Lead Vocalist Freddy Curci and Co-Founder/Guitartist Steve DeMarchi from Sheriff at 97.3 studios share their story about their song "When I'm With You" on vinyl.
My FAVORITE part of this interview…❤…. Is when he Air Drum that part of the song…. He did it in his video “when I’m with you”…. Same spot 😊… I Love it EVERY TIME!! ❤😊
I sing this to my 3.5 year old when putting her to bed. I can hit the notes at lullaby volume, but could never do what Freddy does. Amazing voice and song!
Dear Freddy and Steve, I'm so sorry that Sheriff didn't live the life it should have. As a musician, I know full well how career struggles and irreconcilable differences can end the magic forever. I just want to thank you for your special, singular, and perfect album from that point in my life, and for the feelings its music gives me to this day. I still listen to it with the same amazement as when I bought the album in 1982 at age 13. I wore out the album, so now I need to buy the CD. Best wishes to you both. May I ask whatever happened to Rob Elliott after Sheriff? Did he hang up his sticks?
Driving towards the sunset on a perfect warm day in the country headed to a buddies house. Widows down not a care in the world. This song comes on and the Jensen Triaxles pump up with treble tweaked and you break out singing with it like you can sing but you don’t care because you can feel the song to the depths of your soul Love to know who wrote it and hear the story behind it
yo bro I was lucky enough to discover this song last year driving in Miami Beach on a perfect Sunday night windows down on the 80s satellite channel in my rental car. song of the year to me!
In a podcast interview, Danko Jones was at one of these industry things, might been on a cruise ship. A man approached him and said "Hey I used to be in a band", Danko thinking yeah whatever, the guy said "It was Sheriff" said Fred Curci. Danko Jones was starstruck. He's a big fan and was shocked because he didn't recognize him.
No I remember this hit made a comeback in the early 90s, but it was placed on the American billboard charts. Otherwise, my friends and I weren’t even raving about it back in high school. At that time, Sheriff was no more, because Alias had formed.
Does this song have the record for longest time to hit #1 on the Hot 100 after its initial release (6 years) or is that even a record? This song is definitely a curious case in pop music in my opinion
They look so different now. It's wonderful to hear their story about "When I'm With You" and Sheriff. The 80s were a confused decade polarized between a lot of the greatest pop/rock and a lot of the worst new wave and synth pop. You could almost always tell what the pop/rock bands were gonna be my rule of thumb with 80s bands is never by an album by ABC or Culture Club!
