Excellent video, great information. Impressed how you nail these techniques without having the ingredients commonly used in the US for these techniques.
Hi Julie where have you been all my life lol I just found your channel... I have been doing the blooms forever and I wanted to get away from that and start doing pearl pores and cloud pores and I am so happy to have found this other alternative.. you said you're very last one it wasn't very effective I think it was stellar looking because the composition of your pour was still there and the pearls came out just enough to give it a nice effect That's just my opinion though lol looking forward to seeing more of your videos Thank you so much sunshine 🥰💜
I did enjoy the video. I am enthused to try to incorporate some "pearls" in my landscapes. Have had limited success in the past - but you have given my more info on how I MIGHT succeed. So thank you!
Thanks Jane! There are lots of ideas whirling around in my head too!! I had to stop and take a step back and not rush into doing hundreds of pear pours!!!
Fascinating, all of them ‼️Well, the first one was full of cells 😊 For us beginners, thank you for all your inspiring, creative pours, full of cells 🤗 Loved how colours came through. 💙🤍💜✨🌟
Thank you Julie..... very good info, well described and illustrated perfectly. I'm experimenting with pearls, and this video contains lots of food for thought, and experiments. Perfect :-)
Thanks Julie, you’ve inspired me to have a go again, been busy with resin lately so have let the painting slide. Love the middle canvases, the effects are so beautiful 😍 😁
Hi Julie, I have watched several videos from various fluid artists on pearl painting and yours by far made the most sense to me !! 🙏🙏🙏🙏 Your step-by-step instructions and use of different techniques, paints, etc., has provided me with far more confidence to try it myself than ever before. I also agree with you that it is very important to make whatever technique anyone does “your own.” Thank you again for providing the reference work on painting pearls. When I try it I will let you know how it goes…
Hello Rebecca, I am so glad you found this video helpful! Pearls are tricky little beasts sometimes… but like everything in fluid art… practice! Looking forward to seeing how you do 😊
Julie this was amazing and soo helpful! I’ve been working on perfecting my pearls and I’m blown away at the results you got with the dump and swirl. I haven’t tried that technique yet but can’t wait to give it a go. Thank you so much again! Much love from North Carolina!💐💝💐
Yes! Making it your own, perfect! I actually prefer your pieces over the entire canvas being saturated with the pearls. I do hope to see those as finished pieces, I admire your art and teaching abilities so much! Thank you
Thank you. The expiration of this techniques - beautiful. I do always love your reminders about consistency's. The fact that you emphasized the experiment of thinning down a little bit more each time for the middle three was super helpful because I believe it is the best way to see how it changes things. Experiment experiment - and be amazed at how it changes each time. I appreciate all of your efforts to show us this and always your encouragement to find our own creative voice. Much luv from Canada!!!
There are so, so many variables with every technique… although I don’t normally do this kind of pour, I did find it very addictive. With these Pearl pours, I tried to give something more precise for people in the uk, without using floetrol! Thank you for taking the time to watch!
This is fantastic 👏 👌 thank you so much for posting this. I have been trying to get results from my pearl pours here in the UK. So this has been so helpful. I loved the decoart results ❤. Thank you again 🙏
@@JulieVatcherArtist It really did. Especially when most artists have been using Artist loft soft bodied paint which is very expensive here in the UK. So all this advice has been wonderful. I am now looking through your wonderful videos 😊
I like your down-to-earth approach. Live in Germany and except for the UK house paint...get everything els here. So don't have to "import" expensive goodies. Thanks again
I spent the day doing exactly what you just did with almost the exact colors! Too funny! I also love making them my own after they dry. It’s like they need just a finishing touch. I have even used my alcohol markers as well as paint and glaze. So much fun 🤩 Lovely video.
Fabulous video and thank you for sharing a variety of methods!!! I look forward to seeing the final results of your stems with negative space... they’re beautiful :)
Hi Julie, I love seeing your landscapes, but didn’t realise you had a Chanel. I’ve been trying to find a tutorial for pearl techniques and now I am going to practice. I use Johnson’s silk white for bases and I bought some enamel a while back, so will now open it 😂 and keep my fingers crossed 🤞… Thank you so much for such a good tutorial. ❤😊
Perhaps, but I wanted to show that there is no one set technique used for pearls. I was exploring what products are readily available for those here in the uk and for various budgets. 💜
Super cool …I Have to try this!! I have been curious about it…just intimidated by it I have a question beyond the painting… What was the Amazing piano music you had playing in background?… I Loved it I always like just music playing better than songs… they seem to distract me ( I know I’m goofy… lol) Ty for sharing this You made it seem doable and the colors you chose are Awesome together. Do you prefer one of the ways other than the others? Thanks again 🥰
Hello Tina. I couldn’t tell you what music I used in this as I don’t have the original video, I don’t tend to keep them once they are uploaded because of file sizes. I get my music through audio hero, so I pay to use it each month. I think I prefer the dump and swirl technique… I’ve done a few of these and incorporated the technique into landscapes.
