Chicken tractors or mobile hoop coops can be a challenge in some terrains. You can make our hoop coop stationary, but the predator apron does help because it can protect where the ground isn’t 100% level. Be sure to check that video out!

I love your overall design! I have built something similar and plan to install a HenGear nesting box at the end. However, I'd like to implement you wheel and lever system (only). Would you be willing to provide just the details on the Lever and Wheel system, but possibly at a lower price? And I'd be glad to show you pics of what I've built, prior to seeing your video. Your wheel idea intrigues me.

Our wheel system is included in our plan set for the entire coop + nesting box. We don't currently have any plans to sell the wheel design separately. We tried to keep costs as low as possible for the entire plan set! That is awesome to hear you built something similar! We love this style of coop!

Messing with that long of a piece of hardware cloth is like trying to stand up a wet noodle. I haven't looked at the Plans. but do you let everybody know that you're pre drilling holes?

We rolls ours up and then unroll once on top of the coop. It does help to have a helper though! I’m not sure what holes you are referring to?

We have a separate predator apron build video! Be sure to check it out! We also have carabiner clips on the gate latches and double bolts on the nesting box for extra protection.

Can you tell me about how much the wood for the 12' coop would cost & the price for the sheet metal for the nest box? Also is the list of items on your site for a 12' coop? It looks like the best I've seen & I love the idea of instructions cause I am a visual person. Thanks for the help.

We built our coop for just under $450, including the nest box and wheels. The cost of wood varies considerably based on your area, we are located in Georgia. The set of wheels cost $50 for materials. The only difference in the coop sizes is the length of the sides and roosting bars. Everything else is the same for the 2 and 3 panel coops, including the tarp. We couldn’t find a tarp size perfect for the 2 panel so we used the same size tarp and just fold in, which is shown in the video also. I too am a visual learner!

So that's just about $50 more than the things at Amazon.(All of that cost close to $400) (Was $450 for the 12'?) Thanks for the info

@@lindaboone7579 the $450 was for the 2 cattle panel size. The only difference for the three cattle panel is slightly more lumbar and one more cattle panel so it should be less than $50 more to build the 3 cattle panel size. That does depend on the cost of lumbar in your area also.

Heat is actually a much bigger stress than cold. Ventilation is important, even in winter, for respiratory health and to prevent humidity in the coop which increases the risk of frostbite on their combs, wattles, and toes. The biggest factor is to block the wind, while still providing ventilation. You can use a clear tarp or polycarbonate sheets to cover one or both end wall areas to block the wind. If needed you could also hang a radiant heater or heat lamp easily from the cattle panels. You would also want to consider making your roost bars with the wider surface upwards so they have the ability to tuck all of their toes under their body instead of toes curling around the roost.
