Im genuinely taking notes from TJ's ability to wrangle extremely attention deficit alley cats into some semblance of a cohesive conversation. I love y'all
Being able to acknowledge it has a certain value, but that's about it. The way Jordan is using it is just selective nihilism. There's no real justification for when it matters and when it doesn't.
it's only a waste of time if you find no meaning or value in discussing or trying to understand it. so it's not a waste of time for anyone who does find that value. your subjective laziness is not an objective truth about the value of it, though.
TJ Miller gave me handfuls of weed at the American Comedy club, and all I had was my hoodie pocket. Walking around San Diego with a kangaroo pouch full of weed from TJ was the best ending possible after his killer set PS - TJ makes thee best peanut butter!!!
Love you 2 !!!! For the love of god why hasn't Jordan been on are you garbage yet!?! She needs her episode then Ian and Jordan should go on there together and get asked AYG questions about their friendship. Thanks for the nonstop laughs! You two are great slingers of dopamine 👏🏼
I think it's because we all know what the outcome will be. We don't need a pod to confirm she's garbage 😂 Nahh but that will be a good episode. It will 100% happen soon.
@@ashleyromero5302yeah, he has a bum brain that has caused him some issues. I judged the crap out of him before I knew that. I got a lot of sympathy for the dude since I found out.
To still be debating the title is ridiculous. Long time followers know that Jordan was non-committal and was supposed to be co-hosting every other episode.
4:48 You guys are talking about Killers of the Flower Moon and Jew stuff. Well the screenplay was written by Eric Roth who happens to be extremely Jewish, so guaranteed, that's where that came from.
Jordan you have all this "knowledge" on how life works....yet your still depressed and takin kpins. Ive been there. Logicing your way thru life wont work.
😂 I used to be in some of those chanting groups . Nam myo ho renge kyo . Great people, It brought alo of positivity to my life...until it started getting real cultish. Now i just do it sometimes at home lol.
The part of the free will conversation that causes frustration is that those who do not believe in free will take the most pompous, condescending approach with this bizarre self-righteous explanation, which as its very core is nothing more than a philosophy. Looking into both sides and not really having a preference, the human race has barely scratched the surface of understanding how the human mind even transmits data through synaptic connections, so all of the jargon around free will purely one theory against another.
In March 2022, when Shane Gillis performed in Edmonton, there was an audience member whose appearance looked uncanny to Ian. From the moustache to the hat. The wild thing is, the guy did not know who Ian was. When I first spotted him that night, I wholeheartedly believed Ian was in Edmonton at a Shane Gillis show. My whole point is: Ian has to come up here sometime to perform and visit his legitimate twin.
So glad TJ pointed out Jordan's fallacy! Her and Kyle clung to Sam Harris' belief and called it fact and then said they didn't believe in fate/determinism 😂 I believe we have free will in our choices, and some people execute their free will more than others, but yes our experiences beyond our control have informed our decisions and will continue to, but we have the choice on the micro.
I saw Jordan on my birthday last year at a comedy club and I’m so glad I did she’s so freaking hilarious the best that night and one of the only remake comic I love ❤❤
I think the fact that we do or don't question whether or not we have free whether or not we have free will suggests that we do. Love watching the interactions of Ian and Jordan's very cool friendship
Scarf bit is legendary, the comics hate The Laugh Factory for recording them and posting it without their consent. But I've found so many of my favorite comics from their laugh factory clips. Bit is called "Proceeding Hairline" on their youtube.
TJ Miller is the glue that made Silicon Valley good, the funny relief in Cloverfield and Deadpool. He was great in Our Idiot Brother and She's Out of my League, two underrated movies. He is also a part of one of the funniest Legion of Skanks stories when Harrington unplugged his pinball machine. I love the dude and I'm glad you two mongs had him on!
Jordan, you don't need a god or any being 'knowing' what destiny is for determinism to exist. You're losing on the semantics of it. You do believe in determinism and the argument for it is the exact one you make for why you don't believe in free-will. Just because we aren't currently (and maybe never) able to know all the variables and do the calculations, a rational non-supernatural universe (which you and i both believe we live in) is by definition deterministic. Choice is an illusion but the nature of our consciousness builds that illusion in. We cannot escape it and only by achieving some sort of sentience without consciousness would it even be possible. If you "choose" to believe or not isn't up to you and was likely decided at the moment of the Big Bang (or sooner, if events occurred before this current existence of time).
01:10:00 what I would tell Jordan "It's like a Roast..you know when the heat is too much, you know when to back off, you know when it's ready to pull...it just comes out of inspiration"
Another great one! "Laconic" refers to the city of Laconia, the capitol city of the Spartans; famed for their economy of words. Sort of vlike Jordan when Ian is on one...
Always a great show...unless the invited guest yammers endlessly about their life in the comedy biz (water cooler small talk). Did TJ Miller think we'd care about his deep takes on being a career comedian?
Ian, you keep getting caught up with the illusion of choice. Choice exists, but not how you or others understand it. It exists as an expression identifying certain experiences, not as a word identifying some power to act outside all the fores compelling you. There is no humunculus or second way of being sorting through your life. Thinking there is, is still a matter-in-motion process. The easiest way to think about free will is that we are simply passive narrators. But here's the thing: there being no free will doesn't nessesitate anything. It doesn't mean you will have an existential crisis or that your life will fall apart. It doesnt even mean you won't talk or act as if there is free will. The universe will continue on, regardless of how you see it.
1:10:32 I side with Jordan on this whole discussion. Just because you've been driven around your whole life up to a certain point by your parents doesn't mean that when you drive by yourself as an adult, it's all just magically predetermined when you're the sole person behind the wheel deciding where to go.
It's sooo odd how I'm not connecting with TJ Miller. I can't follow him; my attention wanders away when he speaks (it feels like he talks for ages about nothing), and I don't find him funny at all. He sure is a cool dude, we just exist in different realms I guess. Peace
Collapsable helmet sounds like some Temu shit that will collapse your skull in a wreck. You might as well duct tape some cardboard together. At least you can get your brain soup in one place when it doesnt work.
the show is NOT too big to change the name and it should be Bein Jordan with Ian or the Adderall Hour and if the theme song isn't changed I'm never listening again
