From what I have been told by custom guitar builders here in CA, nitro can't be sprayed due to the strict environmental laws, so that is all done about 150 miles south in Mexico. CA is trying to save the planet, & apparently not spraying nitro & other types of paint is part of the solution. Spraying it 2 hours away makes all the difference....idiots. Eh I got the vibe of annoyance, more than anything else. I work in production/manufacturing lifesupport equipment for the energy sector. I don't hate my boss but I am annoyed when they drag investors, family, business partners, anybody and everybody through your workshop. You have a deadline and a quota to meet. Having people brought through your shop slows you down because you have to make your workstation and area presentable... but its a shop. You even heard the master builder apologize for his work area being messy. You essentially have to stop what youre working on and clean just to go back to making a mess again to get your work done. Also bosses typically have no idea what they are talking about or over embelishes your job to make it sound more intensive than it is, to impress whoever they are touring around the facility.

As an Aussie, Fender is more than an American icon, it is a world icon that we all owe gratitude to for the great guitars that have played the great songs since the 1950’s. When it ain’t broken don’t fix it. Amazing that Leo Fender nailed it at the beginning. Great video O Captain! My Captain!
@tjsr
@tjsr Год назад
As an Aussie... 'meh'. Do Fender make great products - yes, absolutely. But it really does get annoying at times listening to Americans insisting that the MIA models are for whatever reason going to be better quality than something made in any other country because... why? Because as a company they don't insist on the same or a higher level of standard of the employees they take on in other factories? There's no rational reason why the other countries and factories can't produce exactly the same (or better) quality and QCd products as the ones that have a MIA stamp on them so just why? If I pick up an MIJ, MIM, hell, even an MII model that I think works for me, I really don't care about that detail, whereas Americans often become obsessive about it - without reasonable, rational explanation as to why one finished product is better in workmanship, where if you shipped the same components to be put together elsewhere, that could just as well be done.
@wce74wce15

@vhfgamer
@vhfgamer 25 дней назад
@@tjsr It's just patriotic pride. Don't look too much into it. Of course we say made in America is the best, because we are Americans. And Fender is an American company. We will always prefer made in America because we want our nation to thrive. Personally I don't mind products being made other places, as long as those places are our friends. Like Japan for example.
@russell6167
@russell6167 9 дней назад
@@vhfgamer You have to claim that the MIA quality is higher in order to justify the price. Of course, the price is higher primarily due to the higher labor cost of domestic manufacturing, but most people don't think about that. If you really wanted your nation to thrive then the only justification you'd need is that domestic manufacturing keeps Americans employed.

Thank you Andertons for the best content ever! You guys keep us so well informed and up to speed! It is one thing to have cameras and access to these amazing instrument builders but you have to capture it with love and passion. That's exactly what the Captain and his squad are doing. Giving a soul and personality to the vids being released for our pleasure. I'm in Canada and I've seen many retailers trying to find a niche on social media and they just don't get it! They forget that we are humans and that the product has to be seen, touched, played and critiqued by someone we trust in order to have empathy for what is being shown to us. This person we trust becomes the prism we adhere and come back to and kudos to the Captain and his team for being successful at doing so. God love you guys! I will not name everyone as I would be so afraid to forget someone but you are ALL so important to us. The humour, the fun, the honesty (yes honesty) dials up our attention. I know, I know, you are selling us stuff. We all know that! But I've heard all of you sharing positive AND negative comments in regards to new or old gear. I swear you guys! If there is a University level marketing course for social media somewhere on this crazy planet, you should hold the chair for it. Brilliant work guys and keep it coming. @MI 6 You are entitled to your own opinion, but made in Mexico Fenders are among the best bang for your buck in the guitar world. For half a grand, you get a budget guitar that goes toe to toe with American counterparts that cost double or triple. 99.9% of the planet population would not be able to tell the difference in a blind test. And 9 out of 10 of Fender owners would probably not single out an American made instrument in a blind test of several instruments. Modern MIM Fenders are, in short, incredible instruments for their price range, and you get more for your 500 dollars than in most other brands. I have a new American Professional Strat, and a MIM Telecaster which I love, and while I DID want an American made Strat just because I fancied it, the diminishing returns are more than noticeable. The differences in quality and components, perhaps, are NOT worth the price difference. Current Player series are arguably same or better than American made Performer series instruments, and some buyers get those because of the pups, or the smaller headstock. MIM Fenders are solid options, not just intro or budget ones.

At 56:00 Lee says "Is this what you refer to as point to point wiring" and the guy nods. Wrong! These chassis are being hand wired on eyelet boards. Some makers use turret boards, (like the HW Marshalls and Vox's) and some are actually point-to-point, the components are suspended and secured by gobs of silicone, like Carr does. But it should be noted that the handwired Fender re-issues use a lot of push-on connectors; they are not all soldered. So despite the nosebleed prices they are still not up to the original standards which I see this year (the 1946-82's) have climbed a lot in price.

Well this surprised me quite a bit. When you see other companies (i.e. PRS or Keisel) factory tours, its easy to get the sense that they have the whole hand made instruments by "skilled craftsmen" thing locked down. I had the sense that Fender became increasingly automated over the years...ever since the 50's. But the surprising truth is that a mega huge company like Fender is their equal in every way that matters. Yes, its primarily production line processes which necessitates every person involved being proficient and consistent, but I dont see that as bad thing. Neither did Henry Ford. ..and with Fenders numbers, its the only way they can meet demand. If you wanted to spend "PRS money" on a guitar, a Fender Master Builder would easily exceed expectations and produce a spectacular boutique instrument equaling anything else in the world. Bottom line is that whatever your needs and budget, Fender has you well covered. Great video. Thanks for inspiring my complete re-think of the Fender brand.

@@tdunster2011 sure, some are crazy expensive, and yes equivalent fender models are more expensive when looking at their standard mass produced guitars. I think his point is that you could spend 5k at Fender and get something just as great as if you spent 5k at PRS.
