These methods are so refreshing to watch. I hate the way that people train horses where I live. When I had a horse they mocked the way I did things. I am learning so much from these videos and no longer feeling foolish for not following popular trends. Thank you.
Hi Susan and Welcome! Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed this video. Should you be interested in more I offer online Bitless, Balanced & Connected Riding Course and many more. Please click here www.taoofhorsemanship.com/online-masterclass-courses.
You let the Horse talk to you and you listen 🐴 i love that 💜💜💜 Horses have rights and need to be listened to 🕊 thank you again Caroline 🕊 Laura , from California 🇺🇸
Oh Caroline, we didn't see you get up with a loose girth. It would be so awesome if you could redo that part especially knowing how many of us most likely do not get on from the ground correctly. Thanks
I get that you have to be in shape to mount without the block. But I would actually like to see you mount from the ground. The video didn't show the actual mounting. It showed you standing beside the horse ready to mount, then it cut out and next you were already on the horse's back. Maybe it's my video feed.
Hi Ellie! LOL! I'm not a gymnast! The reality is this, as we age we get less limber and it's harder to jump and second, you don't ever want to jump on your horse's back unless you are VERY skilled, light and gentle. Besides, 99% of the rider's are not able to mount bareback from the ground. That's precisely why I created this video. To show you the many other ways we can mount our horses and without trying to jump on them and hurt them. To answer your question about the video cutting out...please read the intro. Most of my short videos, including this one, are snippets of the full-length training videos. Like a movie commercial, they are designed to give you a synapse of what's to come and entice you to buy the rest! P.s...I do show you how to properly mount from the ground using an english saddle. You have to sign up for my blog to watch the remainder of this video, the full length.
@@TaoofHorsemanship fair enough. My instructor can mount from the ground (she's no young thing, either) and she is always showing me how to mount from the ground. But I've reached the conclusion that I'm just not going to be doing it unless it's an emergency. When I do mount from the ground it is very ugly and it hurts me, so I know it's not comfortable for my horse. Therefore, the heck with that. I'll put my concentration on a smooth as silk mounting from a mounting block/stump. I enjoy your videos and I think you love all your horses (like I love my boy). I think you are fair but firm the way a horsewoman/man should be. Also, I had to laugh at that one horse that was running ti the gate because he/she wanted out too. "HEY! WAIT FOR ME! I WANT OUT TOO!" Lol. 🤣
Hi Everyone and Welcome! Please pay attention to this video's introduction, the type, and where I write that this video is a snippet, short vid, of the full-length video found on my Everything Horses & More! video library. Meaning, you will only see parts of the full-length (30-50 minute) videos from now on, including this video. That's because this short video is a commercial, or teaser, to the full-length. If you like what you see and want to see and learn more, you will need to subscribe to my video library called Everything Horses & More! Hey Caroline not sure you have watched your video at 7.34 mins - it cuts out and does not show how you actually mount from the ground. Perhaps you could include that in another video as its missing. Lovely work either side of that timing though. Bless
Hi Caroline 🥰 Not sure, if it was intentional -but there was a cut, in the video, from you, standing on the ground, about to get on your horse, using the stirrups -and till you sit in the saddle..! So -the video doesn't, actually, show you getting on your horse, by just using the stirrups...?!🤔 Best wishes 🥰 from Hanni
Hi Hanni! Please read the description. It tells you this is a snippet, short version of the 30-minute training video found in mi video library. The full version shows you everything! I hope you join! www.taoofhorsemanship.com/video-library
Hi Holly and Welcome! Yes, that is correct, you did not see me mount from the ground in this short video and it was done on purpose. This video is a snippet, short vid, of the full-length video found on my Everything Horses & More! video library. I state this in the intro of this short video too. While I will continue to put free training videos on my youtube channel, the bulk of my training videos will no longer be free. You will receive short vids, or commercials, of the longer version which can be found on my subscription video library. I’ve owned my horse for 15 years. She has this habit of stepping sideways right before I mount making it difficult to get on. I won’t get on when she does this. I move her back to where she was and try repeatedly. Maybe after a half hour she will stand still. Any suggestions? I’ve had a trainer and her method didn’t work which is the correction I’ve mentioned.
Hi Cindy and Welcome! I wish there was a simple technique or answer to help you and there isn't. That's because having our horse stand still for us to get on means they trust us and are connected to us. Simple techniques, like walking them around the block, lining them us, tapping with the crop to get over, don't work because we are making the horse not asking or earning that level of trust. My method teaches you to get permission to get on. We don't ride until we do and trust me it can be a long process for horses that have damage from negative riding and training. In the end, it is so worth it because the process of acquiring permission is transformative in every way. All of my riding videos on my channel show horses giving permission. I wouldn't ride without it. Some of the videos talk about the process but if you want to learn how to develop the relationship and ride of your dreams with your horse, my big riding foundation program will show you how www.taoofhorsemanship.com/horse-riding-holistic-program. I also offer a mothly subscription to my video library www.taoofhorsemanship.com/horse-training-holistic-videos. I have several short courses on re-training the traumatized riding horse that would help you as well as few clinics and hundreds of videos.

I was described how to swing up it but nobody could show me due to back injuries. 😭 Luckily the only large horse there was a Saddlebred and he could park all the way out to make his back just as low as the 15 Hand horses.
It's not wrong, it's just harder on the horse's back and the saddle. Doesn't break a saddle mounting once like that, but little by little over time there is more stress put on it (nearly always the same side). I bet when you were a kid you were more limber than you are now - at least, that's generally the case as people get older.
If you ride some other trainers horses you might seriously need a helmet because the horsie brain is reacting and not thinking. Is it not better to alleviate the need for the helmet in the first place? I would think the answer is glaringly obvious.
