I've been crocheting for over 20 years and I have to say this is one of the best crochet tutorials I have ever watched. It's perfectly descriptive, I have no questions and it isn't loaded with any unnecessary or confusing information. I'm very impressed, good work!!!

I wholeheartedly agree!! I’ve been crocheting for over 40 years and I AVOID tutorials because of so many reasons but THIS is so well done. Elyse, you’ve put together something so beautiful. It’s the most comprehensive tutorial I’ve ever seen, but it’s not overwhelming. At all. I continue to be impressed with how quickly you’ve managed to pick up this craft! Great job!

Yesssss let's make the hand craft community bigger. It's the best hobby to have. Wow, you may be a beginner but your tutorial skills are ADVANCED. I've been crocheting only for a few months and what you've done is so smart and better than what most YT tutorials do in that you offer three different notations (the video of you crocheting, the symbols and the abbreviations) but you also make note of things that easily trip up beginners like which hole to stitch into. So smart and so proud of you for dreaming this up and leveling up the crochet video tutorial game.

OMG, I’ve been crocheting for over 50 years. Your tutorial is amazing. My mom taught me to crochet when I was a teenager. I made lots of granny squares for a throw then lost interest, so my mom ended up sewing them all together to finish it. I never crocheted again until about 5 years ago, and I did the same as you. I jumped headfirst into a project, never having read a pattern or anything. Lots of learning since then. I've watched tons of video tutorials, and yours was truly refreshing. You explained the process and the stitch sequence in small "chunks", and included the reason for certain stitches, like the increase. The organization of the info was perfect. The instructions were included at the top of the screen, the preview told us what was next, there was a visual showing what it was supposed to look like, and the corresponding symbols were easy to identify. Your pacing was just right, and your background music was very relaxing. You gave a lot of information, but it wasn't overwhelming at all. It's hard to believe it's your first tutorial or that you haven't been crocheting for years. You're a natural!

@abarbienamedken3334
@abarbienamedken3334 Месяц назад
So I think what happened was you need to mark your first double crochet stitch. You're probably counting the chain 3 and it looks like a 17th stitch. If you let out one stitch you may be accidentally letting out your increase and that's how you got 14. I ALWAYS mark first and last stitch in circles and then count between the two stitch markers. That number should be the correct number of stitches. Plus it helps me find where I need to slip stitch it together. It can get kinda clunky to work around, but having to push aside some markers every once in a while beats frogging and redo it a million times over coz you lost count. Ps: (I put stitch markers on every first stitch of every row in square/row based projects and I sometimes even keep a counter app up. It slows you down a bit but so does redoing 3 rows coz you miscounted lol)

Hi, I've been crocheting for years, but this is a great pattern and you did a wonderful job of teaching it! I love that you showed the chart and written patters both for each step. A fun trick that I learned a long time ago for working with two colors is to feed a drinking straw onto each yarn before I start. It helps to keep the different yarns from tangling with each other.

You are a gifted teacher and I hope that you continue and that your channel and your business continue to grow. I love how you explain things in several different ways. This is the very best style of teaching. I taught chemistry for several years and that is how I taught that complex subject. Everyone has different styles of learning and by showing the connections, it helps our brains remember things better (at least it does for me). It also helps us learn about a style that is less natural (like the pattern symbols) with one that comes more naturally, like visual learning or auditory learning, for instance. Your pauses with explanations is really helpful for beginners. I am not a beginner, but I had to learn many of the things that you explain in my own by trial and error before the days of RU-vid. This is fantastic for beginners or people new to this design who aren’t beginners too! I think you are awesome!

My ADHD brain could actually following along with this entire video and not get distracted (much), which is impressive! I dabbled in crochet back in the day and am looking to try again. Did I watch this whole video with absolutely no crochet supplies? Yes. Yes I did. So I’ll be back once I actually have supplies :) please keep making these videos! I’m sure it takes a ton of work to make these, but I learned so much already! I appreciated that you went in real time for the first couple times before speeding up the video. My brain needed that. Thank you for doing this!

This is one of the best tutorials I have ever seen. I've followed you for a while, and now I wish you had a channel just for crocheting tutorials. I have dyscalculia and keeping up with counting is hard for me. So, this one might be hard for me, but I would like to try it. My bedroom is gray and teal, and I might make a cool blanket using that color palette.

I used your tutorial after I was asked to make a granny blanket for someone. Your squares were perfect!! Hubby calls it The Brady Bunch blanket because I used every color I could find, but honestly it is a beautiful blanket. I'm now making a second one in patriotic colors!

All of it, all at once, all the time. Sign me up. I'm actually watching this because I need something to listen to while I crochet. I'm not sure I'm motivated to make a granny square yet. I'm super excited to learn to read patterns. I too jump in head first on projects. I am currently making my first piece of adult sized clothing. A flowwy tank top. Yeah that's not a word.

As someone who runs a crochet business and a chaotic crochet RU-vid channel, occasionally sharing tutorials, this is really TOP NOTCH work. You did amazing. I'm so sorry you've had drama over the fact that you released this tutorial but you did a great and incredibly thorough job, so don't let anyone tell you different!

You have a great talent for teaching! I enjoyed you very much and appreciate the graphs as well. I never tried this before and I now have the confidence to do a blanket. Please do more videos on crocheting. Even though it’s a pattern from someone else, you have a better ability to teach it. For future reference always remember to acknowledge the person that had the original and you’ll be set. I guess that is the norm for RU-vid community. So…Thank you!❤

never crocheted in my life but I had some wool knocking about and a crochet hook I somehow acquired, so I decided to give it a go (quick tutorial for single and double crochets and I'm well on my way), very straight forward and easy to follow despite never holding a crochet hook before!! oh and thank you for making us double check the petals! I ended up with 9 the first time despite double checking the row before and counting out my stitches

So like how are you an incredible singer, songwriter, content creator, crocheter, AND crochet teacher?! I’ve been crocheting for years and I’m so impressed with this. First, for the complexity of the pattern (eg. Crocheting behind, with multiple colours) and second, your ability to teach with clarity. Leave some talent for the rest of us Elyse! Seriously though, I completely love this ❤❤
