I also feel cringe when a MUA grab on client’s head when they apply makeup. And you are right as MUA that self learned, they need to take some lessons from a professional Makeup Artist class, since they will get Do& Don’t when we are working on clients. Great video, girl..❤️
I want to share a story, I had a photoshoot last February. There was another MUA, while I carried 4 heavy bags & she just carried a lunch box. I was wow, and wondered how. Turned out she didn’t bring any brushes, not even skin prep, cotton tips, disposables, not even tissue! She literally just brought a makeup pallet, 1 shade of foundation! Turned out she never had a photoshoot before, never work on clients. That’s why I’m so agree why a self thought MUA need to learn in professional MUA class.
@@citramousquita3812 WOW! I’m guessing she probably just brought whatever makeup she used on herself and thought that would work! How did she end up doing??
1st she asked me to borrow my brushes & I had to ask no, how come you go to a war without bring your weapons?! Then she ended up using client’s brushes, cotton pads, tissues.
The reason I didn’t let her to borrow my brushes was because, we had to 3 models, so let say if she used 10 brushes for each model it means I have to wash another 30 brushes at home then 😱🔫. And what if 1 of my brush lose without she realised. You know how chaotic sometimes before the photoshoot. And how she ended up borrow client’s stuffs was because we were at client’s place.
100% agree on training! I’m not certified but I had some one on one training with Pro MUA for about a month, so I’m fairly new at this. I watched your previous video about affordable starter makeup kit, the kit doesn’t make you better, but work on techniques and makeup skill itself. Thank you so much for making awesome videos. Definitely, super helpful for new MUAs like myself :)
@@julieruby you’re welcome. Your videos inspire me ❤️ I’m so excited for my first ever gig in my new home state WI 😍 also, I ended up buying Releval case that you use on the videos!! Will arrive next week wooohooooo 🙌🏽
Hi Julie! Thanks for all your videos ! They are so helpful! I was wondering if you could do a video on how to pick eyeshadow combinations to do a look. I struggle to plan out the eye look and what colors would go together. Can you also do a video on how to remove makeup mistakes. Like if you mess up liner what would be your tip on removing it/ correcting it without messing up other makeup ? Thanks!!
Hi thank you so much! I’m really glad you’re loving all the content :) For eyeshadow combos, I mostly just have them show me reference photos and also ask about their wedding colors as well. From there i just consult with them about their makeup preferences and choose colors based upon those things. Ooo makeup mistakes would be a great idea! Thanks so much for that suggestion :)
Hi Kimberly! Are you referring to my station setup? If so, I have a generic setup, but it definitely will vary depending on the amount of space that I have.
I love your channel ! By far the most helpful channel I’ve came across && I appreciate it. You show the behind the scenes of being a MUA. Also the come up of being a MUA.
Julie ive been binge watching your videos getting ready to do a bridal party of 6. Im fairly new in the game. Can you PLEASE do a video on how you choose eyeshadow colors/combination for each person in the party (if they all want different things) please help me🥺🥺🥺🥺
Usually I'll go by the wedding colors or bridesmaid dresses to determine color palettes! I would stick around the same color family (ex: brown/champagne), but you can make some looks lighter/darker, do a winged liner on one person, do a more smoky look on another. You still want to keep the looks uniform, but not so similar that they can't be distinguished from each other. Does that make sense? To be honest though, most bridesmaids don't care what I do on them and leave it up to me :)
i got my makeup professionally done for my besties wedding last month & my eyes were watering so much not bc of the mascara but bc the muas light was so god damn bright!! i sat there uncomfortable asf bc i had to look up for my concealer to not crease & she kinda didn’t pick up on the signal so i ended up saying something but the lights be crazy 😭
This was so helpful! Thank you so much. Great tips! Do you have any recommendation for affordable full coverage foundations when starting out building your kit, because the one's I have been recommended from makeup artist groups are super expensive.
Hi Nora! I’m glad you enjoyed the video :) I just uploaded a video that I linked in the cards going over products I recommend for a beginner makeup kit and I go over every category of makeup products including foundations! They are all super affordable :) I think the only one I forgot to mention is the Milani 2 in 1 foundation. That one is by far the fullest coverage drugstore foundation I’ve found. It’s a dupe for the KVD lock it foundation :)
I'm 18. My mom recently passed away 7 months ago with COPD. I've just graduated high school. I've been doing a lot of makeup looks. I want to pursue my dream of becoming a famous makeup artist who does makeup on Hollywood actresses and female musicians and even release my own makeup line at Ulta Beauty, Walmart, Target, CVS, and other stores worldwide in 10 years or so.
Oh I’m so sorry to hear about your mother passing! As far as your career, you are still so young and have a long life ahead of you. If you want to achieve these things within the next 10 years… bust your butt and go for it! I never thought I’d be where I am today!
@@julieruby Thanks Julie. I'm going to plan to make my makeup cheap and affordable to where people can buy it. I've already got a name for my cosmetic line. My middle name is Maebelle. I got "Mae" from my grandmother, and "Belle" from Beauty & The Beast. That's the middle name that my parents gave me. So I've already got my cosmetics line name: "Maebelle Cosmetics".
I don't have family and friends to practice on. I have studied makeup but I still feel that Im not where I want to be. Is there any other ways to practice on people?
The thing I struggle with the most as a new MUA is organisation. Today I had a literal child’s desk to work off of & a couch 😆 I felt everything was everywhere & I was scrambling to find things.
Organization is definitely essential! I’m so sorry you had to work with that. It sounds super uncomfortable! Condensing your kit will be very valuable for this :)
@@julierubythank you so much! I was stressed lol 😆 and I’m trying to learn to let things go too because I’m so self critical & a perfectionist! Finding your channel has been a god send! Thank you! ❤❤❤
The only time I’ve had to hold someone’s head is when they’re bobbing back and fourth while their eyes are open, I ask first though and it’s just enough for them to have a sense of where theyre situated.
Hi ! Would you plz show us in a video the good behavior with you client form the beginning from the day that she hire you to the end of work ...like what questions de you need to ask her what she needs to know what protect us as a makeup artist ....more more details plzzzzzz .
Hi Amina! I've covered some of this topics on my "Business for Makeup Artists" playlists on my channel! Let me know if you still have questions and I can definitely go over them in a video for you :)
I've watched this video probably 5 times now! I've been doing makeup for a couple years now but this video really motivates me whenever I have a client the next day! You're awesome! Thank u!
Hi!! I've been running through your videos for like 3 days already and I've been learning so much. ♥️♥️♥️ I'm preparing to launch my own freelance business as a makeup artist here in Philippines and your tips for beginners like me are so helpful! Looking forward to more video tips from youuuu♥️♥️♥️♥️
Hi Searl Paul! I'm so glad all my videos have been helpful for you :) If there is any I can make in addition to the ones I have up, feel free to let me know!!
Yes it’s possible to contract AIDS/HIV from another person through open wounds. That’s why it’s super important to make sure everything is sterilized and clean!
