Great to see the love for the Deepmind 12. It was my first real analog synth and I learned a lot with it. The sounds you can get out of it are simply sublime!
can I ask if you would recommend this over the poly d or 2600if you've had a chance to play one I'm having a hard time deciding which one to get I'd like all 3 one day but I live off disability and have to save for a while I have minilogue I'm ambient prog rock multi instrumentalist 1man band and im tryin to complete my dream set up would love your opinion not scared to need presets I'm a knob turner
@@jonathanfrieze8497 I have not played the Poly D or 2600 so I can only go off of what I have seen on RU-vid. Out of the 3 (DM, Poly D, 2600), I would say that the Deepmind is the most versatile though and probably the most bang for your buck. The Poly D and 2600 are probably going to be better for those super fat bass sounds but they aren't going to do huge chords or pads as well as the DM. Hard choice man, I'm sorry I don't have a better answer.
i'm a juno 106 and 60 owner but i can't believe how incridible the deepmind sounds. so i bought one and i cant stop listen to this synth. the effect section is second 2 none. with an audio input the DM12 would be the ultimate poly synth. just love ....and its solid like a tank, too!
I have this keyoard. This has two choruses, one generic and a roland dimension D type. Use the normal one, play with L/R depth and delay, put it at ~75/100% and you got a good setting 1/2 juno chorus which is actually less noisy which is good. The chorus is wat convinced me to buy since I am a huge juno fan myself
I've had my eye on this Synth since January this year. I ordered on on Saturday morning ' yesterday '. It arrived less than 24 hours later!!!!! That is incredible customer service Andertons!! It came a day or so early.... Thank you so much!!
I got the 6 a while back and it's incredible. Just been away in the isolation of the Lake District and took it with me to explore and it's so DEEP - much more than just a 106 with extra modulation, and definitely going to be coming out with me when I start gigging again.
@@hafstrat Does it actually work? The app hasn't been updated in 3 years and I read in reviews that it's practically unusable now. If it's working for you can you say what ipad you have and what ios? I might buy a cheap older ipad to use it.
@@JayaLove I used a very old iPad resurrected just for the DM12. and I never switched the synth on without connecting via Bluetooth to the app. So much easier to see and access presets and particularly the effects with a fab gui.
I added the Wavestate with MIDI to the DM12, they both send and receive MIDI program changes perfectly, i.e. 1 to 64, the set list on the Wavestate. This way, I can try different sounds 1 to 64 on the DM12, just by changing the Banks.
Brilliant. Loved this. I am a bass player and vocalist. Wanting to get into some music production sound design. I have a Linnstrument 200. Seems the Module version of this would be AMAZING! Great share thanks!
The Deepmind should be a new Juno 60, but the effects are the main part that makes the sound of the Deepmind. The Juno part is only the start of the sounds.
Here for both videos! Front row seats. 🍿 Wonder if that that fan noise is present on the module version. I’ll find out late June when mine arrives. Cheers.
Not trying to gripe but what's with the high pitched whine in the vid? Is that coming from the Deepmind? It's not affected by the filter cutoff, but goes away every time the audio in the video prioritizes Jack's lav mic. I'm really tempted by the Deepmind but am a bit wary of a budget poly synth for those types of issues.
There is some ground hum on the deepmind, I find it easy to EQ out, but it certainly exists. Mike got much better when I turned off the dimming LED's on the pitch and mod wheels.
This. I was convinced something was wrong with some component of my setup because it doesn't sound at all like what I'm hearing in the video. Would you please share what, if anything you did to adjust the patch?
Dear Andertons, now you're a Behringer Super Dealer as of 2021, we would 'appreciate' if you redid a review of the Deepmind 12 where everything makes sense all of a sudden. An epiphany if you will. Greetings, (your hopefully continuing partner), Behringer. It has great possibilities though, I agree. Too bad about the free running oscillators in unison mode and the filter being a tad too bright too quickly. But especially for the money a great instrument.
