I could sit here and watch them go through wood sets all day! Beeswing mahogany is my all-time favorite, looking at those makes me want another beeswing Bourgeois

Die Touchstone Serie ist aber genau genommen einen China Gitarre, nur die Hölzer wurde von Bourgeois ausgesucht und zur Firma Eastman geschickt.

@@jonas6588There's more to it than that. Dana himself custom voices and braces each top before sending them to China. He's not just sending them a bunch of wood.

Eddie's guitars calls it the Bourgeois "factory". Bourgeois calls it "the workshop".

I have a wonderful guitar coming from his workshop made before the sale to Eastman. The Eastman deal made me skeptical but after the announcement of the Touchstone project I in some way “broke up” with the brand. The concept is to me simply not right. I also believe to see that Dana is not too comfortable when he answers questions in regard to Touchstone.

Dana shouldn’t wear open-toed shoes in a factory. Otherwise, beautiful guitars. Love Bourgeois.

I bought a bourgeois guitar last September from a shop in Littleton NH for 7k. It had a body hump, a totally loose truss rod and the nut was not glued also un pleked. An expensive second. I was told that they had had problems with the setup man and his quality of work. Apparently I was meant to pay for their mistakes..The shop offered to fix it and to send it to Pat Deburro, perhaps the best luthier in New England. A lie, as Deburro had retired a year previously. I did not want a repaired second. Repairs take forever. I wanted money back or a replacement..NO. Bourgeois himself wouldn’t respond. Bourgeois initially made great guitars, hide glue et al. But greed stepped in and he sold out to Eastman, a Chinese company. I eventually drove to the factory , picked up the guitar, un repaired, and sold it at a loss. In short , there are so many great And responsible builders, especially in that price range. I’ve had friendly conversations with the heads of Santa Cruz, Collings, martin, Benedetto, but not so with with Bourgeois from whom i bought only because of the proximity to the factory..sloppy, irresponsible work and no Response from Bourgeois. And you dont buy from someone from New York named Solomon’s.

I wouldn't have bought it if the shop gave me the info about it having issues... Sorry about your s**t situation my friend I got suckered into buying a bass years ago i think back in 2003 and it was a huge mistake. Thankfully i was able to sell it and get most of the money i spent on it back.

I'd like to request that we as an industry stop using the word "master" so carelessly. Stradivari and Amati were masters, so lets reserve that term for people on that level and let regular luthiers be regular luthiers without projecting all this other stuff onto them without merit. This video is all good stuff, you throw in the term "master" and now the perspective completely changes to one that's highly critical and now instead of being judged on the merit of their work, I find myself starting from a place of resentment, based on the assertion that this person is comparable to Stradivari... thats what it means when you say "master"... so does using that term really do what you intend? Me thinks not... I'd drop it. Dana is a kickass luthier doing an awesome job, his name carries enough weight, let it stand on its own.

James is a master... I've worked beside him and he's an incredible luthier. DANA badged him as a master, that says it all to me. At Bourgeois the term master is reserved for anyone whom can complete all 176 jobs to build a guitar to Bourgeois quality and faster then the standard time study. There's only two masters at Bourgeois, Dana and James. But to your point no 2 companies have the same idea as a master but. , I think we can all agree Dana is THE master guitar maker.

I’d say being one of the finest acoustic guitar builders in the world would make you a master. Or anyone with an appropriate amount of years experience is a master. That’s just how it goes.
