Lucy Hedges and Snapdragon Insiders/content creators Paul Smith, Kevin Breeze, and Sarae Karyn give a behind the scenes look at Snapdragon Summit 2023 as they speak with various members of Qualcomm leadership about the Snapdragon X Elite compute platform.
Lucy and the Snapdragon Insiders learned during the keynote address that Snapdragon X Elite’s incredible AI performance is setting a new benchmark for mobile computing. For content creators like Paul, Kevin, and Sarae, this enhanced AI can boost efficiency, making workflows faster and more seamless.
As Cristiano Amon, CEO of Qualcomm, said in the keynote, the Oryon CPU - the heart of Snapdragon X Elite - is the new leader in mobile computing. Alex Katouzian, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Qualcomm, echoed this, saying that AI has been brought into the foreground for computing, enabling incredible performance and efficiency.
The benchmarks set by AI will sway customer purchase decisions - and Snapdragon’s AI leadership sets Snapdragon X Elite apart from other compute platforms in its class.

Qualcomm this is fantastic work! Incredible. Please make sure you prioritise Linux Kernel support for these chips. The server market is dominated by Linux which already runs way more performant and efficient on Intel and AMD then Windows does. The server admins will want the X Elite on their servers and Linux will run them, if you supply the drivers to the kennel team, out of the box more efficiently and powerfully than Windows server, potentially doubling the performance those servers can make. That's going to be a huge market for you to sell into: Linux servers and Data Centres. And if the drivers are in the kennel, Linux desktop will immediately be able to run on X Elite as well, so you hit 2 markets at once' server and desktop.

Thank you for mentioning Linux. I also hope that their bootloader for the Snapdragon X Elite is not locked down so that there's potential for a gaming handheld that can dual boot into Windows, Linux and maybe even Android in the future.

Yes , we need diversity and availability. Windows is not fair for arm cpus and chromebooks aren't available as much. We need linux machine , linux covers allot of cases and has active development for arm architecture , And need driver's support with mainline kernel .

With Samsung Unpacked right around the corner, I’m even more excited about Snapdragon X Elite. I had a blast shooting Episode 1 for the series. Getting to dig deeper into all that really goes in the making of something so tiny, but powerful was great. For me, the mobile gaming capabilities available with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will be something insane. Stay tuned 🫡

Qualcomm has really remained passionate about Windows on Arm. I'm excited about what they have achieved with the Snapdragon X Elite. Gerard Williams at this point is one of the best engineering architects, his team has really impressed me. I can't wait for Microsoft to put it in their Surface Pro. I'm also hoping to see a Gaming Handheld Console PC using the Snapdragon X Elite. Will there be an upgrade to the Snapdragon X Elite for the Project Volterra DevKits?

I feel worried about 8gen3, that xiaomi 14 pro heats up to 50 Celsius, the battery gets cooked 🍳 But you guys said that 8gen3 can go for 1 more hour of gaming compare to 8gen2 wich was a cool 🧊 chip in many phones So is xiaomi using the chip wrong?
