove with the force lol. It is annoying you'd think this simple change they would fix.
@@FynixmechHahaha, I clearly don't have the force! I was rafting in circles like a chicken with its head cut off cuz I couldn't even tell the front of the boat. XD It is annoying, but making it see-through is a good plan when possible. I'll keep that in mind!
Fantastic tutorial. This is the first one I’ve ever seen that made me actually want to give it a try. I had to make one slight adjustment with the fence foundation placement but it turned out the same as yours. The field of view isn’t the best, but I can’t see many designs being better. All in all, I’m pleased with my new boat. It was big enough to tote my raptor around, as well as picking up a carby, two iguanodons, and a dilo. I think I’m going to adapt this into a cargo ship for bringing back, more/larger tames as well
I’m doing this on ps5 and it was a little different at the start you can’t place a foundation on the pillar at the middle you have to move it closer to the side of the raft it took a couple tries but once I was able to place 3 foundations it was a go from there I appreciate the help took me 4 hours but it’s finished 😅
It's soooooo much better! I'm excited to play with it more. It's definitely taking some suggestions from some mods and put them into the vanilla game. Which is awesome, I'm so excited for console players
I was looking for something to build to safely transport my dinos. Looks like this is it! In the rear section I made it one more tile wide and long to fit more dinos in it. The only thing I might have to play with is adding a roof in the rear to protect from the air; although so far it's only been Ichthyornis that have attacked. In "K" mode I can zoom out farther to see better and see underwater, though I can't steer in that mode. I tried putting wall torches on the inside vertical walls to light it up and even a campfire but they don't seem to provide any light, only my handheld torch does. If curious, I put two storage cabinets on the inside walls, four more smaller storage boxes on each side, and still fit three Raptors, two Lystros, and an Ichythornis, then just me and my trusty shouldered Dimorphodon at the helm. In the back: two Stegos, two Sabertooths, an Argentavis, and a Perasaur. I would like to fit my other dinos in there too but I might just take two trips.
Yeah, I feel like this build is good for a specific dino/dinos with a specific purpose or task you're going to do. If you're trying to move a whole base worth of dinos there's other designs that would be a little bit better at it. That's pretty great how many dinos you are able to fit in there though!
@Fynixmech I ended up adding a ceiling using hatch openings for light one level below gate height except for one tile in the center closest to the oar so that I could see where I was going. Then added a small door to one side of the gate to get out of since it's all enclosed now. Worked great! This build reminds me of armored boats from the Civil War era.
Most won't. Some dinos can destroy stone, but it's not very many of them. Every one's like the theri can destroy stone, but you can knock it out before it breaks the boat.
A guy tested the count on a video I watched, seems still 88 but the Weight may have been... was just thinking IF you could combine 2, you could do more and make a HUGE floating Base ... this also means the one raft would have to move them all, sounds like a good test. @@Fynixmech
@Jeffs40K I believe they would all have to be modular in order to work. I've had a base like that before but each raft is it's own separate thing. As far as I know there isn't a way to connect them but hat would be super cool if you could.
It's possible on some servers with certain settings gates may not be able to be placed past a certain update. I haven't been able to test it since then but I will test soon.
@@Fynixmech yeah I see what you mean, I just spent hours building a taming boat like this and took hours to figure it all out. Turned out Great though, and I actually turned the ramp going into the steering shaft around and closed it in with a door that leads into an underwater moon pool escape, I’m working on it some more tonight to see if I can close it all in and make a small underwater animal pen with that door going into the water from inside the cabin.
If this method doesn't work, you can adjust the height by moving forward or back once you click to place down a foundation. There's a step in between before it is set.
If you use a hatch frame in the front ceiling you can park your bird on top and still get to it. If that's still a thing. This is similar to my raft build on ASE. Awesome to see I got options and can still build it in ASA. If you lower the foundation so the wooden crossbeam on the raft can you place one at the tiller and still access the helm?
You know it would have been 4 pieces cheaper on your build limit for the exact same effect if you'd done sloped full roof pieces rather than triangles for the sides, right?
thanks for the reply, I finally found a way placing a pillar, square ceiling, half wall going down and finally the foundation.. enjoying your boat build right now
When placing the back 6 ceilings, the middle spot in the last row will not let me place a ceiling tile giving the reason that it's too far from a foundation. I placed all foundations as shown in the video, so no idea why just that spot is giving me trouble. I was able to place one behind the tiller as shown, but not that one rear spot. odd Also, having a really hard time using stone roofs for the aft ramps. They will not attach the way they do in the video so I may have to use wooden ramps
That's odd it won't place. I had a hard time with the roofs. It took me a couple of tries to place all of them. It took a lot of moving around and cycling through snap points.
I placed a stone foundation on the Drive part of the raft and it allowed it to be placed just make sure you do it quick so you can pick up the foundation.
That's stinks...I keep hearing it doesn't work on console it seems. Or maybe it's something they just changed. They change alot in the beginning based on the players.
First thing you should do is change your server settings. Js this is never mentioned in these videos this ain’t official settings it’s been modified why doesn’t anyone ever even mention this in these build videos?
I did mention it in the first 30 seconds of the video and it was done on a dedicated server with official settings. Which is why I had trouble placing some things. I try to be as transparent as I can in my videos and always try to troubleshoot if people have a problem. Not my fault if people don't read or miss steps in the videos 🫠 Problem with official is if people abuse something the devs usually change it, which would make something not work. I usually put any changes in the description if that's the case.
You just do it manually and eyeball it. You can sink foundation yourself. Click once to place and then by moving forward and back you can raise or lower foundation. Then build off of that one.
I turned off my motion blur. It seemed to help, but the last update made things really weird. You just gotta try a bunch of things out and see what works.
