In the last month of the space shuttle programme, Kevin Fong is granted extraordinary access to the astronauts and ground crew as they prepare for their final mission. He is in mission control as the astronauts go through their final launch simulation, and he flies with the last shuttle commander as he undertakes his last practice landing flight. Kevin also gains privileged access to the shuttle itself, visiting the launchpad in the company of the astronaut who will guide the final flight from mission control.
Kevin's journey takes him to the heart of NASA, when after 30 years of shuttle missions, they finally draw the curtain. As well as meeting the final astronauts, Kevin follows the specialist teams of men and women whose job it is to make sure the shuttle and its crew are as safe as they can possibly be.
After experiencing the launch and being in mission control during the final mission, Kevin will be there on the tarmac at the Kennedy Space Centre when Atlantis returns from space for the last time, marking the end of an era in manned space flight.

I remember both times a shuttle was lost. The first was on Jan. 28, 1986 with the loss of Challenger 73 seconds after liftoff. I was home from work that day with the flu. I watched it on CNN, which had it live, and recorded it on my VCR. I still have the tape today. The next was the Columbia on Feb. 1, 2003. I was watching it on TV, my husband got home from work, and I was fixing breakfast for us. I couldn't believe it was happening again, but this time on re-entry. Challenger was STS-51L, and Columbia was STS-107. RIP to both crews, and to the shuttle program. (Jan Griffiths).

Bubbles in space. CGI. NASA means to lift up and deceive. Rockets fall to Earth and go into the Bermuda Triangle. That is why they don't want you going there. God created a FIRMAMENT. And Satanists think they can trick you into believing they can go past the firmament. God created HUMANS and they told you you came from MONKEYS. They have gotten the people to REJECT GOD AND THE BIBLE. And they have fooled the world, then released the videos of them fooling the world with camera tricks. NASA is a fraud. THAT is why they quit. They were caught too many times with green screens and filming UNDERWATER.

Shuttle was a poor performer, because it was not optimized for any specific mission: It was too heavy and complex as a crew carrier, because it had that huge cargo space. It was too heavy and complex as a cargo carrier, because it had to be able to perform re-entry. NASA should have developed two different launch vehicles instead of one. But they couldn't, because of budget cuts implemented by short-sighted politicians.

All of the technology and all the moving parts and people and millions and millions or billions of dollars spent on the shuttle and the operation of it. A constant flow of updating and making it better then the last time, and all the supporting systems and programs like the jets that are made to glide like the shuttle does. All of that stuff put together, yet the motorhome that brings the astronauts to the shuttle pad is still the one they used back in the 60's. LoL if it ain't broke don't fix it right!!! LoL! I don't know if that is even true if it's that old or made to look like the original one but I think that is supper cool that it appears to be the same one! If anyone knows any history on that please do tell!!

According to the tour guide I had at KSC years ago, it is the same one, and it's got ridiculously low miles (because all it does is go out to the launch pad and back again.) I think they modified the inside at some point.

To me, it ended with "Challenger" in the 80's when I watched it blow the f'k up and my 3rd grade teacher (Mrs. Grimes) started crying uncontrollably while trying to shut the TV off 😔..never quite trusted the "shuttles" after that. (Edit) It's unbelievable that I watched the second plane hit the second tower on 9/11/2001 at work and my boss started crying uncontrollably as well trying to turn the shitty TV with the broken remote off. Full circle ay??!!

As for shuttle it had inherent risks. It’s very dangerous to go to space at this stage of exploration. 100 years it may not be. The fact that thousands of gallons of rocket fuel are being lit instantaneously is risky. Everyone accepts the danger who is involved in the shuttle program.

End of 2021 and the SLS is still quiet. The SLS is made literally with the same Shuttle components. It should go to the Moon - sometime. But the costs and the complex processing of the SLS does seem to have been carried over from the Shuttle. There are also things that have not been sufficiently explained, as why is taking almost a year to fix some stuck thrusters on the Orion space capsule. Very nice film about the Space Shuttle, have my compliments for it...

Anyone else just unable to help laughing to themselves when @17:50ish you look at the artificial horizon in any of the frames to see it in a position you hope to never see an artificial horizon in lmfao. It looks almost as if it’s malfunctioning.
