I was so so bad with procreate when I first started using it, took me about a solid two weeks to really get the hang of it and start creating decent art but I’m still learning and have no idea what half the stuff do😂 I’m sure there are quicker and easier ways of what I do on there, but videos like this are super helpful thanks!
About flipping the canvas: Right you can see mistakes better because when you're looking from left to right you look over things, versus flipping the canvas you see it from a different perspective and direction. I never thought I'd remember that..
Ordered an iPad Pro and a 2nd Gen Apple Pencil. They arrive tomorrow. I'm an amateur painter, moving into the digital medium. The pencil and iPad seems groundbreaking for this. I found your video to be immensely helpful for what to expect from Procreate. One of the best tutorial videos I've ever seen. Your presentation is outstanding and your voice is even and pleasant. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. Liked and subscribed, my friend.
Lots of people believe you should practice on paper and pencil at first, here’s my opinion: Yes, you should, BUT.. if art is something you genuinely really love to do, and you either want to make it a big hobby, make money off it, or whatever. Or if you just do it a lot, I believe getting an iPad and an Apple Pencil IS the way to go! (Unless you genuinely prefer traditional art, obviously.) and here are my reasons: 1. It may be expensive at first, buying an iPad and an Apple Pencil. But over time, you’ll see it was worth it. It’s portable, you can listen to music on that same device while drawing, and it works offline (for drawing at least!!) and paper and pencils/led cost ALOT if you draw a lot, but the iPad and Apple Pencil work until they’re destroyed lmao. 2. You have more options on an iPad, drawing on paper is good, and you can get some cool affects, but you can do so much more on an iPad! And it’s easier, too! 3. If you’re going somewhere for more than a day, and you’re planning on drawing, having that iPad will be so much more convenient! It takes up less space than a sketchbook and butt load of pencils do! Ok yeah that’s it I’m tired and done now lol. Great video btw! I love how chill you are, and I’m happy you went so in depth with this tour of procreate. Definitely will be revisiting this video when I get my iPad!
@@dominatesym3513 hi! So I do not have the iPad 7th generation anymore as I turned it in for the 8th generation. The iPad 7th generation was great while I had it though (I’ve had it for a few months before turning it in), I also want to say that the iPad 7th generation and 8th generation are basically the same. Both perform the exact same and are very identical. But I would 100% recommend getting the iPad 7th generation, it’s very good!
Eilyn procreate is amazing!!! Just start drawing and learning don’t worry about how it looks or what anyone else would think. That sometimes limits my drawing and creative process.
Julian Lewis I would say so. It’s a big investment though. If the price is right I say go for it. I would recommend the 10.5 inch iPad Pro. Super fun to use for drawing.
I know the comments are legitimately talking a about his beautiful voice (I’m amazed too like daaam) but can we appreciate how amazing his drawings is like you are TALENTED!! 👏 🤩 👏 🤩
Ordered my Ipad two days ago, so I'm trying to get as much info on procreate as I can, while I wait for it to arrive! Your video was really informative and well explained, thank you for making it ;u;
Hey Josh, just wanted to say that I tried your brushes and I really like them... "Pencil Eraser" probably the best "pencil" type brush I've used, and I love that when you use it as an eraser, it resembles an actual eraser. I use that brush for all my sketching. Thanks for that and all your helpful videos!
Best intro to Procreate yet. Thank you SO MUCH. I've watched a ton of others because I plan on getting an ipad pro soon. I will be re watching yours for reference for sure. Thank you again.
Please make one portraits and explain the brush and blendings how to make full portraits in procreate. In RU-vid every one create time lapse but no one explained but your videos is amazing and really help. Please make one portraits full with details thanks
Right that’s it. I’m SUBSCRIBING!! 😆 not only is he gifted with the talent of art 🖼, but he has an AWESOME voice . Something about it makes me feel so relaxed 😌
I have recently purchased procreate, and I found this video 100% helpful. I was a little bit nervous, because I wasn’t sure how everything was used. I was playing around with stuff, watched some tutorials, etc. But, I couldn’t find a good video that helped me figure out how to use everything inside procreate. Then, out of the blue, I see this video in my Recommended. I decided, why not check it out. As soon as I finished the video, I knew how to use so much more in procreate than a I did just before watching the video. Thank you very much for this amazing, well thought video. You have gained a subscriber!
