Thanks for posting! I'm here because I'm one of those with a bad Samson Sm10. 2 year warranty, right channel outputs cut in & out after 2 years and 2 days, literally!
Just in case it helps anyone: V2 has an upgraded transformer and the outputs are "impedance balanced" - a kind of cheap and easy way to balance an output :-)
Excellent review, thank you very much for answering nearly all the questions I was asking myself about this nice mixer. I will definitely order one asap since my peavey mixer isn't exactly what I needed all these years (that RX1602 was the missing piece of my really old Roland and Korg set). By the way, glad to see you own an A-880 as I do. Oldies but goldies :)
These are great. Saved me a lot of space when I found out how well they work because I was using a Mackie ProFX12 v3 as my keyboard sub-mixer. I've been sending effected signals into the 1602, but you having two made me think that with a pair it should be possible to split the inputs between them and use the sends on both out to one effects unit.
Well, after this review i own about 4 of them. They are perfect for submixing instruments in a home studio, and still do not regret buying them. The only downside is the mono fx send. Maybe it makes sense for DJ's who really use it as a monitor, but for me, it's quite useless.
@@trashgeneration what I'm thinking is that if you treat each 1602 as a mono channel strip. Split the output from a stereo keyboard.. Left to the L input of one unit, right to the L input of the other and then take the mono send from each unit to the stereo in of the effects unit. Treat one 1602 as left channel and the other as right channel. Unless there's some funky internal wiring, you should be able to use the R inputs on both 1602's for another stereo device that you want to share the same effect.
Honesty during the direct and mixer comparison, I did notice quaility loss. Could be a volume thing (which does matter alot, if you a/b somthing, gain compisation is everything) with that said, I noticed a loss in transients and presence. Kinda gave a mushy feel to the overall sound qaulity, but its very subtle. if you listen back at a low volume, you might notice it better.
Really Nice Review about this product. I have one question: How does "To Phones" button route the signals to phone jack? Will it be mixed with Main Out or just FX Send independently? I do some DJing so I need a function that seperate output between headphone CUE and main speaker. I must make sure the mixer in my need does the second way.
I have had an RFX16 (V1) in my home studio since 2008 but I have worn out some of the mute switches. I looked around for a replacement from other manufacturers but there is nothing to compare with the Behringer for simple functionality in a 1U case. Now waiting for a V2 unit to arrive from Thomann :)
Nice review. I just have the one :-) The main outs are connected to my speakers - always ready to play. How do you connect this to your audio interface to record into your DAW? Do you split this off, use the Monitor output or what?
Totally agree, these are very useful. However I have a question: Can these really be used as 16 ch mono mixers? Is it as simple as just connecting mono out from the mixer to a soundcard? I make stereo music but sources may be in mono with no issues really ;)
A review i was looking for many thanks it seems like what i need. Now if only they did a mk3 with inserts on each channel for a little bit more ££ .. just trying to find stock
I shall be using this to maintain analog signal flow in my HiFi Stereo. For reel to reel tape LIN input, do you suggest +4 or -10 ? Also any audible channel bleed ?
Great review. Anyhow, you muted the other 14 channels. I am wondering how much noise this is actually can bring.. Experience with all channels open .. ? I will mainly use it for my analog synths recording and route it to outboard HW compressors and EQ's. Thanks!
@@trashgeneration I really think that if we want to step up from a rack mixer like this we would have to jump in the 1k € + areas. Maybe even a summing mixer. Again as you well said don't believe tascams, art, or samson would make a big difference in this price range
@@mrcgeraldes I absolutely agree. I was even surprised by its performance considering the price point of this mixer. I was concerned that it would add audible noise because I saw some online reviews on webshops that the noise was terrible. On my two units, there are no such issues. Maybe they are about version 1, or they just had a bad batch, who knows.
@@trashgeneration When i see 1000 good reviews and then a couple people whining about noise, i have to imagine it's a problem with their power setup or some emf interference 🤷♂️ Great review 👍✌️
Great vid! I have a Neve summing mixer with 2 stereo outs (which on each one you can apply a different coloration) so I want to route those two balanced outs to one stereo pair L/R on my interface. Would this work with this unit? Or, any other suggestion? Im trying to figure it out...Thanks!
Hello, I have a question regarding this mixer. The Mon/FX send on the back is mono only. Hower you cab route the mon to the headphone jack. Can you tell if I get a real stereo signal when routing mon/fx to headphones? Or is it just a mono witch is played on L and R?
i was surprised when i saw only one jack for the effect send, but figured it must be a 1/4" TRS stereo jack...it is 1/4" TRS but the manual says it is balanced (MONO) NOT stereo (2 channel). the odd thing the front panel phone switch can feed the effects send out the phones jack that is 1/4" TRS but dial down the front panel effects volume and use a stereo to dual mono splitter to goto the effect and bring the effect return back into one of the channel pairs. 1/2 or better 15/16. i will be hacking my unit to turn the effect send into TRS stereo instead of balanced mono, so the send remains on the rear.
@@trashgeneration could you possibly check if the monitor send is mono, or stereo? It seems so pointless for them to make the monitor send mono, that perhaps it is in fact stereo.
I plugged in a stereo headphone into the monitor out, and unfortunately I only hear sound coming out of 1 of the ears. So I guess the product sheet is correct...
You would probably be better off just using your daw as the summing mixer than this unit. Real summing mixers tend to sound better than daw and adds flavor but this thing is more of a patch bay than anything
The RX line mixer was the only Behringer Product I got rid of in my lab in favor of a Peavey PV 14 to input all my synths plus the 8 inserts patched into a Behringer patchbay.
