You reviewed the Mono/Poly properly, thank you - and I just bought one. I used to own the real Korg version, and my favorite thing about it was how very raw it sounded, so I’m excited to receive it. I have Korg’s Apple version and their VST in Ableton, which are an improvement in that you can save settings and expand on the sounds - but the virtual synths lack the immediacy of the physical synth because of the limited number of assignable knobs. I miss the tactile sense and exploration of the knobs and switches, and the presence of it in the room. I hope the USB connection enables it to control the virtual synths as well, because that could be a wild experience ☕️
Received it today - it’s ASTONISHING! It’s built like a tank - It definitely feels heavier than the original, which I wasn’t expecting. The virtual synths don’t compare to the creative environment this gives you, and Behringer nailed it. I got my old friend back ☕️
Great video. The song snippet you started at about 6:40 is solely responsible for my current MonoPoly GAS! I have always liked the sound but am turned off by the lack of preset memory. I have enough synths without patch memory and it is very limiting for the way I work. The sounds you use in that tune are just amazing!
Hi - Great review 👍 You have a lot of gear. What is the key bed like? I've only had a play on the Poly D and that key bed seemed a bit plasticy, definitely not a Fatar. I think even the keys on the Wavestate etc might be better or at least comparible.
Behringer haters remind me of Mary Whitehouse - she spent all her time watching TV shows she knew would offend her just so she could complain about them. It never occurred to her to spend her time in a less futile endeavour.
I don't consider myself a Behringer hater. I can't understand many of their decisions and products. I don't have to. The MonoPoly was the first synthesizer that interested me and I liked it.
@@knobsswitches just to clarify that I wasn't saying that you are a Behringer hater - it was a comment on the folks who seem to search for videos like yours so they can air their opinions instead of watching videos they might find enjoyable. They assume that anyone who buys a Behringer product must be a fanboy rather than someone who simply saw a synth that met their needs and bought it. It's a pity I don't have room for this synth - you got some great sounds out of it in this video!

The original is a real great weirdo. I've had it three times now. As usual the Beh version lacks all the character and sounds exactly like all of their other synths just with different features and a different paint job.
That's interesting to hear. A friend of mine also wrote me that his original Korg MonoPoly sounded different from the Behringer in my video. I can't comment on the Behringer sound in general, as I've never had a Behringer synth and this was the first one I was interested in. Maybe it's time to borrow a Korg MP ;-)
I have seen several videos of the Korg Monopoly and I think the Behringer sound with the same character. I think you may be wrong, specially if you say the Monopoly sounds the same than the rest of their synths because that’s simply not correct. I own a Poly D, Monopoly, Odyssey and VC340 and all of them sound very different each other.
@@Donetur compressed RU-vid sound comparison is a joke. I’ve owned maybe 6 Beh synths and none of them had any character. They all had the same ultra generic new analog sound.
@@VincentPresley It is not exactly a joke in this context, because you can perceive the character of a synth via seeing/listening a RU-vid video. There is a reason why everybody checks RU-vid videos before buying, so that’s kinda a myth to me, blaming to the RU-vid compression to justify an statement about how a synth sounds. Actually the difference of a file before and after RU-vid doesn’t change the character of the sound of the file, I have uploaded several files in my channels, I know how they sound in high quality and in RU-vid, and if somebody tries to convince me that the audio is almost radically different, sorry but I disagree with that, as you still can perceive the character and sound quality of an instrument. Which Behringer synths have you owned exactly?. I can confirm the synths I listed have their own character, and each one sound very different than the other so your first statement is not correct.
