That's a tough one, but not impossible. One option would be to do traveling kick steps and just make sure your arms travel with you so your follower does also. The other, more difficult, option is to treat it like a 6 count charleston basic where you go: rock step, kick step (travel forward), kick step (travel back with a slight drop). The slight drop is to communicate better that you're shortening your charleston basic since it's quite out of the ordinary.

I need you to be much more precise about what you need. We go over the tandem footwork (left side charleston). We talk about how we enter tandem through the S-turn, including the leader's and follower's footwork, and then demonstrate this. This happens starting around the 1:28 mark.
