This "Historical Aerials" tip rocks! As a former land surveyor, trail runner, hiker in the Pikes Peak region, it's time to search with all the spots I've come across over the decades. Bought my first metal detector this week & looking forward to the hunt. This tip should amplify my hunches. Thank you!
Great video 5280. Very informative. It's videos like these that really help beginners such as myself. Greatly appreciated buddy hope all is well. Good luck out there.
The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was a public work relief program that operated from 1933 to 1942 in the United States for unemployed, unmarried men.
Thank you for the very helpful info. I live in Austin and metal detecting is banned pretty much everywhere here so learning how to research and find property owners for permission is the only option. Thank god we are moving back to Colorado in a couple of weeks! The ground is the other hurdle here and it’s impossible to dig unless heavy rains give us a pre soak.
Great info I have a few permisions I am working on. I know 2 are gonna have a ton of trash I am going to clear first just gotta order my detector so I can get started. Hope to hunt with you, DK, and NCRC one day.
5280 Adventures just learning you tube so not sure how it all works just yet. Didn't know you had replied and I think you are my first subscriber. Thanks as soon as I have a detector I'll contact you.
Never heard from the land owner. I need to follow up again with theM. Thanks for watching this. Stayed tuned to future vids. Maybe I will have one with this site!
This video was such a huge help for me, thank you so much! My name is Charles & I recently became a beginner at detecting medal & I have been searching on how to properly research areas to find good hunting spots. This video gave me such wonderful branches to work from & I appreciate it so much! Happy hunting!
I am so very glad to hear about this. I made this video in hopes of helping detectorists with their research so we can all enjoy this hobby. I love hearing that I have been a help to you. If you wish, send me some pics of your finds to my email address listed in my about section of this channel. I love seeing and hearing about your success stories. Thank you!
Great information. did you happen to notice that on the last map withing the green box, the land was shaped like an Indian. LOL Thanks for sharing.see you next time.
Great info. I will definitely do researching today, our weather has finally turned for the good..(Michigan) You take care and have a great day..Good Luck
Thank you for the info. Not real good with the computer but I will be going over and over and over until I get it straight in my head. Thanks again for the video
Thanks for sharing.Great video. I usually use google earth to locate old cabins.Historical Aerials maps is great, glad I watched your video! I used it on a site I just found recently and has helped a lot. GL&HH Eric
Thanks for posting this, very helpful info, going to give it a try for my area. Good luck with trying to gain access, looks like a great place to hunt. Keep us posted! Take care, GL and HH!
That is a legitimate concern. There are some liability waivers in some metal detecting forums that I have seen. It sounds lame but you can always present that to them in return for the permission. Even it returns one good location, it is worth it. Good luck!
Great Job Tony same tools I use to find long forgotten home sites in my area. I also use Maprika and acme mapper as added Material to help.. But you know the topo maps dont go that far back on most cases on the Program which back in the day you could go to the local Deeds office for that county and they have topos going back long before the 1900's. That is how we use to research before the computer age. lol.. Just throwing that at ya. Other things is the Library on the old fishe Micro films of the times on News print helps out as well for ideas of picnic groves and gatherings of people.. You know old Social Media.. Hehehe Lol. the town might of put that up on the internet by now and a great resource to help with finding off the beaten trail Locations..... Anyways any Research will help... Thanks Great Video now I dont have to make a video on it.. Happy Hunting AL
There are so many ways to research for these towns we live in. Most people have no idea of the history or stories of where we all live. Take the time and learn and if you can hunt it, go for it. If you cant get permission, you have some great stories. Thanks for the comment Al. Take care.
Amen to that. People are amazed at how much I know about this entire state. I have studied old maps for Colorado for a long time and if I only had the time and the permissions to hunt it all! Thanks for watching.
