Finished watching with the family. Very interesting and some new kit i've seen before. We are loving the gimble! Me and my daughter are keen to see if you have time to maybe give some tips etc through your post-production of your videos, once you've got your footage together. Don't worry if not, but we would be interested to see that too. Thanks again Adam.

"1K Subscribers" You're officially a RU-vid Sensation Adam!! PS. Wtf? You can't go metal detecting? Even locally? So you could carry it whilst walking... but if you turn it on and dig a hole - that's no longer allowed 🤓😅 Thankyou for the shout out, you absolute Legend 🥰🏅 The quality of your S7 is great. You need to make an amazon affiliate account because I might be buying a few of these! LOOK AT THE SIZE OF YOUR.... 🎤 😜

This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. Very thorough and concise. I’m trying to decide between buying a GoPro or using my iPhone. I have a question on your chest mounted smartphone, how do you deal with the jitters from you walking and swinging your detector? Are you using software stabilizing in editing? I know from the GoPro 5 forward they have built in stabilization. Also are you carrying external battery packs to power or field charge your phone? My iPhone is on its 2nd battery and probably due for a 3rd replacement. Perhaps if it was clear of all extra apps like yours, it would last longer. Thank you again for a great service for those of us who’d like to start capturing our digs. Dave in Pennsylvania, USA.
@DTEKTSUSSEX
@DTEKTSUSSEX Год назад
Hi Dave! Thanks for the nice comment! In terms of stabilisation it's mostly down to trying to keep your chest movements smooth and minimal. Takes a bit of practice...like patting your head and rubbing your belly at the same time 😅 Failing that, most smartphones have an element of on-board stabilisation which you can access through the options. Post production stabilisation is an option but is usually very processor intensive so not generally recommended. I usually have one power bank with me. It's rare that I need it but it's good to have it for those rare moments that I do. I tend to prefer phone footage because you don't get the wall-eye lens effect that most action cams produce. Plus it's a bigger screen with more functionality.

Fantastic insight to your productions. I've recently purchased some similar kit for filming that I will no doubt introduce to future detecting films. I have a shotgun type mic and had been looking at a lavalier, but unsure of whether to go wireless for convenience, or wired for budget restraints haha. Always enjoy your work, and it's been nice to see the effort you put into your episodes
@DTEKTSUSSEX

Thank you for the lovely comment! I personally prefer the 'shotgun' style due to the directional features. I haven't tried a wireless one but I'd be concerned about it losing connection and not realising. Good luck!! 😃😎👍

Hi Adam, only half-way through your video but am really enjoying it as me and my daughter are getting into editing little videos for family etc. First question - how do you power your external microphone whilst out-and-about? Thank you for making this. Looking forward to watching the rest soon.

Hi! Thanks for the nice comment. Great to hear you're starting to get into filming and editing! The microphone doesn't need a separate power supply. It just plugs into the phone's headphone jack and works from there. 😃😎👍

Hi Adam, I went out today with the new Moukey shotgun mic (and in my piece to camera I gave you a well deserved shout), but I had a problem almost straight away. I filmed a few clips with no mic, and my phone was on about 90% battery. I attached the Moukey (using the supplied cable and the coldshoe and holder that I got for phone). and I filmed 2 clips, just under 2 minutes each. The videos were 1 min 42 and 1 min 57, using pro vide mode on the samsung Note 9, running One UI 2.5, Android 10. I then walked for about 5 minutes with the mic attached and camera open, but NOT filming. My battey was at 9% when I went to film my next piece to camera. What happened, Do you have any idea???? I changed from the cheap Lavalier mic I had because it was draining my phone battery, but that one would last about 3/4 of a detecting session (a couple hours), before it was empty. This one drained it in 10 miniutes! I think you have the same phone, or very similar, have you ever had a mic drain your battery like this? If I can't figure it out, I will have to look at Go Pros or possible the DJI Osmo that Scottish Relics have just got. I would rather not spend all that money though, I need a new laptop to run HitFilm Express properly, so could do with solving the battery drain problem. Please help! Thank you so much, Lori
@DTEKTSUSSEX
@DTEKTSUSSEX 3 года назад
Hi Lori, That is BIZARRE! The mic uses a principle of 'Phantom Power' in that it uses the phone's battery rather than one of it's own (same principle as plug-in headphones). That means it will pull power from the phone but it shouldn't drain it THAT quickly! I can get at least 5 hours out of my Galaxy S9 phone with the mic attached...and that includes a lot of slow-mo footage etc which is very draining. Lavellier mics use practically nothing in terms of power. If the lavellier was draining it too it sounds like it may be an issue with the phone or its battery rather than the mic itself. If either are a couple of years old+ it could mean either the battery isn't holding its charge as much as it should or there are background apps/processes on the device that are coming online when recording sound that are draining it. Might be worthwhile speaking with your contract provider or your favourite phone shop to see if they can diagnose it. Could be as simple as replacing the battery with a fresh one. How frustrating! Really hope you can get it resolved. The shotgun will always give you better sound quality and wind cancelling than the lavellier. 😎😃👍

@@DTEKTSUSSEX I've managed to get into battery settings and it shows the complete drain in just a few minutes. It says the camara was involved, and the drain is worse than previous block where the internal mic was bent used. But the percentage it gives isn't telling the whole story because it isn't enough to drain it.... I'll see if I can upload the screen shots somewhere so you can see them. Thanks 😊

Just take it one step at a time. Get comfortable then learn the next easiest thing. It's like metal detecting: there's always something new to learn! I edit on Hitfilm Express. Completely free and powerful software (you can purchase upgrades here and there but you don't need to for metal detecting videos!). Loads of helpful tutorials on RU-vid for it. Highly recommend! 😃😎👍
