This guy... can take a single unit. No FX. No sneaky MIDI. And make it SING! If you like this you have to catch his acid live set with the RD-6 and the TD-3. That is also pure class. Kudos my dude. Behringer should have this guy on the payroll.

IDK, never thought I'd say this, but go listen to the "Roland TR-8S Berlin Sessions Steffi". Maybe it's a question of dry vs compressed, but the TR-8S sounds really good, and it's more reliable box MIDI wise that doesn't need tons of analog inputs to record.
@@marike1100 You don't need lots of outputs to record the RD-8; using the individual outputs is optional. The simple fx built in are (to my ear) a bit feeble and imprecise, but if you connect it up to the usual filter chains you would for other drum machines, the awesomeness of the RD-8 is clear. Roland gave the world the 808. Behringer gave it to the people.
@@marike1100 Those Berlin sessions are amazing. They really highlight what a strong bit of gear the TR-8S and is a nice counterpoint to the analog RD-8. The fact one can affordably have BOTH is pretty awesome all its own.
@@marike1100 apples and oranges, Steffi is playing a pre programmed set/song using melodies and I think even a syncussion, she could have made 90% in ableton and then just unload stuff to the sample slots, you could do the exact same set on a Digitakt for that matter or even an MPC. But this experience is something you only get with this machine, and seems pretty fun!

Fifty Cycle, I agree. Funny thing about chord progressions: there‘s not a single one in this jam, yet I‘d call it good music. James Brown‘s hits weren‘t too strong on chord progressions either. But I DO agree with you! 😃
this performance is absolutely mind-blowing! you ride the rd-8 like a rocket .. didn't think one can use just a drum machine as a solo instrument .. but this performance would set any dance floor on fire 🔥

I take your point but the _like a rocket_ simile is way off compared to my own rocket riding experience which was more of a _Oh, shhhhh.....ttt! I'm gonna die !_ kinda thing.
It's amazing how you've basically put together a whole set on just this thing. That build up and breakdown at about 26:30 was a highlight, so so good. This machine is now at the top of my list thanks to you.
Whoa now I wouldn't lump Jomox or Moog into the same category here. Moog doesn't do drum machines at all, and while Jomox is expensive, they're a boutique shop and are legitimately innovating. What Behringer did here is basically the exact opposite end of the spectrum from Jomox and is only feasible because of Behringer's massive resources and production scale. There's simply no way Jomox or Moog COULD do what Behringer is doing, even if they were *trying* to go bankrupt in the process.

i have one stupid question about the behringer rd 8 !!! why , when i put the headfones in and put the filters on , i has not a effect on it , only on the main out , when i put my headphones in the main out in it play with effects , but not on the heatphone out !!?? why is that , all other drum mashines do !! why this mashine can not do that on the heAD PHONE OUT ?
there’s a lot of 90s techno and house, much acid and chicago stuff, some dub techno and recently i tend to buy more krautrock, experimental electronic and ambient stuff

Gude, bin Anfänger und hab eine Frage: Der Headphones Output vom RD-8 ungeht ja die Filter. Wenn ich das Teil über den Mono-Ausgang einfach an meine Boxen anschließe und meine Kopfhörer an diese anschließe, höre ich dann den Filter? Nicer Jam übrigens, hab mir das teilweise deswegen das Ding bestellt ;)
hi, ja tatsächlich hörst du den filter, wenn du aus dem monoausgang in deine anlage gehst. die RD-8 weiß ja nicht, dass du da noch nen kopfhörer an deine anlage anschließt ;)
RD-8 sample pack. 39 minutes worth of loops and samples. Done in 39 minutes. Honestly, if you used the individual outs on that beast and multi-tracked your next jam session, you could do something like give away the split-tracks and high quality audio to Patreon supporters. Don't edit them or loop them. That way you're not investing a bunch of time into it. Just an idea that might support the channel a bit and not be a chore to do. I see the mixing desk in the background. Ahem.