Umm... So, I don’t have Procreate, I don’t have an iPad, and I’m not very good at drawing (im mediocre at best). Why I watch, I don’t know. All I know is that I’m here, and I’m not complaining.
So am I, but I want to start drawing again. The reason why I’m watching these videos is to decide what platform I should buy to begin with digital art.
I have an iPad, but I don’t have Procreate nor any drawing or creative experience. Watching Procreate videos is fun, though, and inspiring. EmilyRulesUnicornz, maybe you’re feeling drawn to the more creative side of yourself. I’m considering buying Procreate just to experiment and get some drawing practice in, maybe get into my creative side. I don’t think you’re a mess. I think you’re just exploring which is a good thing.
I bought the iPad 6th Gen (2018) recently and also got Procreate, being on a budget, and it works so well and so smoothly! I really enjoy drawing on it.
This video was amazing. It really helped me a lot I’m just getting back into drawing and painting. This was extremely helpful and honestly made me fall more in love with my ipad
You are an excellent communicator! Your voice, your diction and the pace of your presentation are perfect.. You should produce a video for school children on how to speak properly. Thank you for this instruction. It is very helpful!
HOLY- You my good sir have such a nice voice. I could definitely listen to this before bed and learn some amazing tips for art. Thank you for being alive 💕😤
As someone moving from concepts to procreate, this was amazingly helpful, I came here to just learn how to do the things I did in concepts, but my mind is blown by the spectrum of options that are not just gimmicky, but really save some serious time, like the multiselection and the program remembering size/opacity for each brush individually... Amazing, thanks man!
Just bought myself the new Ipad Pro 2 weeks ago and finally ventured into digital drawing via Procrate... it is worlds apart! I'm an old school illustrator, working with pencil and paper all my life... digital drawing exposed so many flaws in my technique, had to re-learn drawing hence why I'm here watching this video. Thank you!
THANK YOU!! Totally new to digital art. Just got an iPad and Procreate so I need all the help I can get. Your tutorial was so helpful; clear and concise. Can't wait for you to post more tutorials!
THE ASMR IS REAL HERE! i love the sound of scratching here huhu and thank you for info, i am first time using procreate after purchasing ipad. Thank you for this
I just bought an Ipad Pro 12.9, Apple Pencil and Procreate based on your videos. I'm loving it so far, but I'm not familiar enough with the software as yet, so this will be a great start for me. Thanks so much Josh 😊
I loved this tutorial, I mean I'm still thinking about getting an IPad, I dont actually have one yet, but I'm very convinced Also you've got an amazing voice, pls make audiobooks xD
@@jenniferaboufadle7118 I call him that because, a few streams ago, he mentioned something about feeling old and also because he sounds like a grandpa when he laughs.
Wow I found this video just in time hah My iPad pro should be arriving Friday! Just one more day of finals....and then I can finally start digital art! I have the apple pencil already ..just need the iPad and procreate lol. But I'm so ready for Friday now! Thanks Josh, I learned so much with this video! 😊
Great guide! I’m coming from 5 years of academic art ed but i haven’t drawn in over 8 years. Now i bought an ipad air and try to get used to procreate. Any advice on getting used to the medium and the transition from paper to tablet? Also what is your advice on converting old drawings to digital? Greetings from belgium
I knew someone had to have made this comment, you gained another subscriber!! Great videos that i have seen so far. Great thanks in your other videos that had a link to the "paper" screensaver.
I'm not native speaker of english but I finally understand every word! Your voice and diction is really calming, I am feeling fully relaxed after watching this tut :') The audiobook idea is great too! And I really needed this kind of tutorial. Thank you from Poland! :3
I’m sure this video is super helpful, and I really wanted to get through it but it’s making me sleepy! Your voice is just so soothing and sleep inducing, and the fact that it’s also currently 3:36am is not helping.
