Best review ever Rachel! Thank you for making the pedal functions a little more clearer to understand. Peace 🕶️✌️

Glad to be of help and yes, this really is a cracking little cheap pedal.

Thanks Rachel, and glad you are fully recovered. I’d like to say I appreciate that you show gear which is probably affordable to most. Anything you enjoy and really get into can drain your pocket. So it’s very nice to hear and see so e of the things we can get without going broke. 😊

Yes, all better, Thanks Loree, took antibiotics in the end! I much prefer cheaper equipment for exactly the reasons you state. This defeitly helps the Pee Wee tone - just sayin! ;-)

I bought this based off your video the other day for Christmas gifts. I’m excited to use it on my solid state Kustom late 60’s amp.

Hope you enjoy it and you are having fun. I've just got the acoustic version but haven't had much chance to play with it yet.

Great review and test! BDI 21 with Zoom B1on package just arrived yesterday, haven't tried these yet but I'm getting hyped by reviews here and there like yours. Also, thank you for being passionate about music and playing wonderful instruments, we definitely need way more musician women in music industry. By the way, guitar is my primary instrument but I play bass guitar once in a while and as long as it sounds Lemmy Kilmister ish or Cliff Burton ish therefore very distorted then I'm always happy

Hi, Thanks for doing this. I bought a BDI21 ages ago and it's been stuck at the bottom of my 'bits box' for ages doing nothing. I recently built a small pedal board for my solid body bass uke but wasn't too happy with the sound I was getting. I swapped out the compressor I was using a put in the BDI21 - fantastic! Much better sound. Just for info I'm using an Ashbury solid body Ubass into a Roland Cube 30 bass amp. Works a treat. Regards, Doug

Glad I could help Doug, yes it's a great, cheap way of improving the tone. Never played an Ashbury but I'm sure it would sound VERY cool.

Hi, I want to thank you so much for this video. I found it extremely informative and useful. I have a sansome which needs fixing and am looking at an alternative if I can't get it fixed. I am also a fan of your playing, wonderful feel and musicianship. Thanks again and keep up the great work with your content. All the best , Steve Walters 🎸

As always thanks for a great review Rachel! I need a DI box for recording, or at least I think I do, especially my passive bass guitar. For the price it's well worth trying it out 😊

Thanks Maria. Yes, I think this pedal is great, especially for passive instruments and also yes, for the price.

Great review, thank you!! I own the same pedal and have been loving it, but never tried to understand what "Presence" & "Blend" mean 😅
@UkuleleWales
@UkuleleWales 8 месяцев назад
Thanks. Yes, I agree, it is a great pedal and without checking the instructions I’m never sure about the presence although *! Think* the blend is the amount going into the overall mix - actually I probably need to check the instructions again! LOL 😂

Top video, again - thanks so much for your time making theese. Fan request.... I love the tone of your strings. Now I might have this totally wrong but..... I have an Ashbory 1990 fretless. I bought it 2nd hand, and it came stringed with (I believe) a new set of Aquila thunder black strings. I heard the original ashbory strings were not good (prone to breaking), and these were a reasonable upgrade so I am happy to have them at the moment. However, I forget where, but I also read the strings I have are not as good tone as the original strings, but more durable as the original strings are prone to snapping. I also read that people used talcum powder on the original ashbory strings due to the stickiness o the matierial. I don't want to handle talcum powder, not going to. But with the aquila strings I have not felt need to use talcum powder, I got used to the weirdness of the feel. However, I am all about getting as close to the tone of a double bass as I can with a short scale bass. I think your strings have an edge on mine, or is it all in the amp tone? Wouldn't it be good if we had a comparison video :)
@UkuleleWales
@UkuleleWales 2 года назад
Thanks for the great comment and opinion. I know of the Ashbory basses but never actually played one, although I was facinated by them when they first cam out - way before my uke days! Honest answer is, I'd be interested to know which strings work best on it but can't really advise. Like you, I hate sticky and also hate using talcum powder. I have done a comparison of 3 of the Aquilar strings (link below) but it might be worth you looking at the Thunderbrowns as they have a very slight texture and I found these sounding and playing like an upright.

Absolutely fascinating, Rach! Now, of course, I have many burning questions! It may be me engaging in wishful thinking, but I wonder if I can eliminate some of the string noise inherent in the roundwounds coming through the peizo pickup? I feel that the annoying squeak is much more prominent on my electro-acoustic Journeyman than on your Nic West solid body, but maybe the pedal would help? (On my PJ amp, I need to turn the treble way down and reduce the input to get rid of some of it. Not optimal, but necessary.) Oh, and do you miss having a "mid" EQ option on the pedal? In general, I really like the sound of the tube emulation! I'm considering....🤔hmm
@UkuleleWales
@UkuleleWales 2 года назад
Definitely worth considering. It does sound different with the roundwounds and I'm fining can be very "trebly" with it too so maybe it could well help. I do tend to prefer more bass eq than treble anyway, what's the EQ set at on the Journeyman? Not really missing the mids but I am intending to add it to the board which has got an EQ pedal so....... Yes, loving the "Tube" emulator - speaking of which, how is the Fender doing?

What settings would you recommend on the BDI 21 if I want to emulate the sound of a double-bass on my bass ukulele?
@UkuleleWales
@UkuleleWales 2 года назад
Hi, it's difficult to be exact but I'd say more bass and less high. Bot too much gain s you'd have to out the level higher. I will try and look at this soon as it's on my list as there are other things that can help get the d bass sound too, especially strings etc.

Hi Eileen, YES, it really makes the Fanner sound awesome. I use it in the review of the Fanner Pee Wee, I also used the pedal for my recent shorts video 7 basses and the recent Bass basics video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KR67uCwO7O4.html

Behringer initially got a bad rap for their amplifiers. I can testify, I had a BXL3000 bass combo that was a muddy mess and gave me the smoke I don't want within 4 months of ownership. Genuinely awful. Then there was the pedal knock offs. Everyone forgot that literally every company out there has a clone of something. Nowadays, Behringer seems to be a good option.
@UkuleleWales
@UkuleleWales 7 месяцев назад
Yes, a long time ago Behringer’s quality control was not as good but what I find interesting is that Behringer have always made many of the parts and components that go into more well known brands. 👍

Mr Behringer was a Swedish man so it is pronounced Beh-ringer not Berrinjer.

You speak of Behringer being a “Chinese” company, and it’s true, their products are made there. But the company is the brainchild of German designer Uli Behringer, so you had the pronunciation correct to begin with.

obviously rubber strings makes no difference unless you have the hearing of a dog cos they are rubber, can only ask why, get real Bass with real strings !!
@UkuleleWales
@UkuleleWales Год назад
Hi, I use pedals with both metal and rubber strings and can definitely hear the difference with both. The most difference is with full metal strings and magnetic pick ups but even with these basses with piezo pick ups an both metal and rubber strings there really is a difference.
