You've worked with a lot of great actors in many different venues! Richard Chamberlain is my other favorite "Richard!" I'm old enough (boo hoo) to remember Dr Kildare ~ handsome!! And, my goodness ~ The Thorn birds ~ whew ! What a story! Barbara Stanwyck was an amazing villainess! I recently watched her perform as Stella Dallas, a very complex role! Her performance broke my heart! Amazing! Judy, do you think you would like to tour with a theater company as Richard Thomas is doing with Mockingbird? I can't imagine the stamina required to deliver hundreds of performances! As regards the Walton's music ~ the series' theme song has to be one of the most recognizable songs ever written. For me, though, I loved The Homecoming music best! There have been times, I listened to the opening sequence music again and again to lift my spirits. What was the series you performed with Richard Chamberlain? Is it available online anywhere? He, too, strikes me as a very kind and considerate, humble person! Maybe he can be an honorary Walton! ❤☺️Lots of love to you and Walton's everywhere! 🙏🌐🕊️

I think I would enjoy doing a tour, especially if I loved the role. The mini-series I worked on with Richard Chamberlain is The Lost Daughter. I’m not sure if it’s available anywhere.

@@judynorton2598 I hope you get a chance to tour then! You could write your own show! You know all of us here would be first in line for tickets if your show is anywhere near us! I saw Hal Holbrook in his one-man Mark Twain Show! He was wonderful! I like his voice and demeanor so much! I wish I could have seen Julie Harris in her Emily Dickinson show! I hope you get the chance! 🧡💐

Judy, The question about the change in background music in Season 9 was asked recently on The Waltons Forum, and a forum member posted this: “There was a musicians strike in Hollywood in 1980, and Alexander Courage was part of the guild, so he couldn’t score the shows during the strike. So the Lorimar shows had to use stock music for the first part of the 1980-81 season. I agree, it’s jarring. You’ll find the same issue with “Knots Landing”, “Dallas”, and “Eight is Enough” during that period. Fortunately, the strike was settled and the regular music returns in the second half of season 9.”

I also noticed how the music on the show changed especially when the character of Drew was introduced I think in season 7 or 8 and I remember mentioning this before in an earlier comment over a year ago. Getting a role without auditioning must be wonderful, very similar to me getting my first job without an interview back in the mid 80's, boy those were the days. Hi Judy, this was a really good episode. But sort of sad since looking down the list I see that all of them except for Anson and Donnie are no longer with us. I have fond memories of M*A*S*H* since my Dad was a combat medic in WWII, I met Bill Christopher ( Father Mulcayhe?) while flying to Orange Co. Airport to see my sister. "'Leave It to Beaver' was always one of my favorite shows as a kid since Jerry Mathers is only a year older than me, and like The Waltons, there was a lot of myself that I saw in his character. I think every guy I knew admired Tony Dow. He was handsome and a very good athlete who might have become an Olympic diver and swimmer if he had not found a role in T.V. I have even more admiration for him since television showed the house that he designed and built. It is really outstanding. I am so sorry he has passed on and suffered from depression all his life. Mental illiness in one of he cruelest diseases of all. It is not only hard on the person but the family as well. I know, both my mother and sister were bipolar and our house was seldom peaceful. Hope you have a great day .

I agree with markogle1949. Wonderful how you have seized these opportunities & I believe those to come. On one of my family's many camping trips, as a child, we detoured to New York city as Dad had surprised us to see The Sound of Music with Mary Martin. My heart leaped with tears as she opened on the mountain top to sing. Years later (as adult) I saw her in Chicsgo in the play "I do, I do".She was fabulous. I had never written a fan letter before, but sent one to the hotel where she was staying.....and she wrote a very kind note back sincerely thanking me for writing to her. Be still my faint heart. Well I did not realise that Larry Hagman was Mary Martin’s son - I ove it when the cast engage with the audience when something goes wrong. I saw a comedy in London and the lead forgot his line totally and started to laugh, setting everyone off 😂 he had to shout to the audience to be quiet so he could get back on track (but he was still laughing himself) but that just made everyone laugh even more. It look a good few minutes but they got back on track and he had the biggest cheer at the end of the show. You have worked with some amazing people. A very blessed career ❤

Amazing & adventuresome experience you have, Judy! So much more beyond The Waltons than I knew. Plus, even among the few colleagues you’ve mentioned here, you’ve worked with many “greats”. Though I expect they & others appreciate you, too. (And riding so soon after giving birth!? You are game!) Larry Linville, as one “great”, gave such an indelible performance on MASH. The Frank character could’ve been so flat & not funny without his quirky & distinctive choices. I was surprised once when reading about Mr. Linville this year he was Will Geer’s son-in-law during the first years of The Waltons! Thanks again for bringing us views of your career & I think well-loved life!

Quite the roster of actors you have had the pleasure to work with - and your pleasure certainly shows through as you talk about them! I would love to see some of the TV work you mentioned - I will try to see if Valentine is streaming anywhere...what is the name of the miniseries with Richard Chamberlain? What a riot - your story about Larry Linville - so different from his character on Mash (one of my favorite shows!). When you talk about the whole cast (and the audience) laughing about a "mistake" and it doesn't "ruin" the show, it brought to mind the Carol Burnett show - I used to love when that happened with Harvey Corman and Tim Conway. Sometimes you just have to go with it!

Off topic question for you Judy. In 1976 John Boy appeared in a couple episodes where he was using a cane which they said were from a motorcycle incident. I’m sure that really wasn’t the case. Do you recall if Richard really injured his is leg, how or was this really just part of these couple episodes? I watched the episode today with Merle Haggard. That must have been a special treat for Jon Walmsley. Thank you!
@judynorton2598

Yes, Richard had broken his ankle while filming a movie about a huge James Dean fan. He had a bad motorcycle accident. So he needed the cane for a few episodes and limped a bit for a while. Yes, Jon loved working with Merle Haggard.

@@judynorton2598 Thank you for the response. I’ve kinda been watching the Walton reruns ever since Covid hit since I was forced to work from home. The earlier years are by far my favorites when all you kids were young. I have to admit there are still some episodes that bring a tear or two to my eyes. I saw some of the cast held reunions in Schuyler VA. I’m down that way ever fall for an off-road motorcycle event. I also take a street motorcycle with me and do a long ride and had planned on heading to Schuyler. I did some research and saw the Hamner house was sold and no longer doing tours. It had become a B&B. I kick myself for never attending one of the reunions but I didn’t know they existed. Again, thank you.

Great stories. Love when the 4th wall gets broken off script like that in a comedy, because it can work, it's funny and audiences love it. What a great bunch of folks you've worked with. How long did you have to write the replacement for Love Letters? Sounds like a sweet story.
