Rowling herself admitted that she kept hearing Evanna’s voice every time she wrote anything Luna-related after she was cast. Out of all the cast, she’s the one who just absolutely nailed it. And that’s really saying something ‘cos all of her costars were damn near perfect.
yeah, I have to agree, so many other characters are tied so closely to their actors in my mind now, but Luna is the one character I really can't envision being played by anyone else
@@kaylinalaska6117 ok, fair point. But, we must remove the idea that Transphobe is the ideal woman. When I was reading them, I thought she was a literal goddess. We’ve got to remove that thought, because if your role model is doing something, it is un likely you are going to realize that it *is* the wrong thing. But, yes, her books are very well written. BUT I must say Rick over here has made a much bigger impact.

But we can still acknowledge the work she's done. This is going to sound like a harsh analogy, but it's a little like our founding fathers. I'm still going to remember Thomas Jefferson for writing the Declaration of Independence, I'm still going to credit him for it and thank him for it and read it and live by it, but that doesn't make him less of a racist rapist pedophile.
Evanna was actually in hospital with an eating disorder and she wrote to JK Rowling telling her how much she loved Luna and wanted to play her in the film series’s. JK wrote back saying “if you work your very best too get over your eating disorder and get better and healthy by all means come and audition!” Evanna listened got over her eating disorder auditioned and got the part I just find that so cute🥺

I remember a scene that was deleted from the movie. Luna was sitting with someone at the table and mistletoe started growing. Luna quickly got up and left.
One day, a couple of years ago, this girl from my class came up to me and said: « I just read Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix for the first time. Luna Lovegood reminded me of you, I kept picturing you when I read scenes that involved her. » and that, to this day, is still the best compliment I’ve ever received... I literally don’t know _how_ I reminded her of Luna but I was SO flattered. ^^
i think we all need a luna in our lives. someone who is unapologetically themselves. their kind to all, but know when to stand their ground. and their completely honest with you no matter what.
I am thankfully blessed to have two people who fit very close to that description. I don’t know what I’d do with out them. Your comment just made me think of them and how lucky I am.
I absolutely love her. She fits the role perfectly. Her acting and voice are also fantastic. Honestly how did they get such perfect for the role actors it’s uncanny.
i know! its so cute bc evanna had anorexia and was in rehab and she mailed rowling saying that she loved luna and wanted to audition for her and rowling said that if she stopped her disorder then she could audition and she actually got the part
She’s just so freaking lovable, it’s practically impossible to hate her. She’s so cute, she’s honest, and she’s just herself, and I just wanna give her a big hug🥰🥰
The most memorable Luna-moment was near the end of "Order of the Phoenix", when she calmly tries to recollect all the things that have "disappeared" - quite obviously stolen by her bullying classmates - and suddenly Harry's teenage I-am-the-center-of-the-world-an-no-one-understands-me-bubble bursts whith the understanding that everybody has some kind of hardship to fight, not only The Chosen One. Best coming-of-age moment in this coming-of-age-book. That is my personal opinion, feel free to disagree.
Luna Lovegood is my most favourite character in the HP series and a huge part of the credit goes to Evana Lynch. I don't think anyone could have been a better Luna than her. "You're just as sane as I am".... a phrase only a genius can come up with. Everyone knows who it is.
i love hermione, but watching her almost calling luna “looney lovegood” looney means crazy, luna is so pure and doesn’t care about what others think about her, i just love her even tho i’m in slytherin
Watching this after reading Evanna's book 'The Opposite Of Butterfly Hunting'. She went through a lot at that time and she made her dream come true. 😊 She adored Luna so much. I was so happy for her. 😊 The perfect Luna. ❤️ Anyway I can't tell how much tears I'd cried when I read her story. 😭 Sometimes it was so heartbreaking and painful to imagine what life struggles she had to face. I love Evanna and wishing her the best. 💕

Evanna is a great actress, she’s Irish but she put on a British accent (and if u listen to her in the movies and her in the interviews it sounds a little different cause of her accent) her voice is so calming and she generally is such a great actress and she’s beautiful 🤩 Luna is such a unique person/character and Evanna really did bring that to life. Like she came into the auditions knowing that she IS Luna. And being like “I am Luna and I know if you pick someone else that’s fine but I know your wrong”. I really really do admire Evanna’s determination, she’s determined to make the best in life and I love her so much. Luna isn’t someone who freaks out easily like even the worst situations she still has her calm and charming voice. Luna isn’t someone who brags about bad things happening to her (for example: watching your mother die from a failed science experiment at the age of nine) she really is so bright and smart and unique. People talk about “oh Ron’s my fav character or dobby or hermione or Harry or Draco or Fred or George or Ginny ect.” But mine is Luna and I’m not trying to put hate on any other characters at all. I also think we can all agree that everyone needs a Luna in their life. Luna’s fashion sense is also so great 😀. Evanna lynch inspires me Ames she amazing. I love Evanna and Luna so much ❤️ Luna is very weird, in a good way and Evanna lynch really did bring that to life. (I’m not sure if this story is true, but someone told me this is how she got the role) Apparently, she was sick in the hospital with an ED and wrote a letter to JK Rowling talking about how much she loved the character Luna. She replied by stating that if she got better, she could come audition for the role. She ended up getting it at Rowling’s demands.
Ehhh? Isn't it because she is hard stan of Harry Potter and J. K Rowling said if she can beat *name*(I guess it's the person that almost cast to be Luna) in the audition, she will be Luna. She did beat the person and get to be Luna.
I'm a 65 year old Harry Potter fan and I love Luna 💖 Evanna Lynch plays her beautifully 😊 she makes me smile because of her innocence, she's such a special little girl. Thanks Evanna 😊
Personally, I think Evanna nailed the role. She played her character exactly how I imagined Luna! I also love how Luna embraces herself and her personality. She’s different, but doesn’t care. And that’s how I’d like to be❤
She is just LUNA!! I’m proud to be a ravenclaw. She is misty and I relate to her character. Not just in the way she acts but how she isn’t afraid to be her. I sure am not and I’ll never be afraid to. Luna is honestly my favorite character
I can’t believe THEY PLAYED the scene where Harry jumps off the mistletoe because Luna is with him and she tells him about nargles (it’s in the books!!) AND THEY JUST NOT FILMED IT

fxiIingstars I felt Ginny's personality did a complete 180 from the time we meet her to the time she starts dating Harry. I didn't like that. Whereas Luna (and Hermione even) stays consistent throughout the series. I dislike that Harry had to marry Ginny to become an official Weasley as he was already a part of the family either way. I loved Luna and Harry's friendship and felt that they had a lot in common. It would've been nice for the weird girl to end up with the main character for once instead of the character marrying the perfect dream girl.
Luna Lovegood is a bit like Phoebe Buffay from FRIENDS or Cassie from SKINS. All of them are great, hilarious and brutally honest in the most charming way.
