A girl in my photojournalism class saw I was listening to Beirut and asked what they were " A band" I replied, and she asked what they sounded like. I really couldn't describe it, and that's what I said. They're magic, that's what they are.
I absolutely love rewatching this over and over again! It's just so amazing and I absolutely love Nantes :D ONe of my favorite songs from Beirut :D I wish I could've been there
IM SO HAPPY I WENT TO HIS CONCERT 2 DAYS AGO!!ZACH is the BEST i love him live he's so sweet he did 4 encores!you cant say he doesn't love his fans after he did that he looked so tired afterwards!LOVE HIM!!LOVE BEIRUT!XD
thats what makes Beirut so beautiful. the music kinda opens up a window to how wonderful life is, and all you want to do is share that feeling with another. so if you feel lonely just realize that that loneliness is a catalyst to other wandering souls. feeling alone can actually make you feel more connected to everyone around you because we are all alone to some extent. it's a beautiful thing.
It hurts to see so many people listening to him without the appreciation he deserves. This man has such a brilliant, inspiring life story and he's moved me so much. Zach Condon is a beautiful musician and he's given so much good to my life and my music taste. His music is nothing like I've ever heard and it takes me to another place. I don't like other people listening to him because it's so special to me and I'm sure that nobody will understand and appreciate his talent like I and many others do. The ones who do understand have a gift :) Zach is amazing and his music may not be like all the pop music on the radio but it is pure talent. Zachary Condon has had a huge influence on me this past year and I'm looking forward to one day meeting him :) you should try and read about him now that you've witnessed his talent. He has such a great backstory.
Merrill Lash can you explain what you think is so special about his life story. Like I'm not trying to demean him in anyway. I honestly just spent like 30 minutes trying to read up on it, but all I could find was very vague descriptions of him dealing with "mental illness" and briefly going through "hospitalization" but it doesn't get any more in depth then that. Hope you don't take this the wrong way.
Zach is amazing but the sentence " I don't like other people listening to him because it's so special to me and I'm sure that "nobody" will understand and appreciate his talent like I and "many" others do. I understand what you want to say but It's not secret Zach is a treasure of this Earth. (Will Sheff is an equal treasure tucked away back there.)
I'm a student currently living in Nantes, France. I heard this song live during a gig Beirut played in Paris 4 days ago (@l'Olympia). I can now say that my life is complete. There are no words for this... My perception of music in general has changed the day I first heard this song/saw this video on youtube 3 years ago.
Im left without words , truly speechless reminds me of many a great luminary but i will leave them all out for ive only just found my way into hearing 'beirut' for the first time ... talk about passion , talent and integrity ... such 'gusto' ... i hope i get to see them live someday ...
I remember watching this video back in 2008 when it was a baby, now it's all grown up with 6 million views.. I fell in love, and every time I heard this song, my heart broke. It still does. Nantes is my favorite song from Beirut.
I love this song to death, though it has always confused me why he rhymes voices with Nantes, when they don't quite rhyme. Somehow it makes me love it even more. I can listen to this song 20 times in a row and never get tired. Partly because the french clip from the album version tests my limited knowledge of french.
The most rarest breathe taking voice in the world mixed with musical geniuses. They are all the most inspiring band my ears ever connect with. Just pure amazing!
Beirut's music sets my soul to rest and lets me know that while the world can be a shitty place there are bits that shine brightly though the muck. Thanks guys, love all your stuff so much. this is one of my favourite tunes as it just happened kind of and everybody loved it. God bless you :)
Still love this, I always will. This video was the first time I heard this song. It is such a pure representation, it's almost hard to listen to the studio version of it.
no matter how much depth and density, interlocking harmonies and braided threads of rhythm, melodic counterparts and rich bass lines, the core of music should shine and radiate beyond any component of song. The core is derived from the interior. It comes to be intuitively, it grows through passion and maturity, and blooms when the deepest parts of ourselves mold with our potential. The richness and depth of zach condon’s comes not from the greatest of minds, but from the greatest of hearts.
O que impressiona em bandas como Beirut é sua simplicidade, estilo próprio e acima de tudo talento, bem diferente dessa nova geração de "musicos" brasileiros. Pena que sejam poucos conhecidos e admirados no Brasil
Got to hang out with Beirut backstage after their show at Bogart's last night. These guys are so incredibly humble... like I don't even think THEY realize how talented they are! But seriously... they put on an amazing show, and they're all so very nice. =)
I can't stop listening to this song. In honored to know the bass player. I knew he would go far with his musical career. Can't wait until they are back in oregon. Pendleton always represents
Amo essa musica ela é perfeita para relaxar e entre tantas coisas Amo beirut! / I love this song it is perfect for relaxing and all the things Love beirut!
