whenever i watch one of these, it makes me feel special because this channel's community takes up less than 0.000007% of the world, 20% of that mass staying until the end, yet we found ourselves here, listening and watching this guy give us life advice as we live it ourselves and gradually becoming better, living freer, inspiring each other together with the vessel of the channel. for the past year, i've wanted to make cinematic masterpieces like this - bought a camera and my personal video editing experience with me - yet i end up always leaving behind unfinished projects with the conjecture that builds of it not becoming what i had initially envisioned. i truly want to get over this hurdle and be able to be creative without such a taxing setback, instilling a fear in me that i will never get to express myself.
@Kaaguyu

I get where you come from. There’s so much that comes into your head mostly when you start. But all I can say as someone who started and had so many fears is that it’s immensely worth it. You won’t have the best videos and being a perfectionist it’s a huge hurdle not to take back your camera and reshoot everything. But I came to realise that can’t make a perfect masterpiece and it’s funny because now I appreciate much more learning and experimenting. I know that people might judge me and it’s okay too because the joy that I get while creating is so much stronger. Sometimes the will of finishing a project that you deem “not good enough” will hinder you from living the entire experience of content creation. I know it’s sounds super cliche but the journey is what actually truly matters. I really understand where you come from so I hope these words could help little 😁

@@AndrewPaul1 I like that. Nice. But I know exactly what you mean. I'm a woodworker. One day when around 16, he wanted us to try to make a skateboard. So I said sure,but you are doing a lot of the work also. During the initial process I could tell by the look on his face that he thought it looked terrible. Uneven, edges ragged. I said trust the process and don't judge it from the beginning. In the end he loved it. It turned out pretty well.

One thing I've always wanted to do is turning my writings into videos. Your videos have been giving me confidence towards becoming a version of me i can be proud of. I'm learning success is not material or goal we reach or get. It's a matter of feeling satisfied where we are at. Being in the unknown is just being uncomfortable, and that provides growth. Its also learning that we are not a product of what other people say. The freedom of difference is what makes us truly human. So I started to write my ideas down and been making videos for myself, not for others. I've realized we are all similar in many ways. The hurt, joy, and love.

The reason I want to keep going is my inner voice to tell stories and the fear that our world is loosing this quietly because everything is getting faster. It's a beautiful complexity and abstraction I see almost everywhere in everything. The feeling of overwhelment and pure joy at the same time. We are only a story aswell and its time that people start to tell us...

20% again! I’ve been searching for my creative outlet since high school. 2 years ago I picked up a camera again for the first time in 25 years. Now I’m making videos which I’ve always been terrified to do because of my lazy eye. I’ve recently started a RU-vid channel and I’m just finding my footing. I definitely prefer long form video of short form but I’ve been getting myself comfortable making videos by making short form vertical videos. When I think about RU-vid I doubt myself, but I know I am so much more creative and capable than what I’m currently producing. I just have to keep doing it to get better at it, and trust the process. Really glad I found your channel man! It’s helping!

dude, I love this video, i am inspired to go on and finish my first RU-vid video, I've always wanted to be able to create videos, to talk to the camera, and looking back I've had unrealistic expectations for it and they are stupid like: I should look good to talk to the camera, lose more weight so I dont get body shamed, learn how to PERFECTLY make videos and now be so awkward talking to a camera etc.. So i guess this is my sign to go all in and give myself the creative space to explore, and to suck at it first to get good.

My unknown that scares me is to travel around South Africa. I am South African but have lived in the same province my whole life. At the beginning of next year, I want to start travelling but as I've started looking around places I'd like to go to and started planning I've realised how much I don't know about how to travel, where to go and what to expect. But the regret of not doing this would be worse than the fear of not even trying. I'll never know what could be, what to expect and what could happen without taking action and getting myself there. For me I found it much better to be the guy who knows absolutely nothing about jiujitsu because your progress is more evident to everyone involved. I started 2 months ago and I’m in love with the art and the people there because they’ll take the time out of their day to teach me something new, in return they see me getting better and that makes them fulfilled when they see that they invested in someone who was weak and timid to someone who is still pretty weak but a little more confident. I started a channel too, and I've been working through the *exact* thing you talked about-the longer you spend with an idea, the longer you have to criticize it and decide it's not good enough... But in reality, the incompleteness, the imperfection of the idea, that's what makes it relatable to other people, because none of us are our whole selves all the time-none of us express the totality of our lives in a single expression. We are who we are in this moment. IMPERFECTION IS IMPACT!! No matter if you see this comment or not, thank you for being a "new RU-vidr" big brother to me as I figure this stuff out. I truly love your videos, because of your videos I just want to go outside and create!! Ive had my drivers license for 2 years now, but always scared to drive, scared for what could happen on the road and scared that I didnt know how to drive. This month july I try to drive almost everyday, even if im nervous or its just for 15 minutes. Thanks for inspiring me :)

I started painting! Never considered myself artistic (I thought it was different than creative but maybe they're closer than I thought) and was terrified of making "bad art." Turns out, if I'm just doing it for me, I end up thinking it's pretty good because it means something to me or speaks to how I was feeling at that moment. It's not going in a museum, but I have decorated my walls. :) p.s. you're inspiring me to start running again. life just make sense when you run.

I've been afraid of trying to get married because the relationship doesn't exist yet. What you said about being the one who creates the value really resonated with me. Thank you from a member of the 20% fam!

Amazing as always! I kinda want to chase that artist life and actually have work that isn’t overtly commercial like my graphic design past to help make life continually sustainable in the future. Tricky with two kiddos and a partner but, I’d love to make it work as I thrive in momentum and not in jobs where I just need to keep doing the same draining thing forever. Thanks for the inspo!

I want to be more free, but I always stopped myself, I think because I never had freedom, it holds me back and every time I think "I should create something" I just, can't

Part of the 20%. I just ran my first 5K today. It felt good and low key exhausted afterwards. I’m training for my first half marathon in the month of August. I’ll keep you guys updated.

My fears are similar to yours. I want to make a RU-vid video ... but don't know how it'll turn out or I don't do it because I don't know how to do it or what it'll even be about. But I want to create something. And I love your style and watching you talk about overcoming your discomfort. That's what I need to do.

I've always wanted to be an artist, for the sake of being an artist. As a way to move through life and a lens to view the world through, regardless of any audience. I think the process you talk about in this video is relevant to that, just making things is a catalyst for seeing more in things ❤

20% gang ☺ Your videos are so inspiring, honest, and awesomely shot. 🙌 I'm starting to learn 3D design. Currently sitting in the super uncomfortable feeling of not being as good as the 1000's of other 3D designers out there, but finding myself enjoying the learning if I focus on one lesson at a time. 💫.
