Thanks Eric! I'm working on a p-trap video that should be out this week. I'll be going over the best ways to work with p-traps and my top tips along the way. Do you have any ideas for videos I could do in the future? Or is there anything you'd like me to review for you?

Great vid! You should look into making simple tiny connector equipment families rather than hiding fixtures, since it will allow you to auto tag in risers, elevations, etc.
@mep_guy
@mep_guy 2 года назад
Great Point Miles! Yes I definitely do that. I've been trying to teach beginners how to get things done using the out of the box families. In my course (that I'm working on) I show how to create custom fixtures that serve exactly those purposes along with some other more advanced stuff. I'll definitely be doing a video on custom fixtures. Probably in the near future. Thanks for the Comment! Let me ask you, do you just use a single connector, or do you create a fixture with multiple connectors, ie. cw, hw, san, vent?
@mdj391
@mdj391 2 года назад
@@mep_guy I normally make three basic families, one as a simple cylinder extrusion with a DCW connection, a pair with DCW and DHW conns with a type-modifier that allows me to space them apart, and lastly a sanitary connector family. The danger in this, of course, is if I change a type mark for a DCW fixture and forget to change the type mark for the sanitary and vice versa. Scheduling is pretty easy, since you just make the schedule based on type marks and sort to unique values only. This also makes risers super easy to do, since you just run the “tag all in view” command…
@mep_guy
@mep_guy 2 года назад
Thanks for the feedback Miles! I see a lot of good ideas. I definitely agree, being able to use the "tag all" for the fixtures in your risers is a huge time saver! I think I can show you a few more tricks as well to help manage your fixtures. You've definitely gotten to the more advanced stages of Revit MEP. Being able to create fixtures / families and manipulate them is the most powerful tool Revit offers. Can't wait to make this video!

Was Wondering if you could do an example of a Radon system!
@mep_guy
@mep_guy 5 месяцев назад
Radon systems are actually very simple. It's typically a 4" perforated pipe below the slab that has vents connected to the piping that terminate above the Roof of the building. They are typically on apartments with HUD requirements.
@jcocco.1
@jcocco.1 5 месяцев назад
Thanks for the info!! Do you happen to know if they slope typically?
@mep_guy
@mep_guy 5 месяцев назад
@@jcocco.1 no slope required. Since they are perforated the water will enter and exit as needed. They are typically wrapped in a material so the soil stays out. I'm don't know that much about requirements to be honest. I just know the general function.

Hello, the fixtures I have imported in my project do not have the option to create pipe like your video in 2:56. Is there a way to set this up or do I have to import a more friendly fixture? Where can I download the libraries you used?

This is very helpful. Where do you get the families and the architectural background file? I just started and I have nothing, so knowing where to get that kind of stuff would be very useful
@mep_guy

The familes should be located on you computer in the program data folder. In newer versions of revit 2022 and up you can use the insert tab and download them from the cloud. Google "locate families in revit" and you should be able to find some documentation. Check out my Plumbing fixtures video where I show how to get to the familes on your computer.

@@mep_guy thank's for your response, i'm doing it right now! Yes, well, i didnt saw your course yet but, maybe you can teach how to make auto sizing for sanitary ventilation pipes!
@mep_guy
@mep_guy 2 года назад
@@julianocanarinfernandes6614 That would be a very good topic to cover. While revit cannot automatically size sanitary and vent piping, there are some good techniques for accomplishing this. I hope to have an auto sizing video out this week.
