For an introvert (referring to Lily) you got her to talk a lot! Which for a podcast is a good thing, of course 😅 You must be already best friends! So much fun interaction! Please make her a regular!

@ross_nekochan

@misubi I guess because in her school there were mostly half American kids so she got used to their accent and eventually she got it too, as well as the energy and attitude.

I'm also ballet trained and tried to do Japanese dance in Japan (in my case, 民族舞踊) and I also felt they were polar-opposites. The movements weren't necessarily smaller and self-contained, but the limbs were always bent, and there was a heavy emphasis on grounding yourself (they'd constantly tell me 腰おろして!) whereas in ballet, you're always trying to pull up and be as tall as possible. Pole looks like fun, though. A bilingual class with Lily would definitely be interesting 👍

Regarding the topic at 16:00, actually also in the West there were charming points and the most charming one was ankle!
@MaxDCapo
@MaxDCapo 14 дней назад
I forgot about this! Thanks for bringing it up🙏 Funny how charm points change by culture or just over the years. Now Japan’s charm point might be Zettai Ryoiki, aka the “absolute territory” 😅

@@MaxDCapo I think it really depended on the way women were dressed! As mentioned, the only point shown in kimono was the neck and I assume they wore socks with 下駄, so the ankle wasn't shown at all. While in the West maybe ankle were shown more (?) Idk because I don't want to say Western women didn't wear socks but maybe it was different somehow otherwise it wouldn't make sense. 😂

I think Japanese bikini used to be "sexy" in the 90s, but something happened in the early 2000s (precisely around 2000/2001-2002) and the shapes of the bikini bottom became flatter. 90s bikini bottoms tend to be V-shaped, but sometimes they looked more like diapers which I never understood the appeal of.

She seems like an awesome person to hang out with! On a side note, I don't mean any offense; please delete this comment if you find it hurtful or anything. It just saddens me to see another young, vibrant person going through the same difficulties I did when I was young, though I commend you for not letting it affect your ability to bring us these entertaining and insightful interviews. At this point, I have to assume that you've tried everything you can think of, but I'll share what worked for me anyway. My face started to break out when I was in my early twenties. Visiting multiple dermatologists didn't help since they eventually just used me as their personal ATM with expensive treatments that simply didn't work. All my complaints were brushed aside, and I was repeatedly told to reduce stress. What worked for me was identifying that my breakouts were linked to the food I consumed. Pretty much all my problems started disappearing after I stopped consuming dairy, sugar, and processed foods. This meant avoiding a lot of foods like milk, chocolate, protein shakes, bread, cheese, crackers, chips, etc. Instead, I focused on real cooked meals, stevia, and non-deep-fried meats. I also tried Accutane, which helped me get through the worst phase of my breakouts, but being mindful of the foods that triggered my acne was the final solution. Additionally, going to the gym seemed to trigger it, so I mainly do calisthenics and yoga now. The human body can be silly sometimes. Keep on trucking, my friend!

This was very educational on some subjects that I have unwittingly observed without understanding. Thank you. I'm not sure I could get on board with the traditional Japanese dance, I feel like the body needs to move and flow with less rigidity. It does not have to be a fast dance for example the Indian Kathakali or Karnata (forget which) is more on the rigid side but has more flow and sway.

6:32 出る杭は打たれるね? 7:58 Yes, and it isn't necessarily by choice. The West is predominately a melting pot, a mix of cultures, ethnicities, languages, and religions. Classism is very much at the forefront. Despite countries having names like the United States of America and the United Kingdom, citizens of those respective countries are equal on paper only. We are taught to be individuals, and we are taught that socialism is bad. If socialism is bad, how well do you think collectivism is going to go with society? Royal families and founding fathers drew lines in the sand a long time ago, and those lines still exist--we see it every day with how society treats certain members of society, and we all know it isn't fair. Japan being a homogeneous country is above this for the most part with something like 97% of the population having the same background. In any case, cultural issues in Japan are at a minimum in comparison to countries in the West. When there is little to separate you from everyone else, it is easier to live as one. Large numbers of people in the West still can't accept some skin colors, hair textures/styles, food, and religions. 11:03 Japanese people enjoy getting catfished? 24:07 This is indeed impressive! That said, those are chin-ups, not pull-ups. Chins draw on biceps more than lats and back, which is what pull-ups do. If Lily reversed her grip, she would have been doing pull-ups. Depending on the strength of Lily's lats and back, it might have been a little or a lot more difficult for her to do. 35:07 Makes sense. Lily doesn't sound British at all. 36:12 Oh, damn. Do they give you the Megan Markle treatment? Yikes =/ 40:08 It is shocking to see that there are a good number of people in Japan who were never told to not ask personal questions to people they hardly know. 43:07 I would have loved to see Lily Ask Jeeves what a six pack is, lol. The confusion on her face when she saw a six pack of soda/alcohol among random pics of abs would have been priceless! 45:13 I bet Lily and Shizuka would be a lot of fun together.
