I had been using fritzing but wanted something a little more professional, came across DipTrace and realized I have no idea wth I'm doing. Thanks to your video alone it's like I've used this the whole time. Thank you.
Hi iviacrnec, thanks for sharing! I tired the panelizing option this morning and i agree, its much easier / better way of duplicating! I'll leave a detailed comment in the video on how to do it. Thanks again!
dude, I love your stuff. You dont know how helpful this shizzle is to me at the moment but you're a lifesaver. I always find your vids very helpful & informative, no bollox or shite talk, you just say how it is & thats what people need. Nicely done mate, now off to watch the pcb board making vid. keeping doing what you do \m/ \m/
To do a multiple copy of a board use edit -> panelizing option. When you do it with this tool, you can change something on one board, and it changes automatically one every copy. Before you do that, you must place board outline.
Thanks for this! I was incredibly frustrated, I just wanted a VERY simple layout but found all the software packages completely unintuitive. 20 mins after downloading this, I have my design completed.
You should download rullywows excellent guitar effects library. It has all the common component sizes such as leds, caps, resistors, diodes, etc, plus it even has things like enclosed pcb mount jacks, footswitchs, potentiometers etc, very easy to use and completely cuts out the battle to find the right size components.
Try using circuit wizard, it is a much better program. Always in 3D. You could rotate parts without the traces getting all screwed up. The library is a bit limited though.
How do you deal with off board components like 3pdt switches etc? Do you make your own custom patterns? Great tutorial. Learned tons. I'm designing a splitter/distribution amp in schematic mode. I'm working through it but it's taking a while. Bit of a learning curve. Your tutorials helped me immensely.
Hey mate! another great video! thanks a lot for this very easy to understand starting point! im trying to apply it to the sound2light veroboard layout. just don't get it yet the copper pour stuff....its really necessary? cheers Paul
Np Chris, I have a tutorial series coming up showing start to end how to design a single layer board for etch and double layer board for fabricating. Stay tuned for those!
Hi nice tutorial, ill watch the rest in the morning as its late and I need to sleep but I have a question. I did a search earlier about converting a .jpg to gerber and I saw someone write that you can import the .jpg into dip trace (as a reference image I'm guessing) and then draw your pads and track over the top. How you ever done this or know how it might be done? Could be useful if you want to duplicate an existing PCB from a photograph.
hello. I m having trouble finding a proper component for 3dpt foot switch and 6.5 mm stereo socket. i am trying to design a board with all the elements connected to the pcb without any wires connecting the pots, jacks and switches. thank you.
+Shrawal Rp Maybe check rullywows diptrace library, you can get it on madbean forum (you will need to be a member). Its under the "cadsoft eagle" subsection of the forum. Good resources in there as well! Cheers
I am wondering the exact same thing. From the looks of it a copper pour is standard even when facing through OSH Park, but I have no idea why people do it.