I'm considering buying the Deepmind 12. How much of a learning curve is there? I'm hoping to avoid a lot of deep diving in the menus. Is it easy enough to learn? I'm just getting back into synths after many years away. Not an expert by any means. Thanks for any helpful insight.
cant thank you enough for making this one.... its quite a steep learning curve when your a synth noob. you get a synth thinking "ill just press some buttons and cool noises will come out" but no..... its not like that, you have to do a bit of work
@@jimmyrade7815 I have the deep mind desktop actually....I’m low key bumming they have the blue Marvin 2600s in stock but they’re like $200 more than the US and nobody else has them at the moment.
Fun review! I HATE screen diving synths, but as you play this, you S l o W L Y get used to reading the screen to modulate it. An amazing synth for the price-point. You will not find this high of a quality synth in the near future, I guarantee. Bought mine 2 years ago that was a one week gig instrument, which might as well have been labeled as "brand new" for $630 USD. You may be able to get them now for a few hundred more. Cheers.
In the mod matrix, just keep down the 'MOD' button and move the slider of whatever you need and it'll instantly select it. So much easier than searching with the wheel.
No question it’s the best value. I got a bum unit with patch problems that left a sour taste in my mouth, but I’ve seen many great demos like Jack’s that leaves me thinking I should get one to use for live gigs and leave my Juno 106 at home.
i almost bought the Deepmind 12, but went with the Prophet REV2 with 8 Voices and do not regret it, a great synth.... I know the Deepmind should be a clone of the Juno, but i don't like that there are only 2 Oscillators with only 3 Waveforms.
Love the fact that Jack can talk for 20 minutes without the need for cuts in the edit, and play like a true demon. That outro needs to be played at full volume on a decent set of headphones / speakers - awesome!
Not going to lie, Jack does my head in but his enthusiasm is endearing enough to see past that and appreciate the great content. He's kind of like that really annoying school friend that for some reason you can't do without
Luvvin it! Unfortunately had to sell my DeemMind 6 simply due to the weight. I loved it, but it wasn't suited for quick gigging. Basically it's a modern Juno 106/60 - and more. Highly recommend it :-)
ordered mine - but there's none in stock! -- apart from the one Jack is using .... There's quite a few DM12 videos recently on this channel - have you ordered a boat-load or something?
I have my new Deep Mind 12 in the box F home, waiting for the end of work to have a go. First Synth... from watching your videos. I love them. So many other videos have tech dudes who don't seem to play keyboard very well. Cheers man.
Nice one 👍🏼... it's obvious, what the Deepmind 12 is capable of - great synth. Don't overdo the Mod Matrix and the Effects and you're ready to go for some real fun 😊. I think I'll have a desktop version in the very near future. A new brother for my Pro1 and my TD3 😍
Hey Jack how are you doing? Healthy and doing good? You're almost selling me the Nord Electro 6d when I gather the money haha. Awesome videos man looking forward to more lessons :D cheers
12 X OSC 1&2 ??? .... are you saying that the DeeMind 12 is Multi-Timbrel ??? ....Because if it is, then i am getting the 12 D. i mean i just assumed 12 was the Polyphony ... probably the case.
Makes me re-think about DM12 today! I'll buy Pro-800 soon but I'm not going to sell DM12. Unless something global and cooler will become... IDK, like Poly-Neutron with a similar UI including the same (or better) FX-block. It will be mind blowing ))
Yeah I have one of those too, only 8 voices in it for now but that`s still very good if you make or only want 1 traditional layer voice patches at a time. The only thing that let`s it down is only having 1 FX on a layer at once which is not enough for anything pad or soundscape like and so I bought and made a chain of decent stereo TC FX pedals to get around that even though they cost me about another £450
You can get amazing sounds out of it without deep diving in. Classic Roland Juno sounds are possible without touching a single menu button. The real fun is when you start exploring the mod matrix and deeper settings. Best part is the menu system is set up in a way that it doesn't feel like you're menu diving to access those parameters. Behringer need to quit putting 100% of their time into clone synths and make something else like this because it is amazing. Maybe throw 20% of your amazing synth division into an original. They certainly have the money to do it.
