Behringers are awesome and this is one great example, you can go form bluesy tones to metal ones, I liked the way you use it to remedy the sag. Great trick right there. Can't beat German technology for that price, no need to overspend to get awesome tones.

Metal with this pedal? Lol no, not if your amp is on clean. You crank this pedal you get a nice Green Day/Stevie Ray Vaughan type distortion, not metal. This is not a metal pedal
@user-lv7ph7hs7l
@user-lv7ph7hs7l 8 месяцев назад
@@leob4403 Obviously you put it in front of an amp that's already got some drive. Like most Marshalls don't have enough gain for metal. JCM 800 is one of the more used metal amps and unless cranked to max it really doesn't habe very much distortion. Also Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi ran a tube screamer and treble booster straight into his Laney and that was his sound. Iron Maiden used them too. Zakk Wylde uses OD-1 which is basically Boss' version of the TS9 with a bit more gain into a JCM 800. First time I played that amp I was confused, barely any more drive than a Plexi. Well it needs something like this. Unless of course Black Sabbath, Ozzy and Maiden don't count as metal.... Yes if you want death metal sounds you need a solid state distortion pedal like the black one by Boss. I forget the name but many use that.

@@user-lv7ph7hs7l I get what you're saying, but shouldn't a pedal always be labeled according to what it does on a clean channel though? I'm actually curious about this. Otherwise couldn't pretty much any pedal be called a metal pedal? Like you have this nice gentle reverb pedal or whatever and you put it on an amp with cranked distortion and call it a metal pedal?
@user-lv7ph7hs7l

@@leob4403 Not at all. And yes any pedal can well be used for metal, Adrian Smith used a tubescreamer, as did Iommi etc... in front of a dirty amp which is how most use it. Of course you can put it in front of a clean amp for blues etc... some are labeled because they are specifically designed for a purpose like the MT-2 or BD-2 and that's whete they would shine the most. But the BD2 is just an overdrive you can use it for metal and I have for years. So most stuff isn't really designed for a particular style and putting pedals in front of a fully clean amp is aomething that wasn't that common back in the day. These days people have huge pedal boards and use a clean amp as just an amp, to make it louder but the tone is all in the pedals. While in the 70s/80s you would generally have one or two pedals like an OD an EQ and maybe a delay and most of the tone came from the amp. And you wouldn't call a reverb pedal a metal pedal since it doesn't interact with the gain and in pedal speak metal just means very high gain. So anything that provides gain can be used for metal. Yngwie Malmsteen has an old-school DOD 250 overdrive into a Plexi and that's his sound. Most metal players don't use something specifically just made for metal like the black Boss pedal, MT2 I think. But plenty do, for the more trash/death metal type of sound, while classic metal is more a classic rock sound with some more gain. Really it's up to you and what your ears like best. If metal than I am more into Maiden, Sabbath or Priest and that sound is made with overdrive + 1959SLP or JCM800 type amps, themselves not metal at all. But responsible for some of the most iconic metal soubds out there. Appetite for Destruction was recorded with a Plexi. Later Slash went to JCM800 but still that amp with no pedals is very clean. Even fully cranked it's not a lot of gain for metal standards.

An outstanding demonstration of how a simple green box can help turn your signal into a force of nature! I generally use bluesbreaker style overdrives running into muffs; the results are molten! Really love how this sounds on bass! Great demonstration, Eric! Cheers!

The TO800 is a great little pedal. I use it at rehearsals in place of my old Maxon ST-9. Sound-wise I can't tell much of a difference tbh, plus if it broke or was stolen It's easily replaced at around £19!

I wonder how will sound the super fuzz with this od as a booster (like the example with the distortion pedal)
@EricMerrow
@EricMerrow 2 года назад
I’ve found that stacking drives & boosts into the super fuzz can make a little difference but it’s very subtle. My theory is that the super fuzz circuit is such a drastic design that there’s not much that changes the sound when stacking pedals into it

What kind of strings are You using for the bass? Looks like flatwounds, am I correct?

You have a natural talent to make these reviews, congratulations! Is it normal that I get this kind of "sag" when i turn on a fuzz that is on a chain of pedals, being these other pedals all off? This same pedal has a totally different sound when alone or with just another one for example... Do you know why this happens?
@EricMerrow
@EricMerrow 2 года назад
Your setup may be starving power from the fuzz? That’s the only thing I can think of. If it’s not getting enough power, you can get a starved fuzz sound which may be what you’re describing. How are you powering your pedals when using the fuzz with other ones?
@zosmaee
@zosmaee 2 года назад
@@EricMerrow Thanks! That's almost for sure the case (how could i miss that...?) I supply power to my pedals with a 9v power supply/transformer from where I made some kind of "homemade" extension to bring power to 4 pedals at once. Indeed I get strange sounds and noises when I use 4 pedals at once and mostly from the last pedal from the chain. And also more often from the fuzz pedal somehow, when it is not in front... anyway, I guess I will have to invest in some "normal" power supply instead of trying some broken DIY :)

Sir do you think it's worth it or should I go with boss?
@EricMerrow
@EricMerrow 2 года назад
Whether the pedal is worth it is really up to you to decide and can be determined on a few different factors. Ya'know.. if you want a "tube screamer" in that classic green box then you'll want to go the Ibanez route. If you're on a major budget, this behringer absolutely does the trick and sounds fantastic! If you're hesitant of the behringer, but still want to be budget conscious, there are many different options with a higher build quality for not much more money. The first that comes to my mind is the Blue Skreamer from Sonicake. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!
