I've used the SX for years for (live) theatre and I really like it. The 100mm faders make a big difference. Regarding assigning channels to the subgroup you can do subgroup-to-mix, so it's not limited to pushing the subgroup to independent outputs as the video implies. Subgroup is great for things like drums where you want to "collect together" the mics for kick, overhead, toms, snare etc and then use the subgroup to control the overall level of that collection of mics rather than needing to adjust each separate channel. In my case I often used to group my stage mics into the subgroup. There are 3 AUXes (as shown in the video), one is PRE, one is POST and the other is switchable PRE/POST. I used to use two of the AUXes for backstage and stage foldback and the POST AUX for send to an external reverb unit (return to a stereo channel). I'd often use the channel inserts for external compressor or noise gate. OK these days I use an X32 digital board, but prior I used the SX for 10 years and was very pleased with it and never had any issues (even with the mildly-infamous power jack).

It was an awesome mixer but the power adapter burned up. As of now I cannot compare it to other devices but they would not add direct outputs for high-end multitrack recording and use cheap preamps.

A caveat on the Behringer auxes/onboard fx, one can bypass it by plugging any cable into its send and via footswitch as well! (I have the x2442usb and mine has both aux and fx out on Aux 3 on separate jacks. I can use external fx and EQ the onboard fx on a spare channel...). That being said, what are your thoughts on upgrading from the xenyx 2442 to a Spirit Folio? I'm pretty much overgrowing it quality-wise, have no other mic pres and never used any soundcraft personally... Cheers from Brazil!

I like my Soundcraft and Berhinger boards but it does not hurt to look at other brands. I should have a video about the auxiliary sends soon.

@@emanuelluchi3137 I don't know the model number of the power supply but that is the problem with 3rd party power supplies. They are very hard to replace. My power supply burnt up about a year ago. The audio board is now useless. It was a good audio board 20 years ago.

Im filming a video for a band who uses this board the soundcraft. Does anyone know if I can plug in an external recorder or plug in my MacBook to record the audio from the mixer then film the video and use an external mic plugged into my camera. Thanks in advance you awesome people.

You can get adapters to get the main feed or even the sub outs into any computer. Eight of the channels have direct outputs so you can record into a multi track recorder of your choice.

I have not looked at mixer in a long time. That being said it would be hard to recommend an audio mixer since I don't know what you intend to use if for.

Would you need a power amp to run sound from these power boards? I just bought the soundcraft

You can use head[phones. I used to have a 2400 watt power amp and a set of speakers with a 12" woofer and 12" horn. It worked great for open mic night. The power supply for my Soundcraft audio board croaked.