unison mode ... that's like the OB-8, ( first time i played something that did unison ) that's worth the loss of polyphony, in such the case ( yeah, i know it's not multi-timbrel )
a good way to look at this synth is like a Juno 106 on steroids...This synth is absolutely amazing....for an additional $200 for a used ipad or like me I had an old one laying around u get a giant touch screen with all parameters available to u (way nicer than any other synths integrated touch screen)
Remember when the DeepMind12 was going to have augmented reality and android app access? Do you think the will fulfill their Holocene promise from years ago? Still, we love our unit. Even can integrate it with clock into our Eurorack setup … very special synth!!!
Thanks once again. I get more out of your videos than from any tutorial video or so called "Demo" videos. If I become a synth master, it'll all be because of you. Thanks!
Love everything about my Deepmind 12d except...the iPad app/wireless has completely stopped working for me. I've tried everything possible to get it working again and it just will not connect. The other problem is that Behringer support is literally non-existent as far as I can tell.
I've had one for about two years now. but i have to say, i've been kind of struggling with it and only recently started to actually like it. It had a bunch of technical issues with the power supply early on (though most of them have been resolved by support by now) but the main thing is, i never really clicked with it. It has about every feature you could think of, but there are some odd things about it. Yu can't for instance overdrive the VCA, something i did not expect from an analog synth. And i've always found it so strange that with this amazing mod matrix, they didn't think to use the oscillators as modulation sources. But some things are really amazing. Just about every parameter can be a modulation destination, the envelopes are hands down the best i have ever used on any synth ever and i would completely trust it as a main touring synth, if that ever becomes a thing again. i've poured a beer into the keybed of mine during a show once, there wasn't a problem at all, i was able to finish the show and just clean it afterwards. Other than the Rev2, it's probably the best non-flagship synth you can buy right now
I bought a Polybrute two weeks ago and have owned the Deepmind 12 for about 4 years. Hands down the Deepmind is a great synth, a classic and always ends up somewhere in the mix.
@@eleven9286 you are actually allowed to own more than one synth these days, you are also allwed to compare them to. my point is you can have a synth that costs 3-4 times more than a Deepmind and the Deepmind still holds its own ground agaianst it. No need to be judgemental. Happy synthing.
Love seeing you along your synth deep dive journey! Would love to see a video on different options for keyboard amplification options. Looking at monitors, amp, and powered PAs, pros and cons of each. Mono verse stereo and all that! Would be awesome to get your take on it!
I’ve been looking at this Synth for about a year now, this video convinced me it was a Must Have! Mine just arrived a few days ago and I can’t keep myself away from it. A fantastic addition to my Home Music Production Studio. Thanks for putting this and your other videos on the DM12 out there.
Vindication! This synth gets powered on EVERY day. Its a gem and you would be crazy not to drop $800.00 for an analog Poly (12 voices) that sounds this fantastic and was frankly way ahead of its time. It partners gloriously with Sequential boards, and the atmospheric sounds (enhanced by a world-class effects section) are unbelievable. Jack's reaction says it all... When Behringer eventually drops the DM12 successor--look out.
Nice video man! I have a couple of synths and workstations. Was an owner of the Andromeda A6, but never got any decent sounds out of it. So I’m convinced now, after your video, to buy a Deepmind 12.
That first preset you played knocked my socks off! Wow! Thanks for the video. I'm pretty sure this is my next synth. I need to go self some stuff now. LOL
I have had mine for awhile and have to say that I am looking at it with "fresh eyes"...thanks Jack. Awesome video as always...and you really need to get a sponsorship from Subway!
