We are thrilled to be back with Sound Mixer Stéphane Bucher to discuss in detail three scenes he recorded on Feature Films "House of Gucci" & "Lucy".
Stéphane shows Simon Bysshe from URSA how he tackled a complex 3 way phone conversation on 'House of Gucci' & a very special hidden microphone position for a Car Rig on 'Lucy.'
We discuss the hidden complexities which are unique to Big Budget Feature Films, making Prop Telephones practical & hiding microphones in plain sight.
Stéphane Bucher has worked with some of Hollywood's most successful directors including Luc Besson, Ridley Scott, Damien Chazelle & James Mangold. His Feature Film Credits include : "The Last Duel" , "House of Gucci" , "Lucy" , "Taken 2 & 3" , "Anna" & "Valerian & the City of a Thousand Planets".
The Sound Team photo on "House of Gucci" features Left to Right :
Key 1AS Jérôme Rabu
Sound Mixer Stéphane Bucher
1AS Luigi Pini
Utility : Giuliano Marcaccini
Dailies : Daniele Raggi
Driver : Marcello Seregni

These are awesome, real life stories. Gear is cool and all, but it’s nice to hear about the hustle, talent, and ingenuity.

Very Cool, I love the sun visor technique. the Gucci phone call sounds stressful. it's awesome finding out how mixers figure out problems with great solutions, that I can learn and use in my career maybe down the line.

Great video as usual URSA. I have to ask because I've still yet to solve this completely even with foamies double sided tape and the rest of the tricks I've seen from your videos, how do you get 100% rustle-free sound with your lavs?? I've only been able to reduce the amount of noise, but rarely is it totally clean when the talent moves a lot sadly. I only noticed any unwanted noise @ 34:01 because Stephane touched his mic, but otherwise it's perfect! What am I missing?

Why not use a old telephone system? Doesn't that work with the old phones? The you'd just have to plug in the 'natural' way
@URSAStraps
@URSAStraps 2 года назад
Hi Christoph, this is unlikley to work im afraid as the phones are all period prop hires. They are unlikely to work and most have been modified for visuals which may have changed the original cable or the internal microphone/speaker. We end up having to adapt & adjust
