Raya and the Last Dragon features an outstanding voice cast, including Kelly Marie Tran as the voice of the intrepid warrior Raya; Awkwafina as the legendary dragon, Sisu; Gemma Chan as Raya’s nemesis, Namaari; Daniel Dae Kim as Raya’s visionary father, Benja; Sandra Oh as Namaari’s powerful mother, Virana; Benedict Wong as Tong, a formidable giant; Izaac Wang as Boun, a 10-year-old entrepreneur; Thalia Tran as the mischievous toddler Little Noi; Alan Tudyk as Tuk Tuk, Raya’s best friend and trusty steed; Lucille Soong as Dang Hu, the leader of the land of Talon; Patti Harrison as the chief of the Tail land; and Ross Butler as chief of the Spine land.
Raya and the Last Dragon takes us on an exciting, epic journey to the fantasy world of Kumandra, where humans and dragons lived together long ago in harmony. But when an evil force threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity. Now, 500 years later, that same evil has returned and it’s up to a lone warrior, Raya, to track down the legendary last dragon to restore the fractured land and its divided people. However, along her journey, she’ll learn that it’ll take more than a dragon to save the world-it’s going to take trust and teamwork as well.

I really appreciate the creators of this movie as a Filipina. I love the fact that they even gave attention to the fight scenes combined with all the SEA's own martial arts, plus Raya wearing our traditional rural hat! Thank you so much Disney. Finally!

Agreed, agreed. I couldn't believe that they used a lot of representation of countries, especially ours! I love the designs of the characters, the plot, the places they travel to, the music, oh my god, the music is so epic, I can't handle it. By far, the best movie of Disney, at least in my opinion. No hate. :)) But it's really beautiful, the story, the plot, the moral of the story is so memorable. I appreciate the creators as well, as a Filipina. :)

Just watched it and let me tell you, it’s absolutely incredible. I’m a bit of an animation nerd and seeing the graphics and just how lifelike, yet still original the style is made me squeal! The story is great, the music is fantastic, the characters and design are so beautiful and if you can, 100% recommend you watch this move.

Interesting that they have elements of SEA martial arts. I hope they have some silat in there too :) The history of SEA is fascinating, but at least speaking from my Filipino heritage, too many Filipinos know too little of their own history. Indeed, my Filipino heritage is really from the Sulu region (my relatives are mostly in Basilan, Jolo and Tawi Tawi). Most Filipinos I have talked to know very little about their pre-Spanish colonial period. They are not aware for example of Sulu's ties to Brunei and Sabah. Many do not even know that the word Visayas comes from the Sri Vijayan empire of what would today be parts of Indonesia and Malaysia (nor are they aware of Tagalog's Sanskrit roots, or Hindu and Buddhist statues that may have come from influence of the Majapahit empire). Nor are people aware of the Champas of Vietnam. Perhaps because I am only half asian, I have always wanted to know more about my ancestors. I hope this movie inspires SEAsians to learn more about their cultures.

Yeaaahhh I do feel you, I was like, was this movie hinting on how we used to be one same nation back in the day and sadly we had to go our own ways and somehow the other countries in SEA feel like strangers. So sad

@@iamkyuu I'm not sure SEA was really ever the same nation :) There were lots of wars going on between the various kingdoms of the time. But I know what you mean, and there was definitely a lot of cross culturization. For example, many don't know that the the largest Buddhist temple in the world (and that rivals Angkor Wat) is Borobudur in Indonesia. In my genetic test, I have a non-trivial amount of both Vietnamese Kinh and Chinese Dai in me which shows immigrations in the past. My grandmother's people are the Tausugs, which means "people of the currents (or sea)". The other great sailors of the Philippines are the Badjao who actually inhabit most of SEA. And my lola's lola's name was Meiling :) SEA is a fascinating place that I wish more people (especially other SEAsians) knew about.

At least she is a South East Asian, majority of the voice actors are Chinese and Korean ancestry. They have different culture than what the movie is based on.

I was pretty surprised when I saw the voice casting. I generally don’t think voice actors have to match their characters’ ethnicity, but if it’s a film geared and marketed toward representation, then it’s an important part to be considered.

Love Kelly Marie Tran. She did an amazing job in Raya and this role and character and movie was made for her. She represented it very well and her voice is so gentle and soothing. No one would have been better than her for this role. She has made the Vietnamese people very honored and proud of her accomplishments. first i saw the trailer on youtube then i saw that on tiktok the i was like "ok i have to watch this movie" and it was amazing i watched it two times in one week
