Being a live sound engineer, this desk really stood out to me. It gives me almost studio abilities with my live sound. I bought the desk. After multiple A/B tests I sent it back. It is a n amazingly clean desk with zero preamp noise. The reverb and delays all sound amazing. The compressor and eq mods are OK. The channel strip and layout is amazing. My only real issue of the desk was the preamp sound. I have used Midas and the preamp are definatley better in the Midas. My Roland M480 preamps are far better. I don't know if it's the software that makes it sound different. But for me it doesn't capture those fine details that addds depth and feeling to the mix. It's super clean... I'll be sticking to my Roland for now until I can get a Digico.
Thx for the video. I love the option allowing to put comp, reverbs etc. directly on the channels. I would looove to see a nerdy video on the work put in, to make the mixer sound better than the X32: Better preamps? Faster processing? Better wirering? At the end of the day, sound rules.
Agreed, but they are trying to sell their “new toy”... personally I have x32,m32 - no need for a new remote control surface that isn’t even fully operating ( no app, no gain control on pro series boxes, no usb recording...etc...). Also I am very lost of the “stereo” channel feature - especially seeing led metering on a channel that may or may not be stereo... even using stereo channels on one fader sucks, especially when it comes to patch. I like 1 to 1 channel to fader numbering, because in the fray of festival patch - I don’t wanna have to think is keyboard ch 13/14 on fader 13 only, and fader 14 is really ch 15 patch... stupid.
None of the videos mention remote mixing capabalities for IEM on the 16 busses, I love the fact that any bus can now be stereo but the last thing I want to go back to (as a FOH engineer or a drummer) is having musicians yell what they want in there ears. Please tell me there will be a remote app to handle this!
i'd put a lot of money that the guy who created the mixing station app is developing (or already has) an app that could be used for remote control. and i'm sure they wouldn't abandon such useful features by not having remote phone apps..
i think you need to assign the output of each channel from your DAW to the Wing. for example in Reaper there is a hardware output in the routing where you can assign it.
I am looking this to be used in theather. How many snapshots I can save and recall? Can I recall snapshots using midi note commands from example Qlab? Or can I fire sound cues from Wing using midi notes? Can I assing soft buttons to recall save snapshots? Does the recall work in away so when I used it to recall next snapshot so I could run the show linearly and not staring the menus and select manually next snapshot? Can I use sanpshots recall for just channel mutes and not efecting any other parameters faders etc? Many thanks in advance
It works great until the touchscreen starts giving you problems and start “ghosting” itself. Basically the touchscreen gets defective and starts moving faders and pressing buttons in the touchscreen by itself. Be aware!! Trying to sell this mixer as soon as possible.
Tbh I think it's a good move, a lot of people were using remote stageboxes anyway, and it may well have come in at a lower price point as a result of having fewer preamps onboard which a lot of users would never use anyway. Just consider a s32 as part of the cost of the desk, it still comes in at an attractive price point, and gives you choice how many preamps you want and how much you want to spend!
I was told you can hook 2 wings boards up on the same snake and have 1 for FOH and 2nd board for Broadcast...totally diff mix for and setup for each?..TRUE...and how would setup look..
James Parish Yes that is true.... as long as your stage box has an AES A and AES B ethernet output.... you can send each ethernet cable to each mixer and have independent control
You can also route all stageboxes into the aes50 a on the desk, then take the b port to connect to another desk and send all the channels to the other desk that way
really hoping they come out with a rack version of this Wing product, just can't bring myself to spend a bunch of money on the x32 rack that's now 8-9 years old..
Is there a wat to split input sources to let's say X32 for a separate mix of the same source? What I mean is, if Wing is my mainboard and I Have X32 which I want to use to mix to let's say my RU-vid Streaming, is there a way I can get my inputs on Wing duplicated to X32 where whatever is done on Wing doesn't affect my dupes on X32 so I can do a separate mix on X32 going to my online streaming? Can I even achieve this with X32 if I don't have Wing?
That is correct, you can do it with x32 or wing. Just go to routing and then aes50b (or c on the wing) and you can choose your inputs to go out of the spare aes50 port and then bring them into the second mixer. If you have spare channels on your x32 you could bring the same input to two channels and process them separately
@@Will-xk4nm I don't mean to be a pain in the rear end,but I use an IZ Radar recorder, not Pro-Tools. If I've used all 24 tracks (which i normally do),what do I do then if there are only 24 faders? Do I assign two tracks to each fader so I have a few spare faders?
I had a play with this the other day, its a nightmare. Very complicated. If you had time and patience to really learn it (and not from the manual, its shocking), it might be ok. But no chance a new engineer could sit in on a session and immediately get whats going on. I'd go for the PreSonus Studiolive, they're a lot cheaper and much easier to work on.
Stay with you console midas m32 is even better then this I own a allen & heath GLD 112 i was about to switch to this but no i can wait for a dlive or digico s21
exactly thought , it looks very cool, but when i see all videos about this console it fuckes me up how to do ......what ever, i dont get thew logical way on this console ...I would say German Over engineering. and no body talks about sound, and the graphic on the display looks ridiculous
