10 Minute Project - Well that Hurt
Something I wasn't able to go into as deeply - apparently it wasn't on the mind - is that the pain of being "decieved" by a creator was something I hadn't really experienced before? I've seen a lot of people have very severe reactions to finding out that what they thought of didn't line up with who the person is and I hadn't experienced such a hard reaction myself until this situation came up.
Also, the Internet lacks Empathy, and it scares me. I'll do a video on it at some point.
Finally, I think it's pragmatic to keep your social circle open with people coming in and out. I'm not just a big old softie - I think social skill can atrophy and you only get better at being social by doing it and investing in people who might not give you back what you put in. And that's okay.

The way I see these kinds of situations, is from a stoic perspective: you don't do the right thing because you expect to be rewarded, you do the right because it aligns with your values and it signals to everyone around that this is what you stand for. The last point is only relevant if you're not virtue-signaling: saying "I am for good thing" for brownie points is just people-pleasing. If I offer respect to another person and they disrespect me, I am not lessened. They have shown their true colors and I have shown mine. It's in being true to myself that I can find peace, not in excessively worrying if my good actions will be rewarded, reciprocated or betrayed. I won't pretend it's easy to live that way, but being accountable only to yourself and those you truly care for protects both from cynicism and from naivety.

I used to have the same mindset about empathy and the benefit of the doubt, but all it led to was me being used and abused. I've learned one thing when I was a child and that is some people really are nothing more than a waste of human life that don't deserve a single thing. Being vulnerable can be beautiful, but humanity is filth and the truly kind are rare to come by.

Personally I try only to be vulnerable to people I'm close to. Although, part of me saying that is because I am the sort that can easily cut off a relationship. I've seen too many online people play a long game for malicious purposes. I did worry about somerton with his initial 'suicide' tweet. Which led me to following hbomberguy's editor's attempts to check in. When the word came back somerton was completely fine (and people close to him also repeated it) after 2-3 days I lost a lot of the empathy for somerton I was allowing myself to have. Patricia Taxxon's Tumblr has a good write-up on it about the tragedy around somerton.

I hate people that fake their death i don't know who this person wasbut whether it was for clout or not its still wrong, also I'm not saying your defending him I'm just saying
