In this special bonus episode of In The Booth, Tiesto works with the designers and visionaries of WET, the agency behind the iconic water displays of the Fountains at the Bellagio, to create a special show just for his music. With the debut of this fountain show, he joins the likes of legends like Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra and the Beatles whose music is already part of this amazing show while also becoming the first DJ/producer to have his music featured at the fountains.

Nice work on this one, WET. Some more of your typically top-notch choreography. It's always nice to see how much effort goes into making these shows. Anyone who's at the Bellagio and wonders if it'd be easier and cheaper to just have a computer make up the show, go across the street to the Planet Hollywood's mall and see their fountain, which performs on the hour. Its choreography was created entirely by its computer system. 30 seconds in, you've seen everything the fountain can do, and it may tend not to 'grab and hold' your attention like the Bellagio can.

If Disneyland's World of Color did this, it would be so much with all the led ring fountains, lasers, lightshows, and flames too that will cooperate well with the actual songs of Tiesto.

+Jan Edmarc Balallo Depends on the show. The WET-built "Aquanura" show at the Efteling theme park also has a Tiesto show, using remixes of the park's attraction songs used in the other Aquanura shows, and isn't being as well-received as the others. It could be good, or not so good, depending on the audience.

Jonas Clark I see that, what I meant is that Disneyland's World of Color has a much more better ability to surprise their audiences with all kinds of effects: e.g. lasers, fires, projections, strobes, spotlights, and syncrolites. Not trying to argue but in my opinion World of Color has a much more advance technology to operate a show.

Jan Edmarc Balallo It's also a very different kind of show, aimed at a different sort of audience. The WoC show is amazing, technologically, but they severely under-use some of the specialty nozzles they had custom-made, which could be real eye-catchers, in favor of focusing on the video images on the water screens. It's nonetheless a great show. Some of their laser effects (the glitter in the water jet), the UV-reactive bubbles, fountains in the planters, really nifty stuff. If you want to see a show built by WET for a similar "feature event" effect at a theme park, there's Aquanura at Efteling, which is quite a nice show. It, like WoC, has moving fire and several unusual nozzles, but lacks any video projection.

+Jonas Clark I see that, In fact I'm at Bellagio right now. I agree with you, it's a little windy today, I never thought that Bellagio had that system to control the intesity of the nozzles when it gets windy.

+Jan Edmarc Balallo I believe there are three anemometers: north and south on the hotel, and on the campanile. But the shows are also monitored live by at least one operator. About halfway along the 'village' facades, there is a square tower with an octagonal top having a domed roof; that's the control booth. Have fun in LV!

Why does the extreme shooters shoot only in day time for uptown funk?

Unfortunately starting around December of last year I noticed WET has been much more cautious about using full power and the extreme shooters. It seems now you'll only see the extreme shooters when there's literally no wind at all which is very rare. I wish they would reconsider because the show really loses excitement without full power.

I think it’s because of the noise and the wind blowing water into the street and crowd.

Why do they have to add techno music? It was great the way it was. I cannot stand techno and i hear it in everything and I'm sick of it.
@JonasClark

+cruisebumify You can, then, pick up a printed fountain schedule from the Bellagio concierge and miss that one. Miss "Pink Panther," too, as it's a dance-ish remix. I'm not the biggest fan of club/techno music, but I think they chose something engaging, as this style goes, and put up some tight, well-orchestrated programming.

+Jonas Clark Thanks. I guess you can't please everybody. I know younger people probably like this kind of sound because that's what they grew up with and that's ok but there are also older people like us who grew up with classic rock, Beatles, Pink Floyd, etc. so thank you for your response.

David Castillo I'd love to see a piece of classic rock on this show. I can think of some songs I think might choreograph well.

Im not liking this new music, it doesn't belong on a fountain.

+ThatGuy:p From a choreography standpoint, techno offers a lot of possibilities. But also, Bellagio tries to cater to everyone with the fountains' shows; it already has pop, rock, opera, classical, swing, Broadway, and techno (the "Malibu remix" of Mancini's Pink Panther.) But you can get a schedule of which songs play at which times-- this changes, sometimes even weekly-- from the concierge at the far left in the Bellagio lobby. If you're walking the Strip with friends, it could be handy to know exactly what's coming next, in case you'd rather walk on by and see the show on the walk back. Whether a visitor's Vegas vibe is high-roller elegance, Frank Sinatra, Elvis, pounding club music, or whatever, the Fountains of Bellagio have it.