I am really not sure! Deco art or folk art acrylic paints (metallic or normal colours) are generally lighter density paints as they are classed as craft paints. If you use heavy density paint over the top like Amsterdam white or black you will get effects as long as your consistency is correct… if it doesn’t work first time try and thin your paints a little.
@@JulieVatcherArtist Thanks for the information, here in Greece we don't have deco art or folk art acrylics so I will experiment with amsterdam colors in the consistensy you showed us
I’m in the US, so is PVA glue the same as our Elmer’s Glue All, not the children’s glue. Also, if we have American Floetrol, can we use that instead of your pouring medium or will the results change? Thanks for your informative videos for us beginners! ❤️
Do you have Aquahere in America, you can get it from the hardware store. PVA is the same, a white glue. Ask the guys at the hardware store, it should have the ingredients on the label PVA stands for poly vinyl acetate. I think your floetrol is different. Good luck.
Hi Kathryn. If you use different pouring mediums the results will change. Being based in the uk I haven’t used Elmers Glue All… I know it is widely used in the US and Australia. The American floetrol will give you results… just perhaps a little different. The best thing to do is experiment, pearls mainly come from the correct consistency, which is actually quite thin. Hope this helps a little!!
Will Aussie Floetrol be able to be substituted for the PVA. I have no idea how to get PVA in the USA, but I do have 🤗Aussie Flow! Love you lessons!and Pearls!
Yes, I did think of that as I do that with my house paint base. If I was doing this regularly I would probably keep on tweaking until I got reaction that I could control! Thanks for the tip!
Thank you so much for your inspirational videos! They are just stunning! I'm using PVA too as a PM, but in ratio 50:50 instead of 70:30 and adding water after. Isn't it the same? 💗🥰
Everyone is different Diana. I just found this easy for me. I know that lots of people do 50:50… occasionally I do go 50:50… I really don’t think there is anything in it
I'm really surprised at those results. especially the house paint version. when doing the second one did you need to use black? tia ..... Great art 🎨 😄
I’m trying to remember which was the second version… the dump and swirl? I think you do. The craft paints are light in density so the black Amsterdam sinks to give the effects… would work with white too.
Hello Carol, I use no nonsense PVA… generally I buy it from Screwfix as it’s closer to me. It has a blue and yellow label. I have quite a few beginners videos on my channel, you should find helpful. Happy to answer any questions you have.
Just a quick query as I am a little confused....in the 1st pour you say 1 part satin enamel (30g) then 1 part paint (30g) but say 1 part pouring medium but say 60g is it 1 part pouring medium or 2...your work is amazing btw
Hello Sylvie, here in the uk we use PVA glue as a pouring medium as floetrol and Liquitex is so expensive. I mix 700ml of glue with 300ml of water, then mix well. I then use this as my pouring medium. It’s mixed with 1 part Acrylic paint to 2 parts. You may find my beginners video helpful, it will explain everything. I hope this has helped a little.
I'm trying to figure out these pearl pours and your video is very informative. I'm just a little confused about the satin enamel section. You said 1 part white, 1 part satin enamel, and 1 part pouring medium- 1:1:1 ratio. My confusion is when you were measuring them on the scale you added 30g white, 30g satin enamel, and 60g pouring medium. Isn't that a 1:1:2 ratio?
@@JulieVatcherArtist Thank you for replying and plz let me know your findings and which ratio is the correct one because your paintings are beautiful and I'd like to try your ratios..
Yes, but I really don’t like using owatrol either… I have learnt to use good old PVA and adapt my art to suit. 😊 (plus I refuse to pay the price of Owatrol)
Hi! Thanks a lot for such helpful instructions! What is your experience with PVA glue? Any would do? Did you notice differences between brands and can recommend one specific? Eg Elmer’s? It’s so nice to see recipes without AU floetrol that is unavailable in Europe…
So glad you found this video helpful. I have never had any issues with ‘no nonsense PVA’ from Screwfix or B&Q. I recently tried a cheaper one from ‘Dryad Education’, this one was runnier and can only be used 1>1 (not 2>1 as this video says), as you will loose your shapes whilst drying. I have no experience with Elmers.
Hi Jackie… I can’t remember!!! I will watch the video back and let you know, but I don’t usually use satin enamels in pearl pours. (I don’t now anyway!!)
Thanks great video, could u tell me please exactly what PVA u use. I've mixed pva with paint and it reacts like slime, it won't let u break it down even with water. Thank you.
Yes, I know Sarah, I designed her logo and opening sequences to her RU-vid videos (not a lot of people know all that) 😊 but we use very different products to each other!!
I'm just getting started, a true beginner. What is PVA? Never heard of it. I have often said, if you don't really care about being understood, then go ahead and use acronyms. If, on the other hand, you actually desire to be understood, then maybe use the actual words.
PVA is glue, that’s it’s name here in the uk, that’s what’s on the label. Polyvinyl acetate to be exact… which quite honestly is a bit of a mouth full 😊 if I called it by it’s true name I would have more complaints about people not knowing what I am referring to!
