Dude you are great for going through all that effort. Shows a lot about your character and dedication to work at such a great hobby that lifts a lot of spirits. Merry Christmas to you and your family. I know your kids love it! Keep up the good work and have a great New Year!!!
OMG 1st off I LOVE ALL ur displays I just recently discovered them here on RU-vid just this year but they are AWESOME I LOVE to watch them. I love that you have an ACER laptop as well they are awesome we have 2 acers personally =) What you do with the lights is just fantastic if we are ever in the area which i doubt we ever will be I would sooo go buy and watch them in person my daughter would love them as well yall are amazing and gained a new subscriber today as well Happy Holidays =)
Wow! Very impressive! More work than I thought which makes me appreciate people like you who do these shows. Merry Christmas from the great wite north!
For the high stuff, try renting an articulated boom lift from Home Depot or a heavy equipment rental company. That's what I did last year, for $200 it saves A TON of time (and no need for scary ladders)!
Dude, you're a genius ! My family and I enjoy your lights display greatly ! Thanks a lot for sharing them with us, here on youtube. Merry Christmas to you and your family !!!
Small houses dress up very well and you don't need nearly as many lights for the same effect. The hampster dance song was inspired by head family on a much smaller display.
Nice job John! The city I live in does the same thing downtown, except they have about 50 controllers! I help every year and it takes us about 2 months to get everything up. Plus programming time! The electric bill for something like this is actually less than normal since you don't have all of the lights on all at the same time!
Wow... can't wait to get started on my own light show !! You lost me about 1 minute in. :) Thanks, this is amazing... loved your Psy video. You could probably make a ton of money doing this on the side.... of course it looks like you'd need to start in January for the next season. Keep on rockin, this is really cool.
Thank you for such a thorough overview. I was curious as to how many parts there were to this type display and you have been the only one I found to share it. Impressive as to parts and effort. Happy New Year!
So each snowflake, tree, etc is on a separate channel? No wonder all the extensions! How many miles of cords to you have, do you know! Very useful video, always been into Christmas lights but haven't done anything animated yet. Once I'm a bit older I'll be thinking about it. Great video, and Merry Christmas!
WOW! How long does it take you to set this up and how much does this cost? Very impressive. Thanks for sharing your 'How to' video. I was hopeful when it started that I might be able to do this but lost all hope after 30 seconds! LOL.
Man, great job and a lot of work! What do you do for a living, so you have time to do such a thing :) ? Btw are you EE or CE? Regular person wouldn't be able to connect that...
Out of all these videos, yours actually helped me get my dumb RGB controller up and running. I couldn't figure out why when I turned up channel 1, both controllers responded! I've only had 1 controller for 10 years, so after actually adding 1 RGB, I found you have to change the Unit ID to "2" ... duh, I felt dumb.
If you don't do LED's you will need to watch your power bill and make sure you don't overload any one circuit or any one extension cord and cause a fire.
I don't even know what to do with the cables in my room and those cables are just like the lamp, charger, PC,.. so imagine me with all your cables. OMG.
couple of redstone repeaters sprinkled in there too. By the way I have a huge tree with an ice-skating rink on the LavaCraft server. /plot home johnstorms
Not to be mean or any thing since I think what you did was super cool but next time you make a video like this one try not to pick such a windy day or do something so your cam don't pick it up cause its hard to hear you with the wind!
What kind of board do you get that control the power on/off? I am planning to get Falcon board but it only control signals to Pixels lights but not controlling my dumb lights only one color per strip. Your video shows control power but not signal.
I really think you guys do an awesome job, but I don't know how you could even upload an instructional video with all that wind noise. Not trying to be negative, but it's really hard to understand you in certain parts. I wish you could get a video up without so much background noise. Other than that I think what you guys do is amazing.
I have never seen so many extension cords and wires in one small location in my life! How is all this not a fire hazard! In addition, that is a LOT of money spent on lights, boxes, storage and electricity...you could probably feed a couple of hungry families for a year on what you have spent on this. Christmas isnt about who has the best lights on their house. Im not normally one to post negative crap on someones page, but seriously, the time and money spent on xmas lights...wow.
I love the walk through but in the end its is a work work work out and wish to see all this long work in action... OMG you must have started in like september or so to get all this done and no to a simple person doing a Mr chrismas 20 song its not for the light harded... I would have to start in like june to get mine up and don and the cost of this is around what 10k?
You don't pay much for electricity due to his LED lighting but the light o rama controllers can get a little pricey. It may seem a bit overwhelming at first when you are trying to set up these light systems, he hires a crew to come set up the high stuff while total setup takes about two weekends.. The programming doesn't take that long either for an experienced light o rama programmer (or once you get used to it). It is something that he loves to do and is his passion, the same way with me.
