@C K Good insight and another sad example of how intelligent women who are good at what they do are treated so much differently than their male counterparts.
I agree with you, if you want to be President Of The US, and you don’t want to answer questions regardless of the nature of this way, then make your self a favor and quit
As usual, a bully has no manners. He should be more than used to answering even tough questions. He is a prominent politician, whether he likes it or not.
For the most part, yes. But it's incredibly disrespectful that she doesn't pronounce Kamala's name correctly. She needs to have a visit with her race & culture unit.
@@LLemonopy seems a shallow criticism. This woman is better spoken and better educated than the POTUS. Mispronunciation of Kamala’s name as heard by you has nothing to do with discrimination, so don’t take it down that road. Spend your time LISTENING to her verbiage and language
@@brendaswann7292 Not at all - it's a very important point. And if Susan Zirinsky is sincere about running and anti-racist workplace and newsroom (which it sounds like she is), she would not only welcome this being pointed out, she would be thankful for it. BIPOC with names that are "unusual" to white people have to endure them repeatedly mis-pronouncing their names, every day, ad nauseam. It's a racist micro-aggression, and it's not ok. Kamala Harris is one of the most reported on women, and arguably the most important woman in the US news currently. It's unacceptable that the head of a US news network can't pronounce her name correctly. Though I know little about Zirinksy aside from this video, I agree that she is articulate and seems intelligent. It's great to see women in those kinds of positions - we need more of them. My comment doesn't negate her accomplishments or value, it only points out an important and harmful mistake. Those of us trying to be anti-racist unintentionally screw up all the time. We want other people to call us out so we can do better going forward.
The POTUS should be able to answer any and all questions, whether they're "tough" or "soft". The reasons why Leslie Stahl interrupted Trump was he never answers any questions directly and always goes off on another subject. Trump always throws in how great he is during an interview, never giving anything that resemblances an answer. Leslie Stahl is a class act and a great journalist.

Leslie Stahl was not disrespectful or biased. She had to interrupt the president repeatedly because he routinely dodged her questions. Her job is to get answers to her questions, and he was trying to worm his way out. She was not aggressive, She was assertive. I have A problem with this woman’s word choice, because she says aggressive when that is The wrong word. Aggressive means behaving as though you matter, but others don’t. Assertive means behaving as though you matter, and others matter. Leslie Stahl behaved assertively. Insisting that someone stays on topic in an interview when you are the interviewer is not disrespectful or dishonorable. It is literally what she is there to do.
MSU Activists, thank you for pointing out aggressive vs assertive. I was thinking the same things you mentioned in your comment. Ms.Stahl was not aggressive at all.

Absolutely agree with you, and to be honest, i thought she was pretty mild compared to UK and European interviews with politicians. Journalists are supposed to ask pertinent and tough questions, and try to get to the truth, especially of the person in power who is “supposed” to be accountable.

A good leader, yes. Because she backed her employee through thick and thin. If you watch the WH version (>35 minutes), LS does interrupt quite often. Although as Sue Z said, most times are professionally. She also badgered Trump quite often. Especially when asking about mask wearing by his rally crowds. He told her at least twice that they hand out thousands of masks at these things. That struck me as peculiar. Considering her age (70's) she was sitting in the WH interviewing a person who tested positive and was not wearing a mask, and without wearing a mask herself. CBS also failed to include a few statements Trump made about what has been removed from the ACA so far. All improvements.

Instead, he was praised for interrupting, fact-checking Trump's statements in real time. Stahl did a great job and Trump couldn't handle it
Because she was a woman, so she's aggressive and being a b!tch. The other was a man, so there is the stereotype analogy. He doesn't like strong willed people, especially females.
From Australia: Trump does not like being asked questions that exposes his lies and half truths. Good journalists in a democracy ask tough questions and they do interrupt if the politician (and that is all Trump is) tries to gaslight and spin. In Australia, most of our politicians expect this from journalists and the great ones welcome tough questions. Politicians that walk out of interviews because they can't handle tough questions have a short electoral life. Trump continues to bring disgrace to his country.
It is good to know that Australia maintains a high standard of journalism and that politicians expect it and can operate with it. That ensures stability in governments & nations.

Trump is such a baby. He sure can dish it out but when asked normal questions that he doesn't want to deal with, he says, "That's it, I'm leaving because you're being too hard on me." Meanwhile, he is the biggest bully and talks nasty about everyone who knows him too well. This man child has got to be taken out of the white house soon.

Ms. Zirinsky keep up the good work. Hold the powerful accountable for us, the citizens. As a 3 tour combat veteran of VN, I salute you and your organization for your service. Keep up the good work.
Good morning. Let me start out by saying this was an excellent interview and Ms. Zirinsky was very candid. Many years ago while studying History I took a vested interest in the subject matter for the following reasons; 1. I had a history teacher(who l learned from speaking with him in later years was a trainee teacher at the time. My high school principal hired him because he was so impressive and god at what he did), 2. I went on to study History in college and teach the subject matter to high school students, 3. In studying American history, I was impressed by freedom of the press and how our forefathers ensured that this was placed in the constitution. In keeping with this I studied various types of government. Many of these governments control the media and what goes out to the public. This was deliberately done to control the people and how they think and react to what is happening. 4. As an independent and patriotic voter I watched the two interviews. I am in full agreement with Susan that the interviews were equally tough on both political parties. Right out of the bat Trump was so combative with Leslie. One is among the best of the best. She kept her cool and was respectful throughout the process. All of us are respectful of the office of the president and Leslie went over and above to ensure that this happen. The president cutting short the interview and tweeting out that Leslie(quite wasn't wearing a mask was beyond petty. The president posting the interview before it was aired took pettiness to another level. The president needs to be taught what freedom of the press is as outlined in the constitution. He also had a missed opportunity by continuing his narrative of a fake media(because the media does not align and agree with many of the nonsensical things that he has done. He also missed a golden opportunity to put forward his and his parties position. Finally, something that was taught to me in literature class in school, always check your sources and if something sounds too good to be true there is a strong possibility that it is not true. Social media is in the infant stage(like many things that start out and get better overtime, it will get better overtime). Members of the public need to be encouraged especially our young people to check out, look up things for themselves and ensure that the source is reliable and true before believing and spreading things. Social media has opened up avenues for many people. It has brought the world a little closer to home. It has given the opportunity to reach a wider audience. Use it for the common good and to your advantage. In closing great interview and I look forward to your election coverage and leading up to election day. Keep up the good work and it is good to see all these great journalists (both male and female) throughout the media landscape excelling and bringing the information to the public so they can make an informed and conscious decision.
I think people misunderstand the "tough questions" thing. A tough question, even if it's about something that is some disgusting allegation, don't get mad about being asked about it. An interviewer is giving you the chance to answer it and shut it down. A tough question is an opportunity.
@Debi Fox he may have been over it, but he keeps beating the same horse; when he is trying to disparage his opponents. When he relentlessly attacks and goes after people, with insults. He can dish it out but he can't take it. This is TYPICAL BULLY MENTALITY!!!.
Leslie was combative and interrupted the President constantly. I’ve never seen her so belligerent. She spoiled the interview, very different from her usual style. Very disrespectful😠. Shame on her😡
