Being a clown in 2018: ‘We may be down, but we're not out’ 

Clowns deserve more respect. Yeah, yeah, we all have fun with scary clowns in movies, but most clowns are just looking to entertain children.

Sitting here in my office thinking "damn it I want to be a clown."

I really hope that one day the real clowns will make a comeback. Not the horror-themed mockery of the concept that runs so rampant now days. I mean the kind that brings back some joy and innocence to the world, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant. We really need that now more than ever I think.

Gosh I love clowns. I used to have this weird aversion simply due to the idea of the white facepaint. I have autism spectrum disorder and sticky stuff on my skin always was an issue for me, sensory-wise. Even seeing it on other people set me off, like as a kid and when I saw other kids put little stickers on their face I would physically recoil. But I’ve gotten a lot better about sensory stuff, really going headfirst. And now that I’ve gotten over the makeup, and the idea of what it feels like to wear the makeup (and that practically no one uses greasepaint anymore) it helps a lot.

Clowns are not scary. It's just those people who doesn't have anything to do with their lives that makes everything complicated. I hate those people who uses clowns to do bad things and tarnishing the names of the professional ones who just want to make people happy with their job as clowns :(
