Zoo Insider takes you behind the scenes at Paignton Zoo. In this episode we're moving lions.
Originally African lions, Boss, Semira and Amahli, were supposed to move to Paignton Zoo shortly after the Asiatic Lions, Arya and Yali, left for other zoos. Unfortunately, a series of unfortunate events meant that these Lions moved over a year later than planned. Operationally, moving the lions from Newquay Zoo to Paignton Zoo went very smoothly so what went wrong?
Well, as the video explains, moving animals from one zoo to another is a bit like a chain, if that chain gets caught up the whole process gets delayed. Eventually though, the African lions made it up the A30 and are now at home at Paignton Zoo. You even get to hear how they're settling in from one of their keepers, Cindy.
