WOW!!! Thanks so much for sharing all these features. I'm usually so tempted to skip around thru a video but you shared major tips I never knew about at every turn! THANK YOU!
I got mine used for Cdn $250 and I think it’s great. I’ve been using it as a practice aid with guitars. I put mine on a Gorilla-pod and mic-ed my amp. In five minutes of noodling I found a great setup position and now I get to review my practice sessions right away. This is such a helpful tool that I can’t believe it took me so long to pull the trigger on this purchase. Looking forward to trying out some dynamic and condenser mics with it to explore some of the other features.
The uses are endless. If you go through the guide for it...there are so many applications that a tonne of people don't realize. This thing is a beast! ps... Next time try a multi mic setup for your guitar...and if possible get a mic with a figure 8 polar pattern...
I just ordered an H5, so while waiting I was reading the manual; the way I read it, the inputs are selected in pairs only in Stereo Mode. In Multitrack Mode, you can select the inputs individually.
Honestly I was going through it again...and there is more to the unit than I will ever use. It's easy to forget how much function it has. Cheers and I hope you enjoy your new toy!
@@DarkCornerStudios Which ones? I also made my studio DIY at home to exploit Corona Pandemic time. You may take a look. I will check your latest videos. Thanks.
@@DarkCornerStudios I must you are blessed with excellent voice and you have an excellent style of speaking or say delivery ... I am trying to see your videos today as I am taking rest after getting vaccinated for Corona who ruined all my business for over a year. So expecting to get some fever but should not happen as I am tough for myself. Will interact more and will suggest few more videos for you. How not to fry your mics on Zoom H5...😀😂 I had fried my Zoom H5
Great tutorial. Thanks for sharing! When we link the H5 to a DSLR, does the audio recording go into the memory card of the DLSR camera? Do you generally prefer to separate the recordings or is syncing up with your camera provide audio that is of equivalent quality?
It records on both the H5 as well as on the camera. I prefer a separate audio file...but it can be separated with Adobe...so there is that. Thanks for watching!!
Is there any way to have all recored files saved into one folder rather than each recording creating their own folder inside the main folder as it makes importing multiple files really tedious.
...and one more question...Can you record in Stereo with the XLR mics? I am sometimes asked by an agent to send them an mp3 file rather than a wav. Since you can't record an mp3 in multi mode, is it safe to recored an mp3 in stereo with an XLR mic? I have a CAD E 100S. Thanks, agian.
As for recording in stereo, I dont think so. But you CAN record in stereo with the top mic on the unit. That said, I would use a clown nose to avoid any plosives. As my old prod teacher used to say...voice records in mono...because you only have one voice. As for recording as mp3 in multi mode, I am pretty sure you can...just double check the manual on that one
Hey, thanks a lot for the massively useful content! Quick (potentially stupid) question: am I right in thinking that I cannot use the XY mics to record into an audio interface (and a DAW)? Thank you!
Zoom H2n much better on batteries than H5 (at the loss of the XLR inputs of course!) - The H5 is very battery heavy I've found. 30 minutes assured & maybe an hour on brand new Duracell alkaline or 2400mah Nimh, but always have some spares in your pocket! If in the field I'm now looking at a USB power pack as field recordings may be longer than 30 minutes. The H5 is lovely; well made & easy to operate, though a more modern user interface is due & the jog control menu selection method is not entirely trouble free (clumsy & temperamental I think), an up & down button & select button would be easier when wearing gloves if recording in winter or bad weather. But overall the H5 always needed a 4x AA cell internal power source from the start. Happy recording everyone! ...
Yep! Right in the top by cartridge you will find a 3.5 mm jack. Will not work with certain trs jacks though. Once I get home I will confirm the proper trs to use
Sir, if this is used only as audio interface during conference calls, should the record button be pressed down, even though nothing is getting recorded (not intended to)? Thank you
Hi, Thank you for this. On my H5, both the 1 and 2 lights come on together, even when pressing only one button. I've seen on some other tutorials that you can put one or the other on individually, or both if you need to, but on mine they do not go on separately. Would you know why? Thank you.
Are you sure you mean the 1 and 2...or do you mean the L and R? If the 1 and 2 are both coming on at the same time that is weird, but if you dont have a mic in one of those slots, its no big deal... But the L and R buttons are both going to come on at the same time as they represent the left and right mics on the top of the unit that record in stereo...
if u dont use extended mic, then u cant turn them off, (meaning if you are using the default mics) thats what i remember, but mine is nw gone, cant find it when i need it .)
How do I jump to where I want to record a guitar solo without having to listen to the whole song every time I make a mistake on the solo ? Can I not just record from a certain point
If you find out how let us know! I wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't though. They may expect you to re-record it separately, on a new file, and then layer/slice it back in using software.
remove the sd card...put it in a computer and delete the ones you want. There is a way to delete them on the unit it self, but it has been awhile since I have done that. I generally clear my files when it is hooked to my computer though
