For anyone who is using 2.9 and is having problems with the ColorRamp and having a hard stuck one color: To find the Multiply node, shift+A search Math. Change it to multiply. Set value to 67 just to follow exactly as shown in the video. Go to the mapping node and change the VECTOR part, not location, to 1 and 1 (x and z axis). :)
Great video, love the effect. For anyone having issues with the gradient effect via the Color Ramp node, replace the Geometry node with a Texture Coordinate node, and connect the Generated property to the Vector property of the Mapping node. I used Blender 2.8.
@@flyinggoatman Using the texture Coordinate, connect the Object to the Vector and then at the bottom where it says object use the eyedropper to select the cube. That worked for me. Your cube has to be at the same level as your fire for the colour to show.
Hi. **Potential solution to solid white color** I'm using the latest version of blender as of this date, which I think is 2.9 or something. I had two problems following this tutorial which both resulted in a solid white color. Both problems have the same result and both need to be solved to prevent this. 1. The vector -> location section of the mapping tab. I'm a noob so I don't know why, but it didn't start to work until I tried NEGATIVE values in the x, y, and z categories. I settled on x: -2.3, y: 0, and z: 0. All this tells me is you all should try different values, negative and positive for each and see if you see a change. 2. There's a slight mistake in the video. At 5:12 he says "take the value of our math node and put it into the strength of our emission shader." This is correct. However, on the screen he incorrectly connects the value of the math node to the COLOR of the emission shader. When I first did this tutorial, I followed it on mute and got thrown off, here. Let me know if this helped and/or if you guys found other issues. I heavily rely on these tutorials to get the cool stuff I want and when they don't work I'm useless haha. I rely on all of you for troubleshooting so here's my first contribution. I'm half way through so I'll reply to my own comment if I find anything else.
@@Polyfable hey thanks for replying I’m glad I could help out. Like I said I’m so grateful for these tutorials and channels like yours. Check out: instagram.com/s9acecat?igshid=1ho031ca9x94o This is where I’ve been posting my work along with my brother’s music. It’s my first month in blender and I’m learning so much I love it.
OMG! This is literally the first bloody tutorial that I found and is good to follow without rewinding every 10 seconds because they didn't explain something or they are going to fast! *THANK YOU!!!*
A great tutorial. Very clear. Very concise. I am planning to use some low poly 3D for my new venture. So. This will really help. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Dg
I enjoyed this clear and quite concise video. Incredible job on the tutorial, keep it up, I'll come back if i need more help with a project. Keep it up!
If you are using cycles and the cube and fire are still casting a shadow: Select the cube> go to object properties> visibility> Ray visibility> Uncheck shadow. That's it.
I figured out that you have to slide the one that's currently on the left all the way to the right, and the one on the right all the way to the left, and then click the one you moved to the right and set it to 0.686 Also make sure it's in B-Spline
Really loved this tutorial, my compliments. If I would add just one thing is a way to make the fire keeping the loop in the animation where it never ends and has to restart. Is it possible?
This is beautiful, thank you so much. I do have 1 question though: Despite following exactly your steps down to the hex value, my fire doesn't look as saturated as yours. the origin is white and it ends in a bright desaturated orange, unlike yours which has a brilliant yellow-orange origin and fades into a nice orange. Is this something that has changed between blender versions or did you leave something out of the tutorial?
@@shiara7488 Sure thing, It may take a little time as I am currently setting up a new service for people learning blender. blenderutotorials.org but once that is set up I will be able to focus on the channel again.
The particale node is working again, how would you connect up the node system instead of the heavy way around? Perhaps sharing a screenshot of how you would set this up :)
@@Polyfable , I was just about to ask if the particle node works now. I'll try it out when I can back to my computer. But what's the general approach using the particle node? I guess I'll Google it after watching this video.
Great tutorial! I'm stuck on creating the cycles modifier at 9:34 though. I cannot find it anywhere. I'm currently using ver 3.2.1, incase that feature moved.
If I wanted to export this into unreal, how would I go about doing that? When I render it as an obj or fbx, the flame doesn't show up in ue4. Still new to blender so any help would be great.
As-salāmu‘alaikum, I thank you for the knowledge. May I imitate and modify this method for commercial purposes?? without including your name / youtube name??
Great tutorial and it does work for me But I want to use the flame in my title screen in Godot, but when exporting it doesn't see my animation do you maybe know how I can fix that
At around 4:56 I wasn't able to get the white and grey grading... I'm using Blender 2.8 and I only get the grey. I tried moving the cube or other things like that but it doesn't work. Pls help me
I had the same issue. Inside the vector mapping node set the value of the X location to "0" then you will have a similar effect. You can take a look at the final nodes at 5:18 and you will see the X location value to be 0. I set mine to be .35m in the X location and you will have pretty much the same thing but its a matter of preference. Play around with the locations to see which one you like better. I hope this helped you.
sry, i ran into a problem. for some reason the camp fire wont emit much light into its surroundings, but i really want it to omit more light. any fixes?
So if I want to render it as an image the fire isnt going up its small, I know its because it's rendering frame 1 and thats where its just starting how can I change this?
If it is a particle emitter then in the particle settings you need to turn on hide emitter (or something along those lines) I forget the exact wording of the top of my head. It won't delete it, but will ensure that it won't render.
hey i got a problam for some reason it dosent really work for me the Grading of the colors from orange to yellow orange i followed ur tutorial and idk what to do perhaps u could help me? i am using blender 2.8
Mine doesn't emit any light at all even when I turn on bloom, any solution? 9:35 Also how do you add the modifier mine does not pop up so I'm stuck for now
@@Polyfable Ohhhh I didn't think I was gonna get a reply, um imma scratch the second question because I manage to figure it out somehow, now I can't make it to bloom it only emits a tiny light
@@hesimaku6785 send me the file via my business email. If it is something quick I will create a video on it if that is okay with you. My thinking is it could be maybe the light intensity is too low . But it could be a number of other things too.
@@Polyfable what is your email sensei? btw I'm using the latest version of blender and also it might take time because I have no idea how to send stuff through email but I'll figure it out, another thing I changed the color to blue because it looks cooler so maybe the problem
Oops sorry, I thought this comment was for a different video. Because it is using particles getting an animation in to unity would be quite hard. I would recommend recreating in unity.
Thank you for the video! I got a serious problem with the particle material though when I am changing End Frame, FPS and Time Remapping to achieve higher frame rate in the render. Do you know the solution? Here is more about my problem: blender.stackexchange.com/questions/140281/lifetime-color-change-material-time-remapping-problem-cycles-animation
