The story is deeply inspiring. The Yiddish is a music I never hear anymore. But the whole circumcision, on adults, without anaesthesia thing is downright shocking. How?
I knew nothing of this! Although I was a kid at the time- I had no concept of what was going on, little to no connection. We had our life in the US and the USSR was another planet in another galaxy. In the very early 70's a kid and his family got out of Russia and I recall how traumatized he seemed, how scared to live and just be.
I am an Arab ( non Jewish, non Israeli Arab) and testify that Arabic countries suffered after Jews left them ( I do not know exactly why is that but it happened) The Middle East was a much better place when we had Jews. I am sure the same happened in Russia.
